It's crazy watching this video when I live right up where these routes are and drive on them daily and absolutely love going out and driving on them as well.
I used to drive over the road in a big truck. while i havnt been on too many of the smaller roads around there, I can imagine there are many great roads north of Atlanta. I live in Michigan and am highly envious of the quality of roads you enjoy around there.
Have you ever stood up and applauded after watching a UA-cam video? I have. And this was one of those rare occasions. Ed talks about "pioneering" a method of selling more cars, but this is a game changer! And this can be applied to many other high-end products. Typically the automotive sound shops have their customer appreciation events promoting their products, and subsequently their customers will want to one-up each other. But when you actually promote a network of friendships among your customers, it increases the interest of the product that much more. I know a few people with exotic cars and they don't really have anyone to share their car experiences with other than an occasional crossing of paths at a gas station or in a parking lot with someone having a similar caliber vehicle. And even at that, it's a 5-10 minute conversation of sharing war stories and mechanic referrals. This is awesome!
If a convoy of 30 Lamborghinis passed me at speed on a mountain road they would have to create a new medical term for the convulsions/hysteria/heart palpitations that would happen.
I had that problem a few year ago, 10+ bugatti veryon, and 2 chiron coming the opposite direction as me on highway 101, they were coming from pebble beach car show in Monterey.
Can we get stories from the CarTubers wives? Tavarish's wife and how nuts she thinks he is, likewise for Hoovie, and of course Mrs. Bolian's thoughts on the exotic car lifestyle
I once rented a Dodge Hellcat in Atlanta and drove it on these roads. Got pulled over in Rome GA going 150, but the radar only caught 88 somehow. I wish all I got from that cop was a lecture!
Ed I would love to listen to you talk about the art of selling. Every time you begin to divulge on the ideas you had they're nothing short of genius. The idea of introducing owners to one another with the idea to bring friendly competition over who has the best cars is simply genius. The understanding you have of people and the way you are able to translate that to sales in exotic cars of all things is amazing.
Hey Ed. Florida native here who loves driving and seeing what his car can do. I cant say thanks enough for sharing your gem of a route with us. Cant wait to take a trip up and responsibly enjoy it.
When Ed talks, it feels like the veil is being pulled back on the mechanics of exotic vehicle sales. I love hearing about the thought process in motivating people to purchase a product! Great stuff as usual!
Getting your customers to become friends is the best idea ive ever heard you say, wow talk simple smart and a way to keep the buisness coming and keep them having fun. So many great advice on this channel !
I stumbled across these roads while on vacation earlier this year and it was even more amazing than Ed makes it out to be. Tons of fun and you don’t even have to go fast. The roads have banked right handed hairpins that are insane even at 35mph. I had a blast and I was just in my family friendly v6 accord sedan with just a couple of suspension mods.
I lived in Jasper. I think 180 between Suches and Vogel state park is great. Also 136 over Burnt mountain is great especially going south. 52 over Fort Mountain is good. What you have to watch out for is motorcycles. The crotch rockets get out of control at times.
grant disser Back in the late 60,s went camping a lot @ Lake Winfield Scott. I remember when Woody Gap school only had a few classrooms. Did a lot of trout fishing at Cooper Creek. Favorite place to eat was The old Laprade’s
eddiesouther yea, I go to Woody gap school actually, it’s Kindergarden through 12th grade, and only 70 kids, but I’m not sure where the that old laparades restaurant you mentioned is
I lived in East TN for 4 years, before 129 became known as "Tail of The Dragon" and I can tell you from personal experience, it's 1 of the worst roads in the country. It's gotten better since they banned truck traffic but still it's just a place to see wrecks. There's so many great "flying" roads in East TN that are worlds better, such as the Foothills Parkway. I did it many times, nearly flat out, on full moon nights without any lights. I miss the 80's :-)
I’ve been carving these roads regularly since 1980 from Marietta. My current super car is a MK7 VW GTI. I avoid weekend traffic and prefer Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday drives. US64 from around Murphy, NC all the way to Cashiers, NC is another favorite.
I went to one of these runs with my first lambo 4 years ago. Ed was always cool and answered many many questions over the phone whenever I called him asking things about my gallardo even though I didn’t buy it from his dealer.
North GA roads are wonderful. I'm in NC and everyone goes to Tail of the Dragon BUT I actually like US 64 though Highlands, NC and Cashiers, NC. 64 has some extreme turns (not switchbacks but still very twisty). And of course we have the Blue Ridge Parkway which is beautiful but slow due to very conservative speed limits. Glad people are driving these cars - great video.
