I mean I've tried it and directly compared it to FaceTime and it's almost identical from my experience. Hard pushing these sponsors doesn't surprise me since it's what a company does when trying to spread awareness about a specific product that so happens to have the minor market share
This is basically a re-branded Google Duo. Where Google keeps dropping the ball on this is ease of use. While Google Meet is easy to use it's easier just to hit the video call button on your phones call screen while the phone call is open.
Downloading extra steps, inviting contacts going through all the different processes to set up the app is too much. All Google has to do is make this easier. Since they own Android, incorporate Google Meet as a mandatory part of the operating system for Android. As of right now they have two different video call features when you only need one. Make Google Meet the default call option throughout the entirety of the Android OS.
It seems to be something Google has been changing quite a bit over the years. I hope they read your suggestion/feedback!
Samsung has it in the Phone app.

Using it about a year. When it works it's great. Video is usually excellent and sound too BUT... It has a temper. Sometimes it rings, sometimes it won't. Phone next to the modem is complaining about weak signal, while I can get the wifi from outside the building. Bluetooth has it's on set of rules based on weather and star alignments. Switching between Call and Video is N/A. Switching between BT and speaker or phone Esp if a car is involved is a TASK, and usually ends up with dropped calls. Aside that it's not bad.

Good tip, when you do Google moments, it only saves on your device, not the other person's, for that you have to go into the photo and save it manually...
Is the best videocall app. The problem is the people don't have meet instaled in their phones. And you end up calling by whatsapp
Nothing mentioned about the actions required of the receiver of an invitation: 1. How do they receive this invitation - a text msg, an e-mail, a regular phone call which they answer just like any other phone call???: 2. is there anything in this invitation that alerts the recipient that they will need to start Google Meet? : 3. What is the recipient's next action? - respond yes, start Google Meet, or something else????
Yea, not a greatly helpful tutorial for anything OTHER than Google Meet calls.
I am just finding out about video calling. I called my husbands phone (same android I have) we video chatted, but there is now a problem. He can call (video ) me and no problem, but I have to invite him and jump thru hoops if I call him can you think of anything I am doing wrong? Please and thank you.

How about a walkthrough on using your mobile cell to call your Google Nest hub2 which is back home using Meets. Is that possible?

Yeah but what about a Google home or nest smart screen?
It's great for voice but doesn't work well with musical instruments, don't know if there's anything you can do.

Mike, how come you can't switch between video call and audio call modes on the same call? You always need to recall a person every time if you need to show something but you cannot call with video being hidden. what a mess
Google Voice is still absent in many regions as well. Not great for international contacts
I have a question: is there a free for calling via Google Meet? Let me give you an example. I'm from Poland and I need to call India. Who pays for the call. Thank you for your answer

I stopped this guy after two minutes of his speed talking. Why Google replaced Duo with Meet is beyond me. Duo worked, Meet app is problematic at best. If I start a "meeting" with one other person and invite that person it prompts me to send a personal message. Why? If I click it, a canned text message is formatted and I hit send. Then I'm left ...., and I'm out of the app. If I re-enter the app, there's no indication that my invitation was sent. And the invitee never joins. What the heck?
Same issue I'm having 😭 idk why they didn't just keep Duo

In the past i loved this app.. i used it on many occasions while other VOIP apps were giving me shit.but now this is also sucks. I cannot hear the other person correctly. Too much headache.

NOBODY wants to send a meeting invite to a friend to force them to download a app and wait for them to join. Duo was so much easier!! We just want to click and call. Save that other BS for offices!! Google trying to force downloads. I will be using whats app. GTFOH Google!!

Google Meet is the worst video App ever made. It doesn't work well on iPad, iPhone, and Desktop.
that's mostly apple's fault. They make 3rd party stuff worse to make you use their own stuff more.
