STUDIO VISIT: Erwin Wurm

We join Erwin Wurm for an exclusive studio visit in the Austrian countryside. The sculptor shares his thoughts on a series of recent projects before taking us into his garden, where one of his surreal Fat Houses has been installed since 2003. First conceived as a commentary on middle-class consumer culture, the installation feels more relevant than ever given our current situation.

Thank you so much. I very much appreciate this intricate presentation of Erwin Wurm's amazing and inspiring work.
Let me say this and also formulate a question: Since the day I saw a presentation at the FH Joanneum Graz when I was a student (I believe it was 2010 or 2011 I am not quite sure though) I was totally struck be the modesty and also the overall profoundness of Wurm's work, so as a result I was wondering if there is any way that a master like him would be open to teach his insights to a very willing learner. This might sound stupid and helpless but as an Austrian citizen and wannabe artist, I think that it is crucial to be in touch with the art that is being made in one's own country, not because of the attached attraction but because I feel that we are confused and very detached of the genius works of or own fellow countrymen....even if the origin is not reflected in the art itself.
If you as Gallery would have any advice of where I can find contact or be more in touch please let me know for my I am under the strong impression that this kind of art (of Erwin Wurm) is very important and profound and needs to be kept alive...
