How to use CoinOpsX on the Legends Ultimate Arcade and Legends Gamer with Flash Drive X (Tutorial)

- With a new update AtGames has changed how you add your CoinOpsX games to the Legends Ultimate Arcade and Legends Gamer. Only a couple steps were added such as partitioning a flash drive, and then mounting it into the cabinet. I made this video as a very easy to follow step-by-step tutorial so I hope it helps!

This was incredibly helpful and easy to follow. When it's tech-related, I tend to need idiot-proof instruction and this was great. Looking forward to giving it a go!
Thank you for this no-nonsense, fully detailed overview of how to get CoinopsX set up. I've watched about a half dozen videos and they all leave out critical information. Your video covers it all. Many thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. This man deserves a award, I would've never got this figured out without this video thank you!
Thanks so much! These instructions worked for a Legends gamer Mini and Core unit I just got delivered. Works great! Thank You
Thank you for the HOW TO... This 80's child is SO happy and filled with memories of these wonderful games.
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for this video. With the new update, I was completely lost on how to proceed but this cleared things up perfectly. You're the boss.
Glad it helped!
Thank you for your tutorials. You have been my go to guy since nes mini. I appreciate you and how clear your videos are.
Thanks! Happy I could help!
I can't thank you enough for this incredibly well broken down, step by step walkthrough. I am tech handicapped and don't understand a lot of the jargon in some other videos of the like, but you made this so simple for me to understand that I feel confident in doing this myself now instead of crying to my tech buddies to help me. Thanks again, cheers
Another big thanks! I've been pecking at this for a year, and this was video that helped me put all the pieces together and got 'er done! Thanks!
Fantastic! Followed it to a T, and it loaded up perfectly. Obviously haven't tried every game, but this is the best tutorial for this process. Thanks!
Great to hear!
Thank you so much for this simple-to-follow tutorial. I'm discovering so many games I didn't know about as a kid.
Just a heads up to everyone, restart your console after installing coinopsx before you launch it. I forgot to do that and the console did not recognize the files.
Great video and an easy walk through. I set mine up tonight and it works like a charm ! Thanks !!!
This is an awesome video! Allowed me to get everything working first try (including restart). Thanks so much.
Got the Legends Gamer Pro from wally $99 and updated the firmware to 5.25.0 + did the factory reset and both P1 and P2 connected fine. Prepped the USB per the steps here and v4.5 works great!! Did use a 128GB USB to have extra space for any game addons. Good job to the OP
dude, thanks for this. Was stuck for so long. you rock!
Glad it helped!
I don't have an AtGames Arcade, will never have ( I live in Brazil), never had any mini system - but, somehow I love to watch your videos ♥
Happy you enjoy them!
Who's here from the Walmart sale?
Oh yeah. Still waiting for mine, though.
Just got mine yesterday 😤
Me !
Yep, I have my flash drive setup and my unit should be here in the morning.
ME!!!!!
Awesome video. Worked perfect for me. Now anytime anyone is asking for help I just share this video haha.
Glad it helped!
This was a great help. Thank you so much.
Oh man you're lifesaver, I've checked through so many other video's and this one is the only one which worked for me. Followed your instructions step by step and worked like a charm and I'm on firmware 5.5. Big thumbs up thank you.
P.s --If you have followed all steps and try to load the coinopsx and getting a error message "no coinopsx files found" leave the flash drive in and just restart the machine and select launch again and you should be in business .
PACO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the PS message. Saved me several hours of rebuilding my files! I thought something was wrong on my end. I restarted with the USB drive installed and BAM! Worked. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRO! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
How did you "restart the machine"? I couldn't figure it out so unplugged and replugged the power cable. Pretty silly design.
@@Kaosaephan11 you need to restart the machine with usb plugged. Do not restart it with it plugged in it will do nothing. Just press the power button to restart
@@Kaosaephan11 push the power button.
Great video, as someone brand new to this, I just got a Legends arcade last week and was excited to get more games on it. One thing I found is after I installed the Coinopsx it would not launch and say "no coinops x files found". A quick restart fixed this and it is working perfectly now.
Stuck as well, by quick restart do you mean pressing the power button off and on? Or is there another method of doing a quick restart?
Same here, glad I saw your comment or i would have assumed I messed it up somewhere.
