Thanks for your video. Just now I failed change this charger but do not find the cause. Meanwhile I found the cause while watching your video; you push the black pin to lock the cable with a CLICK but I did not. Next time I implemented as you did, and then my tab can be charging again. Thanks again bro~
Those black things you pry up on the ribbon connector are called "latches", and there are at least three of them: one on the charge connector cable, and two others on the big ribbon cables that straddle the battery. If you ever go to replace the battery, you have to lift those big ribbon cables out of the way, and to do so you have to pop open the latches and unclip them. If your tablet is more than 3 years old and you have to replace the charge connector, I suggest you replace the battery too. Three to four years is about all you can reasonably expect from a phone or tablet battery; as long as you have to pry the tablet open to replace the charge connector, you might as well do the battery too. NOTE: there seems to be a specific problem with the original charge connectors on the Tab S 10.5. Far too many people have had to replace theirs - seems like there was a bad production run of the OEM connectors, and a lot of them got installed in Tab S 10.5's. If your Tab S 10.5 is still otherwise in good shape, a new battery and charge port are a good investment: a new Samsung tablet with a hi-res screen 10.5~11" screen (the S6 and S7) cost $650, and they no longer have a 3.5mm audio jack, so you can't use a corded headset with them, except through an adapter off of the USB-C connector. The Tab S 10.5 is now an "older" device, but it still has a lot of functionality, and you can give one several more years of useful life for under $50 for a new charge port and battery.
I didn´t dare to replace the charging port myself until I watched this video. You encouraged me to do it and I succeeded!!! Thank you very much for this excellent tutorial. My Tab S is now working fine. Now you have a new friend in Argentina!!!
Thank you. This video showed me clearly just how to change the charging port. I couldn't have done it without your help. With a $9 part and this video my tablet is charging normally again!
Mines been dead for a year. Changed the battery today and it worked but I went to charge it and it wouldnt charge. Looks like the port was the problem all along lol. Will be trying this port change tomorrow thanks for the video. Update: : all working cheers
All the videos I've seen on this replacement are missing an important step regarding the SD card. If you have a SD card installed, before you being the replacement, go to Settings, General, Storage, tap on the SD card and tap Unmount (no need to Format). Then close Settings and shut down the tablet. Remove the SD card and replace the charge port as per the video. Then reinsert your SD card and power up and it should recognize the card again. If you don't unmount first, you may have trouble getting the device to recognize the SD card after the installation.
Thank you for clarifying how to remove the other end of ribbon cable (prying up the small black clip). I was watching another video that didn't explain what to do, you did. Nice close up showing the work, good job. My eyes aren't quite what they used to be, helped a lot.
Where do you get the replacement cable from? Amazon I assume? All I see on Amazon have the SD card attachment built in. I don't want to replace my SD card port that works fine it's only my USB charger port not working.
