One important feature of construction equipment is the air cleaner. Best would be a 2stage Donaldson type intake, however these do take up a fair amount of under-hood space. Dirty intake air is an engine killer.
I would lean toward the Briggs engine in this application; the Briggs can be easily repaired and are fairly cheap to replace. Diesel may have more low RPM torque, but low end torque isn't really a huge factor when running hydro pumps. Over all I'm betting a Briggs gasser would be less hassle than diesel.
A big improvement would be to switch the hydro gear pump to an adjustable flow piston type. There isn't much difference in pump cost and it would allow the operator to custom adjust hydro flow to the controls (less herkie/jerky). In a perfect world there would a separate hydraulic pump feeding the track control valve. I've noticed that Chinese imports seem unnecessarily noisy, doesn't appear Chinese worry much about muffling engine noise, which isn't rocket science.
No mention is made regarding an hydraulic oil cooler, or hydraulic oil filter?
These seem like quite decent entry level machines, especially if they're only used a couple hundred hours per season.