@@Mexitrus Yeah just cycle the power and it should work.
Saw this video and subscribed. Thanks for the info can't wait to do this to my can 👍👊
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome video!
Thanks a bunch. I have the legends gamer, and this works the same way. I'm doing a video review of the legends gamer and I hope you don't mind me linking to this for reference since you can break it down better than I can.
I seen Tecmo Bowl that’s all I need to see. Hope it has Contra too. Good vid.
Thank you for this!
I finally got it working and have added daphne and scummvm. Lovebit
how did you add daphne?
@@manwichamn44 I downloaded the coinopsx sauce pack
I was on the fence about this cab,, but the more I look.. I think I like it..lol
You should definitely pick one up!
Can’t go wrong. Not the most attractive but most versatile
...and the Price!!!!
Thank you for this video
This is a well done video. You make it seem simple and easy to understand. Thank you! My question is why would they mess with this since it worked perfect before? It couldnt of taken that much space it seems like they are moving backwards. Im still at the old version and haven't upgraded it yet.
@Patton Plays on Win8+ you can right-click Windows/Start button you get to Disk Management & Computer Management, among other admin tools. Win+X is the keyboard shortcut, then the underlined letter will open that item. Thanks for the video, about to work on my ULA soon :)
I modded my arcade1up Marvel cab with a raspberry pi4 and have all the best arcade games on it now. I love having a few beers and playing it on weekends.
Dude google “THE BOSS” UNIVERSAL CONTROL PANEL 3P MAX if you want the same form factor to play with another adult without being shoulder to shoulder. Theres also another panel he makes to make it similar to the NBA jam cab for 2 or 4 player with more space (on the 2 player) if you dont mind changing the form factor. The Boss keeps you both angled to the screen and keeps the form factor which I think is dope. Acrade 1up should be doing this design if they are going to keep them so small. The legends cab is prefect size for 2 adults.
Got my ALU last month and just added OneSauce. Might try this on a different flash drive to see which I like more
Great tutorial
Hey bud thanks!
@@PattonPlays always great content man
So helpful - But as mentioned in comments turn the console on and off after installing CoinsOpX
Damn easy peasy 👍🏽😀
Thanks!
Thanks a Million
Wish I started with like a 2GB first partition. Mine is currently 12GB but will be refreshed after I try out a bunch of games. Apparently all that gets installed there is a 140kb CoinOpsX file. Manually edited the saUCEy pack twice before getting it to fit with this walkthrough. Thanks for all the other info though. Easy to follow.
Absolute legend! Thanks for the vid. Super easy to follow. Is there any way to exit coinops and go back or do I have to shut it down and turn it back on every time? Sorry if I missed this somewhere
i can access the games but coin ops isn't working. I will go through this again I probably didnt do something right. But you are right the sauced build is awesome! so much better than what I had. Thanks.
Works! Not sure what I did wrong but reran AddonX and now works awesome help! Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. It allowed me to get things setup and working great. I was wondering if you (or others here) could lend advice on if there is a way to combine multiple saUCE collections to one USB stick. For instance, I'd like to combine the Arcade and GBA saUCE collections so when running CoinopsX it will see them all, depending on what playlist I select. Can that be done? My USB stick is 256GB and has plenty of room for many collections. Thanks for any advice!
thank u
Thanks for the easy to follow video! Question, after setting this all up, can i disable the internet access going forward? Not a fan of having an always on device with open internet narcing on me 😉
THX
I just set this configuration up (thanks Patton!) and just a note - if you get a “No CoinOPSX file found” message after trying to launch it, a simple reboot of the system should fix it.
I tried several times I still get the message
I have everything built on a USB and ready. Silly question because I am new, does the USB need to stay plugged in even when you turn the arcade machine off and on or should it be removed when powering the machine off and on?
@@craigs9282 You can just leave it plugged in.
@@GravyDavy78 awesome! Thanks brother! I had this fear that it would mess something up if I left it in at all times so this is very helpful!
I got me and my Dad one. Modding will be half the fun Im doing a custom Cowboys of Moo Mesa cabinet out of the At Games Ultimate Mini. This things rocks I could never get the arcade 1 ups because 3 or 4 games was never worth it for the space it takes up. They really seem to give you tons of ways to use it. I know its over kill but Im probably going to put my modern gamming pc under the hood so then i can consolidate space.
