I had the wonderful opportunity to ride back seat in an Air Tractor a few weeks ago. My videos are not to this quality, but the ride sure was. I don't think most people realize just how high off the ground the cockpit is because I wasn't the biggest fan of climbing up to the window, shuffling along the ledge to the rear seat with my arms tucked in the top, then "swinging" in. Once I was in and buckled up, it was a blast. The getting out was worse than the climb in and I was starting to think they were going to have to sell the plane with me still in it. I've been watching crop dusting videos ever since. I think this is an addiction. Great video and your music choice was spot on. Thanks!
One day we will look back on this and think damn, we did some crazy shit back in the day.
1974-1976 I worked as the chemical mixer and loader for the AG Cat, it was a bi plane with a radial engine. Talking about high power lines, I seen the pilot hit the lower power line near ca I-5 he slid the ag cat so the prop would slice though the power line. The light show was a welding arc times a 1000, heart stopping.. he was able to land the ag cat only damage was one of the spray booms and prop had minimal damage.
Michael Goodwin my pops caught the tail of an ag cat on some lines amazing he made it through then got out of the cat and walked to the house to borrow the phone (this was the 80’s)

How do ag pilots learn to deal with power lines? It seems incredibly dangerous, is it a 'grab your nuts and go for it' thing or is there a build up to that?

Davidaun. I'm pretty sure that's misspelled but it's close enough
@@valleyagpilot1283 They're spelled Davidon, and they're fantastic. They seem to get about the same kill as an electrostatic setup but with a lot less hassle. Can't ever seem to keep the fan blades intact around the belly though.
