Very thoughtful and clearly layout video of the 5 cruise terminals! Our first transatlantic cruise from New York to Southampton in May and found this video is very helpful to get the visual scene on the road to the different terminals. Thank you!
Hi Sat. Thank-you for watching and you kind words on the video, great you found it helpful. Enjoy the transatlantic definitely on our bucket list one day. Tom
Worth mentioning that Southampton Airport is very convenient too for regional flights. Has its own train station (airport parkway) that goes down to Southampton Central.
Hi Lynn. Thanks for watching and your lovely comment I am really glad people are finding it useful. Have a great time on your cruise, where are you off to?
Great I am glad it helped. I would definitely give it go, see if you can good deal on 4-7 nighter will give you a good idea if it’s for you. Have any questions please ask. Tom
Very interesting I didn't know they were city and horizon terminals we left from ocean but it was 4years ago before all the testing and covid we hired a wheelchair and it was waiting for me no stressing about nothing got straight through no queuing with been disabled very helpful staff and they also took the car for us we loved the Fijords going back soon thank-you 👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗
Hi Julie, thanks for taking the time to comment and like the video. Great to hear of your smooth departure, we like ocean terminal, modern and generally efficient. Norway is on our bucket list, have great time. Tom
Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. We are heading there this May to go on Anthem of the Seas, and from your video it looks like we can walk to the terminal from the holiday inn.
Don't apologize for the wind. I'm from Wyoming, and a 50 mile an hour wind is not unusual. I grew up thinking everyone walked bent into the wind. Thanks for the tour. I'll remember it for next summer's cruise.
Really helpful video. While we know our way around Southampton like the back of our hand, it can be a bit daunting for some people like my parents. I'll certainly share this video if I hear of anyone concerned or confused about embarking a ship in Southampton :) great stuff!
Very informative video, thank you! I'm going on a transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2 in May, and just booked a room at the Premier Inn West Quay. After watching this video it looks like the Holiday Inn is closer, doh!
Hi. Thanks for your comments and watching. Premier inn is great choice, your opposite the shopping centre and around 10 restaurants and even a cinema, also a short walk to terminals. Enjoy the transatlantic will definitely do that one day.
Thank you for the informative video. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn the night before our cruise. We are departing form the City terminal. I was wondering if we can walk to the terminal through gate #8. Thank you.
Hi Mehrdad. Thank-you for your kind words. The walk is probably less than 5 minutes your staying at perfect hotel for city terminal. Holiday inn is great if up early for watching ships coming in and opposite you have mayflower park where you can get extremely close to the ship at city terminal. Have a great cruise.
Very informative video. I’ll be arriving in March 2024. Heading to London for a week after the cruise. Cruise transfers to London only go to the airport so I’ll take the train into London and then make my way to my hotel. Do you recommend buying train tickets in advance, and which site to purchase tickets. Much appreciated
Hi Mike thanks for watching and your kind words. Nearer the time I would head to train line for good advance fares. Just make sure your ticket is not too restrictive, incase you get delays in arriving on your cruise. Have great cruise
@@cruisingwiththe4bs Thanks so much. I remembered Trainline app after messaging you. The app recommended waiting a few weeks before purchasing tickets as prices drop. I’ll take your advise regarding the schedules. Thanks for the response. All the best.
Hi Cruising with the 4bs your video is very interesting is it possible i can use it on my website as i own a transfer company in London . Please let me know. Regards David
Hi David. Thank-you so much for watching and liking. Please do use it for your website, pop a link to our UA-cam page would be great. What’s the website?
We are on the QM2 in July. We will be dropped off by Taxi. Do we drop our bags and then get a COVID test? Is the test taken in the cruise terminal so easy to get to after being dropped off? . What is the process? If we test positive how do we get our bags back?
Hi, all cruise liners are different so not sure what their protocol will be but you will know nearer the time. However yes bags are taken off you straight away and I’m sure they would be returned. Do a test the morning of departure would be our advice to give a good idea of whether you will be positive or not. Enjoy your cruise 😊
Beautiful hotel have never stayed there only been in the bar, it’s more of a luxury hotel, maybe we will do another just with hotels and this will get a mention 🙂
@@cruisingwiththe4bs as someone who has lived in, and around Southampton all his 49 years, I can say that the timings quoted are never going to happen. It is all very well using published times, but those would all only be achievable at Midnight in Southampton. Traffic can be horrendous, esp when more than one ship is in, quoting them as gospel is never gonna happen. So misleading - shame as the rest is great.
@@chairy73 thank you for the input 🙂 they are not said in gospel and sometimes when spending such a long time making these vlogs things get said which are a tiny snippet and a lot to make changes, as someone who has also lived in the area all my life it can be done in 1hr30 in good traffic lol I was being optimistic with the 1hr20! However as I said this can be done on a train, so I beg to differ it’s not misleading (we’ll by a short Margin if at all)
Southampton is not a Cruise Port. It is a Port. It has facilities for cruise ships, including Terminals, but it is also is a port for ocean liners and container/cargo ships.
Thank-you for clarification. As we have lived in the area for all of our lives we well aware that also accommodates other types of ships. Hope you enjoyed the video.
@@cruisingwiththe4bs But you make it sound as if the port was nothing but a cruse port. A better title would have been ‘ Cruise Terminals at the Port of Southampton’.

There are excellent signs along the road showing which ship is at which dock..so no chance of getting the wrong dock .

Glad you enjoyed it 🙂. We live 30 minutes away so don’t tend to stay over however all are very close by and we would stay in any of them 😊
How did you find getting on the ship? Did you get there any earlier than your check in time?