I followed your instructions, and MK 2 and 3 and 3 Ultimate have no sound whatsoever? Any fixes? These are my sons favorite games so it's a big deal for me.
lmgtfy.app/?q=mortal+kombat+no+sound+retroarch
Push the menu button. Go under the adv config in the menu setting. You will see the mame config menu. Go to dip settings and then move test menu to on. Then you will see the advanced settings of the actual arcade machine. Go under sound adjustment and raise up the volume to your desired level. I put mine up almost all the way. When you are done just hit the exit and it will tell you to turn off the test menu. Make sure to do so and then push the menu button and the game will reset with your settings changed and you will have volume. This is needed in most of the midway games.
question tho are there light gun games included in this and if yes will they or are they compatible with any of the light guns coming out including the bitblaster from atgames?
You can also right click the start menu and the context menu has "disk management" in it.
This is amazing. We are unboxing the Legends Ultimate on Christmas morning and I wanted to get this set up before then so it is ready to go. Any advice for Mac users? Is there a similar program/app like Flash Drive X that you are aware of?
Sorry I have no experience with Macs. The only thing I've heard of is some program that simulates a Windows PC that can be ran on a Mac, but I do not know what it's called.
Did you do all this in the actual arcade it’s self like setting up the usb and everything?
Hey Patton, if you have any say with the secret sauce team, is there any way they can add the 4 player versions of arcade games like the turtles game, X-men game, or the simpsons, etc. perhaps this can be on the version 5 if they are even working on it. Thanks in advanced, great video as always.
Great video. Can you recommend an after market steering wheel that is compatible with LUA for the driving games?
Seems simple enough, also to the folks asking questions, there are like hundreds of you... he said go to the discord for support lol. Not that anyone in the future will read this, since they didn't LISTEN to him to begin with.
At first i thought he was kinda being a dick by not responding to yall, but now i see :P
I have the new legends ultimate 1.1. The settings menu doesn't have Flash Drive X. Is it named something else on this new cabinet or is there a work around?
Ok, how do you get the ability to use both joystick? I need to set that up for Berzerk and would love to set that up for defender as well!
I seem to be missing the cox (coinopsx) folder from my drive with all my games. Where can I get the coinsopx program tip put on my usb drive?
So I've noticed a couple things. Aero Fighters was incorrect on mine, I had to go get the right rom and I fixed it manually. Also I noticed NBA Jam and NBA Jam TE are both 4 player versions, these need to be changed to the 2p version. I will again have to go look for those roms. Also I noticed a bunch of errors when combining this with the pixelcade. I'm currently working on fixes and will be sending them to Al soon so more of the games will have the right display.
Quick question, I just bought the Legends Gamer Pro and setup the Arcade V4 Secret Sauce on my uSB using the AddonX tool. Now i want to add the other consoles (NES, SNES, SEGA GENESIS/CD, NEO GEO, Atari etc....do i just copy all the files from the cox and UDE folders and paste and click "Build" for each one or can I copy and paste all them just click "Build" afterwards?
Did you figure this out yet? I am trying to figure out the same thing. Based on the release notes I think we need to have playlists for each of the consoles. Let me know if you know more. Here is what I found in regards to the lists - www.atgames.net/arcades/release-notes-week-47/
Got it running on the Gamer Pro. Doesn't have the flashy front end, but the games are all there and run
I have this all set up on a gamer pro with the latest coin ops sauce, a couple games can run laggy at times with too much on screen or have slowdown, is that just due the pros CPU? Or is there anything I can do or update to remedy it / make it run better.
Great Video, works on the Legends Gamer Pro just fine.. Is there anyway to add pinball tables?
This was literally my question. I just bought a Legends Gamer Pro and was wondering if it would work on it. Thank you!
Yes.
I’d like to know how to add daphne games to this.
Which 8-bit game has New Order’s “Blue Monday” on its soundtrack? That’s f-ing awesome!
I suppose it could be 16-bit (or later), but that could easily have been made on an Atari 800 or a Commodore 64...
I just ordered my Legends Ultimate Arcade, so this will be the method I use out of the box? Or do I need to update it first?
I know this video is fairly old, but I was wondering if the bitlcd Marque would use the ones from coin ops or if it's something you'd have to add later?
Hello, can I add several systems (console games) in one USB? Or is the same as before that you need another USB for different systems?