This has to be one of the most brilliant sales tactics I have ever heard of. It's like local bike shops that offer sponsorships to teams -- the bike shop then sells to all the friends of club members.
I remember going to Caffeine and Octane back when it was in the Alpharetta lot and even that one didn't fill up! Crazy to go now and see how much it has grown.
Ed, I could use your advice. I live up in the Blue Ridge mountains, far from any major cities and among some of the best driving roads in the country. I would love to set up a club like this for the sub-$40k car crowd (STI, Focus RS, Mustang, Camaro, GTI, S2000, CTR, etc.) but I can't think of a way to do it without attracting the absurdly irresponsible kids inherent with this class of cars. I have a really good thing going up here where the best driving roads are basically empty outside of 8am and 5pm and the few LEOs we have tend to stick to the main roads and highways. I'm so afraid of ruining it for myself by attracting any crash test dummies but my best days are always the rare occasions where I get to share the road with another enthusiast. Thoughts on how I could make this happen while still keeping things safe for everyone involved?
Great idea Ed, there is a 12 mile stretch out by a friends house that runs about 2 miles out of town and then has a 35mph left with an almost immediate right and then a 3/4 mile stretch with a 35mph left and then a 3 mile straight stretch with a 35mph right, 1/2 mile and a 35mph left, another 1/2 mile and a 35mph right, another 1/4 mile and a 35 mph left and another 3-4 mile straight stretch ending up at a stop sign in the middle of nowhere, and you can then turn left and head back to town or turn right and go to a different town and this is a great road to test on as you can get 80mph on the 35mph turns and then get it topped out on the stretches, its not a mountain pass but a fun road none the less
I know eds view on fedex drivers , however as a fedex driver I must say I know the roads that this video is talking about and there is some nice views on that route ! Plus we make nice spotters for those we like!
Yeap, it is the experience with your friends/new friends that you remember and crave. I missed my yearly trip to Fontana Village for a week this year and it totally sucks.
Very cool seeing all these pictures of driving around Blood Mountain and Neil's Gap. I see motorcycles up there all the time but no Lamborghini so far.
I live in Atlanta and ride these roads just about twice a month on a Ducati. Really nice rides all over the area from Dahlonega up to the tail of the dragon and over to Asheville.
When I bought my first Harley the dealership would host a cookout every Saturday for the same reason. Without fail they would move several bikes after we all got back from the ride
The owning it and not wanting to let it sit thing is exactly how I feel with this car in this game Forza horizon I have a Lamborghini guy ardo and I go about 200 in it and I slow down anytime I get close to a car it's so that I don't total the car
Go a little bit farther north and west to right at Ga, Tn, Al corner of Ga. it's not a long stretch but the road between Hell Town (yes that's it's name) and South Pittsburg. Is a great little mountain run with great curves. Also, half way between going up Sand Mountain is a nice run. At least last time I played on them, 68 Nova with 350, 4 barrel, and a 2 speed power glide.
Im probably going to be moving out of my state soon (in the next 3 months or so), I would love to live out west (somewhere warm etc) but for me the one thing that always stopped me to think is the driving roads or the car community. Might take my 850 and check out that route! Who knows! maybe its going to be so awesome Ill relocate there!
The problem with these group drives is that ego and testosterone sometimes kick up to level 11 when you're with a group of predominately type A personalities. Ed, you're a brave soul for organizing and leading these wolf packs. Having done a few within the Audi club over the years I generally avoid these like the plague. It seems like it always resorts to moments of mass stupidity and public road race course mentality. I'd rather read about the potentially horrific results than to have a front row seat and an opportunity to scrape a friend off the highway with a spatula. I recall one such group drive with an unspecified marque (ahem) where the group was ripping through a twisty valley road around blind corners. All of a sudden we came to a screeching halt then slowly started rounding the bend. There was a state patrol officer controller traffic for some sort of organized run. Yikes. That could have ended badly. We got quite the glare from the officer as we crawled past him as a group. ;-)
Another great, inspiring and so eloquently articulated story. The concept of actually driving the cars as a point of experience investment totally relates to Doug Demuro’s recent review of the La Ferrari and speaking with its owner Danny Lee. Speaking of Doug Demuro, can we expect his regaling us any time soon?
Many of you have asked for an in-depth look at the CL55 we used the set the Cannonball Record. I just released the video on my personal channel.
just watched it
Can we get a meet in Dahlonega maybe even do this drive?
ED! I love your voice. Is very pleasant to listen to you talk! Aloha

