Harken back to my days of guiding in Alaska in the early 1990's, serving open fire catch and cook shore lunches to my clients every day. Hot coffee, fried potatoes and onions, and of course, fresh fish straight from the river. Something you just can't beat! Now I'm bringing that same Alaska style shore lunch to you! In this video I also go over detailed instructions on how to start a campfire using noting but a single match. No fire starters used in this video whatsoever, and I think the footage shows that very well.
FYI: This river is open year round for trout and you are allowed to keep 2 fish per day between 8 and 20 inches. As always consult your own local fishing regulations. Lastly, notice how I left the site with the fire completely out and leaving no trace behind. That's the way to go.

“These smells are going to attract a black bear” LOL! Not only is this is my new favorite video of yours, but this is my new favorite catch and cook video out of the hundreds I have seen on UA-cam and that is the 100% honest truth! Keep it up!
Wow! That is quite the testimonial! Thank you so much for your support and for checking it out! So glad you liked it!
We need more videos like this! The people demand it! Lol gotta love an old school catch and cook
Haha! I love it! Thanks Jesse! I appreciate the support and thanks so much for the comment and for checking it out!
I thought I was watching a professional cooking channel for a few minutes!I can tell for sure you have done this a time or two!
Haha! Thanks so much!
You are a certified bad a- - trout fisherman. You even cooked a trout for breakfast with all the fixing and had coffee with hot chocolate. I want to go do what you did in this video. “Wow” your an AWESOME fisherman!!
That’s probably the most legit catch and cook I’ve seen on the tube, most are just boiling fish in a stick of butter. Sub’d.
One of the best creekside meals I've seen prepared ! Looked absolutely delicious ! Nice job catching that fish as well !
Thanks OPN! It was tasty indeed! So glad you liked it and I'm looking forward to your next upload as well!
Dude your content is just amazing!🔥 you just earned a well deserved new subscriber! sorry for a horrible speeling job, im swedish!😂
Just found this channel as I’m grilling trout for the first time in at least 10 years. Subscribed
Cool! Hope the trout turns out tasty!
When the Old Bay came out, I knew this was the real deal!! Nicely done. Again!
Haha!! Thanks so much Eric! Really appreciate it!
When I
Live in AK, during snagging season at Seward I’d have the fire on the beach going, snag a salmon and stuff it with butter onions and garlic. Cook and eat the entire fish. All of it. Then go snag 6 more. 7 was the limit. The dog salmon was the best for smoking. I love the 5 years. At 64 now I think I’d die up there now.
fly fish hunter can ball out! had my mouth watering like the bears

Another sweet video. Thanks for taking us along. Great skills as well!! Really enjoy the catch and cook videos as well!! Stay safe brother!!
Man this video was a lot of work. Must be the thumbnail or something but bummer hardly anyone has seen it otherwise I would do more of these.
@@flyfishhunter Yeah I don’t get why people are not smashing this. It is a lot of work, but I appreciate every second of the catch and cooks. Thanks again!
Dang where is that it’s so beautiful
In Oregon. Thanks for watching!
awesome vid - best catch and cook
Dang that looks so good!!
A few things i learned:
1. When a swiss army knife is actually better than a fixed blade (cooking). The swiss cook's knife would be a better term.
2. That green bean can bend trick
3. Fish brain skulls are weak af
4. Cook on snow apparently works
5. Boil potato before - genius
6. Swiss mix has milk in it so cutting with cowboy coffee saves stomach lining
7. I still suck at fly fishing
That was a fun video thanks
Haha! Glad you got so much out of it!!
What a beautiful fish
Thanks Gary!
Amazing. Thanks great video.
I’ve really been enjoying your videos and can’t wait to watch more. Nice work! How do you like your net? Considering the same one myself, but I’m concerned it’s too long to carry with a sling pack.
Hey Tony! Thanks for checking them out and I'm glad you are enjoying them! I love that net and the extra reach it offers. It also has a big hoop so it's nice for bigger fish. It can get snagged when walking through brush but otherwise not bad. Most nets do anyway. Maybe try one at a local fly shop with your sling pack and see how it feels. Good luck!
Good job✨
Thanks so much!
That's the life
That's right!! Thanks for checking it out!
Great job, man. We don't have rainbow trout down in Louisiana but we have speckled trout which is also great eating. Your plate looked delicious. Where in Oregon did you film this?
Thanks so much!

@@flyfishhunter I don't want to blow your hole up, but might this be near-ish a guard station?

What weight rod are you using for this situation?
What’s the rod/reel setup you got here?
#Livingthedream. Awesome video.
Thanks so much Andy!
what state is this in
In Oregon! :-) Thanks for checking it out!
your leg plus waders is a very expensive cutting board homie
YOU BURNT THE FISH AND ONLY ATE A SMALL PART OF IT… shake my head waste of a fish in my opinion. This would have been better if this was a catch and release
You must have missed where I said there's plenty of fish for leftovers. I brought the rest home with me to the family.