I tried finding an answer to this myself and it appears that you’d need a separate USB for each system you make for Coinops. Saw one video of someone using CoinopsX and he was swapping USB drives to play different systems.
Quick question, I’ve been using a mini but I just got the gamer pro control deck. I took out my CoinOpsX usb from the mini and inserted it to the pro but it won’t read it. Do I need to unmount it from the mini first?
Question, how did you get from Adding games flies to Using the Addon-X Tool? Should i be going online to retrieve addon-x tool 1.0.18_Beta or it add on from: getsauceywithcoinopsX_Arcade_V4? That where i got lost in your video..
Hey Patton does your coinopsx not save your favorites when you come back? And does your X-men game work with the v4 edition? Thank you for your videos.
I do not believe the most current version of CoinopsX supports favorites yet. My XMen works just fine.
Dude, you are the MAN!!! This is by far simply amazing!!! F@cking brilliant. Can I send you a Christmas gift? Thank you so much for a simple guide to getting my ULA up to its amazing potential!!
I am showing the same games that you have. Are there different versions of version 4?
Great video but where can I find how to navigate it once it's running? I know the joystick moved up and down, the C/Z will move a letter, but that's about it. Mine has many systems and it starts with an ICON saying ALL GAMES about 3/4 over on the bottom of the screen, just to the left of the wheel but if I leave in attract mode it will switch to a specific system and I have no idea how to get out or pick a specific system.
Would I be able to add other sauced files to this in the same manor? Like coinops sauced Sega Cd edition and others? Would you add them to the 2nd larger file as well? I got a 128gb.
Thanks for the video. I followed the steps and get CoinOpsX to open but it only shows the arcade with no game choices on the right side. Any ideas on what the issue might be? I also used 128MB USB and the V4 Secret Sause edition file. Thanks for your help!
You can get assistance from the discord listed in the description.
Patton, so can I setup a Mini-PC with this for Arcade Emulation Purposes?
The file I used (Yippie-Kaiyeh-MothersaUCEr or something) was too large to fit in the partition I'd created. Is it okay to make the second partition larger and shrink the first one to 12GB?
Does this method still work or is there an updated video?? Im fairly new to this and I Just purchased the legends ultimate arcade and want to install coinopsx. If there is a new method please let me know or link me to a video if possible. Thanks in advance!
When at the addonx step it seemed to freeze on “blaster” ... i shut down comp, reformated that partition, deleted blaster from uce, and am now recopying to the g drive and will try again... any ideas? Y it seemed to freeze? And u think this will solve? (Its the newest 4.5 build)
My only question (ordered the cabinet and a coinopsx drive) is once I get this running, should I avoid updating the firmware? Does the cabinet force you to update?
I'd like to know as well
I have the Legends Mini. For some reason there’s a lag on my main screen of coinopsx. Everything displays but the video preview is jerky. There’s also hesitation when scrolling between games on the selector. I’m wondering if it could be the USB Flash drive I’m using? It’s a brand new 128 GB Samsung drive. Also I did hit format several times in the process before mounting the drive. Not sure… Once I get into the games everything is very smooth but somehow the menu has laggy issues.
If your cabinet states, "No CoinOpsX File Found" power off the system, power back on, and everything should work as intended.
That’s what happened to me but never comes up. It’s a good quality usb drive and I formatted perfectly. Just keep getting no coinipsx file found. Any other suggestions?
@@misterchip1984 Same happens to me, would love some help.
Same here. Restarted and still shows no coinopsx file found. -Update: I got it to work! I deleted the addonX file then ran addonX tool again from my PC drive then copied all folders to the 2nd drive on USB. I also partitioned 1st drive to NTFS. I loaded USB on core and it worked. I did have to restart core after I loaded.
I had this same problem and what worked for me was deleting the addonx folder from the flash drive, then running AddOnX tool again and letting it recreate the folder.
I have the same problem. Have tried to completely redo the Sandisk Flash drive twice and every time it states there is 'No CoinOpsX File Found'. I'm going to try again with what Charles stated but I'm not hopeful as I redid the whole drive once already. Also, I'm on the Legends Gamer with core (hockey puck) and the only way I know of to do a restart is to pull the power plug to the core (maybe that is the problem?).
