The footage contains a lot of information, it all goes by so quickly: 1) Okita is made to look like a screaming madman in this clip, but this is a rarity for him to show such emotion. He's showing how desperate their situation is. 2) The Yamato can only assess the battle situation from the moment they emerge from warp. The captain devises a desperate plan to dive into the artificial planet's clouds while they figure out what to do. 3) I like the part where Yuki (my channel name) notes the enemy is flanking them, and manages to penetrate the Wave Motion Shields. 4) I edited out the part of Garemund Goer's only compassionate moment, where he expresses concern for the Gamilar ships that will be destroyed as his boss orders the fleet to open fire on the battleship charging through their formation. 5) Okita releases the gravity anchor at the end, slipping the ship through the galactic warp gate which is promptly destroyed by the Wave Motion Gun's lingering effect.
The Yamato's raid at Balun is by far one of the best sequences throughout the serie. Not only we get asn epic scene with the Yamato making it's way through the Gamilons, but in the same scene we see as well one of Desler's most badass scenes when proving in front of the whole navy the treachery of his general with his usual smug attitude.
It was a badass scene for Desslok, to be sure. But even he acknowledged later that he'd made a serious error. If for no other reason than unfortunate timing. He did expose and destroy the coup. But if he'd done it just a little bit sooner, the Yamato wouldn't have left the vast majority of the fleet stranded too far from Gamilus to be of any help. One has to give some unexpected points to Goer though! The man might be the most hilariously annoying bigot and suck-up in the history of Gamilus Generals (in either original OR Remake portrayals!) but he is LOYAL to a FAULT! And he actually has STANDARDS! LMAO!

In 2019 was a bad year for me. My dad was dying and I live in a mold infested apartment. Then I started watching the series and it gave me courage that I never had before. Especially episode 6, where the Yamato was the under dog, but with clever tactics won over the Pluto base. So I sue my landlord and won. With no lawyer. As much as I love Isao Sasaki's voice- no one can sing the same songs and give it the same energy and charm as he does- I prefer the instrumental version of Yamato's theme if only because it's more triumphant and optimistic than the original version that has a subtext of lamentation and grief. I can't help but wonder if the original song isn't more of an apology to the heroes of Japan who have been cast aside in their own history to appease the West, following Japan's defeat to the US forces and its defamation in WWII as an ally of the Axis powers. It's not a secret how Japan's own history books shamed these WWII "heroes" after Japan succumbed to Western pressure to lay down its arms and embrace the new era of "peace" ushered in by the Allied forces after its global victory. The original version seems to say that in another time and place, these same "unsung heroes" would've been saviors of humanity. the shock cannon are powered by the wave motion energy from the engine like the wave motion gun so think of them as a mini wave motion gun
Earth did not have such cannons operational at the time of the first episode, the Yamato was a game-changer.

Gun, gun and more fucking gun
Did i forget gun?
Luck and surprise. If you're staging a military review for the arrogance of Gamilon leaders, and they believe no one would dare stop them, that's the perfect time for a Terran ship to come flyng in!
@@yukisaudience3084 I mean who would have thought that the yamato would've come from THEIR gate
@@thesupreme8062 They were just scavengers. According to the story, the Gamilons were simply used gate technology abandoned by a lost ancient civilization that spanned the galaxies. A nice touch.
Fucking cool from japan
the whole time i'm thinking: "hit 'em with the wave motion gun b*tch!"
😂😂😂
Think of what the rebels could have done to the Death Star with the WMG

Dessler Cannon
If the gates were built by the ancients (an unknown race long extinct before the Gamilons started using the abandoned technology), it's surprising these weren't destroyed by wave motion guns in the distant past. But then we've had no show.

@@starshipgaming8912 I have all 10 seasons on DVD. A lot of American scifi was of course influenced by Japan. No one can watch the original season of Star Blazers and not think Star Wars has no debts.
If you haven't seen the broken hull and the dead bodies of the entire command crew, the Yamato has not suck and you have already lost.
Hah i want to see The enterprise try and fail to pull THIS stunt of
Xolah, as much as I love the Enterprise, it doesn't come remotely close to the Yamato/Argo! The Enterprise could never pull off something like this.
@@actarusfleed6607 I feel like it could, if it were going against weak ships like the one the Argo fights against in this clip. Obviously not the WMG part though
are you talking about the Aircraft Carrier Enterprise? said enterprise being conveted from that to a Space Craft Super Battlecarrier Enterprise? and when facing the Gamilas its nickname, the Grey Ghost, is changed by them as the Phantom Comet?