VINwiki I was up early to watch this hi 👋
So many great memories on these roads. One of the definite benefits of living in Georgia.
Thank you for these stories. how about a good sales story!
I moved to Asheville, NC to enjoy the roads here. I'll have to venture south and check out your loop
did your route take you through cleveland or helena?
It's crazy watching this video when I live right up where these routes are and drive on them daily and absolutely love going out and driving on them as well.

Always a pleasure listening to you

I know just where you were. Rome Ga cops are sneaky AF. Good roads tho

Getting exotic drivers together so they'll compete to have the coolest car. Genius
Worked like a charm
When Ed talks, it feels like the veil is being pulled back on the mechanics of exotic vehicle sales. I love hearing about the thought process in motivating people to purchase a product! Great stuff as usual!

I live in North GA and LOVE taking my e39 M5 up through the mountains. It is as beautiful as it is fun. Drive safe everyone!
I see ed bolian, i press like
This is so smart for a seller. How can they come to your event with a car they bought from somebody else. What social pressure!
I live in Dahlonega, these roads may be fun in a supercar but driving through the mountains in an suv can be terrible for car sickness.
Blood mountain, Richard Russel, Wolf Pen Gap. Those are the 3 must hit roads in north Georgia.
Last time I was this early, there was still hope for Christine.
This seriously helps, I’m moving to Georgia soon and couldn’t seem to find any good mountain roads on my visits there.
Ed i always enjoy listening to you tell a story. You are well spoken and exhibit a wisdom beyond your years.
I live in Atlanta and I approve this message (and loop). 😉👍🏻
Thanks!
The North Georgia mountains are very scenic. I spent some time in Clayton and also visited Bell Mountain. Nice roads and people.

Ed is a true car guy.
I'm so surprised that there aren't more Tail-of-the-Dragon tales on here considering where a lot of the guests are from.
I lived in East TN for 4 years, before 129 became known as "Tail of The Dragon" and I can tell you from personal experience, it's 1 of the worst roads in the country. How does one become a fluent speaker and story teller like Ed? Also, his grammar and usage of vocabulary is superb
Reading helps, pick up a good book.
Genius concept. Cars, boats, motorcycles and planes, you want what somebody else has, especially when you can envision yourself in/on it.

Ed Bolian is the oasis in the desert for the car community.
That is a new one.
Introduce customers to each other pure genius
Love driving the roads in northern Georgia especially near Helen. Amazing roads and an amazing town to get some dinner in after a great drive!
Agree. My in-laws live in Cleveland, GA and have a business in Gainsville, GA. Driving up there is absolutely awesome.
Thank you for the great route! Hopefully we get a nice and clear weekend soon so I can try it!