Please explain if the v4 secret sauce edition needs to be unzipped I keep getting an error
Have you been able to get garou mark of the wolves on this v4 sauce build. I got it to run only once. Now I can’t load it at all. Also I noticed the playlist feature causes my games to not load. I have a gamer pro.
What's the reason for using 16gb for the first partition?
Anyone figure this out? Good question.
You don't need to. I already tried it with 4 GB first partition. I am working on a 1GB right now. Obviously I haven't tested the 1gb yet, but I don't see it not working since the 1st partition is only used to install coinopsx which is a very small file.
The 1 gb partition works as well.
I did it with a 2gb first partition and it’s worked correctly so far. Not sure if there’s a drawbacks in the long run though. I’d like to know as well his reasoning for 16gb.
Is there a way to save the display settings universally instead of per game?
Is this the same process for the gamer pro with the core/puck? Thanks!
Yes, I have the gamer pro and it worked! But I can't get the background video to play.
My flash drive did not allow me to delete so it will turn to allocated the option is gray and unavailable
Will coinops still work with firmware version 5.26 released March 25th?
I’m worried to do the update, but my current firmware is from before the USB option was added to settings.
Hello, thanks a lot for the video, is it possible to put a game as a favorite ? i don't find this option. Thanks.
can you upload a video describing how to adjust/remap controls - e.g. Battlezone
Can this same process be performed on an ssd drive as far as formatting the partitions?
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. Quick question: I have inserted the flash drive and gone to "Settings" but do not appear to have an option called "Flash Drive X". ( I am using the new 300 games Legends Ultimate running software ver 10942_A2). The tiny icon for the thumb drive come up in the top of the screen, but no "Flash Drive X" in the settings menu. Any thoughts?
Update your system’s firmware in settings, and that option will show up.
@@erikbleifield4784 Thanks so much for the info! I was able to format and mount! I seem to have hit a message snag saying that essentially I only have FIVE SESSIONS available after mounting CoinOPSX ("all offline mode sessions have been utilized. Please log back into your ArcadeNet account which will reset the Offline Mode to 5 available sessions. Select Login to validate or Exit to leave this page").
Are we only allowed 5 sessions or have I missed something along the way?
(Apologies for being a 'newbie' and thanks for your help my friend!)
You can ignore that.
@@PattonPlays Thanks, but it seems that it won't move forward unless I create an account and log in. Did I miss a step?
I have the same question about the counter reaching 0 and now no longer able to play coinopsx. I purchased the legends ultimate from a private seller with the coinopsx loaded already. Hit the 0 counter and couldn’t do anything. Did a factory reset because network wasn’t being seen on the machine and updated the firmware. And going to follow your video for getting coinopsx back on the machine. Will the counter be there? It didn’t show on your video.
I got everything set up, thank you very much.
I have one stupid question: How do you exit the CoinopsX app?
The only I found is reboot the Legends Ultimate machine.
Press the rewind button
@@Moulin13 So simple :) Thank you very much!
Will this work with the Legends Gamer Mini?
I have the Legends gamer pro. I do not see the "Flash Drive X" in the settings. I am using a hard drive instead of a usb flash drive. Is that the issue?
I have a Yellow Security Counter with a number 5, how do you disable that? Firmware 5.26
Downloaded secret sauce, applied the V4.5 upgrade and im gonna need a bigger than 64GB flash drive. Not that i can complain :)
I haven't installed v4 yet but the pack included the v4.5 upgrade. Do I follow the steps too using the AddonX tool and then after that transfer and delete files according to the read me or do I move all the files before using addonx ?
@@SoulFyr There should be no reason you cant run the ADDONX against the COX/UCE on your SSD and then copy COX/UCE/ADDONX to your USB. It should be faster that way. But i followed the exact course based on the video, i.e. ADDONX against the flash drive after copying COX/UCE. As to the version 4.5 upgrage, copied the upgrade contents to the cox/uce files, then copy/replaced from the streetfighter/twin stick UCE fix folders into target UCE, then copied COX/UCE to flash drive. After performing the steps on the gamer pro side i kept getting no files found message, but a simple reboot fixed that. This is simply amazing.
@@SoulFyr If you have not installed V4 yet search for: Full Set V4.5 Yippee Ki Yay SaUCEy Edition. It has the V4.5 updates incorporated. It sounds like it will be an easier install.