Tail of the Dragon keeps the unwashed masses away from all the other fantastic NC roads. Let's keep it that way. Shhhhhh.
One of the few things I miss about living in Greenville SC is being close to those mountains.
Used to take route 76 from Dalton on my road trips back and forth to Clemson, SC. Not as twisty, but a great route further to the north.
Actually starting something like this for all the car/motorcycle enthusiasts in my church
I used to love riding that route on my motorcycle! Wolf Pen Gap was really fun too but probably a little too technical for a sports car.
GOOD MORNING VinWiki!
I love living literally 30 minutes away from Dahlonega. I have to try this route for myself!
You will love it.
Ed talking about my hometown.

It has his calming effect with his voice I could listen to him for days the way his voice has he could sell a can of Coke to the Coca-Cola Company
I noticed I spoke more slowly on this one. Not sure why that was. May have been a bit tired.
Very cool seeing all these pictures of driving around Blood Mountain and Neil's Gap. I see motorcycles up there all the time but no Lamborghini so far.

Ed’s voice so chill
Thanks Ed! I'm off to get some tickets now 😎
I don't care if a car has miles if its mechanical sound.
Good morning, have a wonderful Wednesday!
I live in Atlanta and ride these roads just about twice a month on a Ducati. Really nice rides all over the area from Dahlonega up to the tail of the dragon and over to Asheville.
ED should do a rebuild project
What should we rebuild?
VINwiki F80 M3 or M4
VINwiki an air-cooled Porsche turbo of the 993 vintage 😃
Obi-Wan Kenobi He's got a pretty nice 993
Charles Magic yeah he does, it is pretty sweet
Yeah Ed, when I finally come to USA I will use that road to push some rental econobox to the limit. Greetings from Poland
Dude I live up towards BlueRidge and go to school in Dahlonega 😂 It’s great knowing where he’s talking about.
TheRealIsaac Pat same, I live in suches though, if you even know where that is up there 😂
Will be borrowing this route as I drive home to North Carolina from Texas
Have fun and be safe.
Value out of experience, rather then cost appreciation... Every time
Those of us with more normal cars do not get this "respect" from officers
I have some new summer plans now...have been looking for some good roads in North Georgia and will investigate this
Holy crap bro !! I live in dahlonega and you said it correctly !! It’s a rare thing to hear. Great videos !!
Ed, you're wellspoken. Could listen to you tell stories about watching paint dry
Love the Ed stories!
When I bought my first Harley the dealership would host a cookout every Saturday for the same reason. Without fail they would move several bikes after we all got back from the ride
How about we take a moment to soak in the good memories, when Chevron gas was only $2.72 😅. @0:33

Are we ever going to get Clarkson to come and tell a story?
Ha. That would be a lot of fun. Not sure we are on his radar yet.
Where’s the Waze link?!
How do we make that?
VINwiki, it’s new. I’ve started seeming them pop up on websites and it is awesome!
VINwiki I think it’s called a “waze deep link”.
Some say if you listen closely you can hear the path of a great salesman.
You could sell phones over the phone. You’ve got the gift
I’m from Dahlonega Ed. I think it’d be cool to do a meet and greet here if possible 👍
Parth Patel a meet in greet in Dahlonega would be awesome I live there
I live an hour south of Atlanta and the roads are ass. I'm excited to drive this sometime this year.
Western PA has some glorious roads, the roads in cities will kill your wheels but we have some good AF back roads
I see this and I'm like hmmmm I live in Georgia lol keep up the good work everyone at vinwiki
Dude, I'm in Huntsville, AL and recorded his map. I did talk of the dragon mother's day weekend and it was awesome. I'm up for this.
@@gitcypherous although I just drive a Kia Rio, this does seem awesome, me and my little in line 4 🤣👍
Ed, 7:03 you say diesel fuel made the car spin out, but that tree branch looking road debris on the right side if the screen looks like the culprit.
It was definitely an immediate loss of all traction.

I’m sure if you had a rental facility near the base of a mountain run, you would make tons of money. It would be an ingenious business investment.
