- No reefer can have just one tank. For my “side-tank” I wanted someone to grow some leather corals, so I set up this 3.8 gallon pico tank to complement my main tank. This video covers the start to finish build, much of which occurred in a single afternoon. Dry in the morning, coral by noon.
Setup:
Lifegard Aquatics 3.8-gallon pico peninsula
Hydor pico 200 gph return pump
Lifegard 50w heater
Live sand and Marco Rock
Kessil a80 15w LED light
Leather coral, Ricordea florida, zoanthids and a couple snails
Lookin good. There’s just something special about a simple nano.
Agreed.
Great episode 👏
Cool little tank.
Thanks!
Corals look great
Thanks!
No you don’t wanna rinse the sand it comes with a water Clare
Your pico is incredible, I started a pico and I can’t get anything to survive, cycled it for a month need help
🤷🏼♂️ I’m not a pico expert. I pulled everything from a super established tank and do like an 80% water change every week with my established tank - no fish
I have about the same size tank. , no fish, just dose phyto. Once every other week I suck the pods off the glass and dose my main tank. It's like a pretty pod culture
I’m starting to notice a ton of pods on the glass in the pick, so I may do that, lol. The mandarin in my main tank would appreciate it.
@@NBurgReef that's why I did it. Mine eats pellets but they need something to do all day. And my pod culture was never interesting enough to keep going
I have a 3.7gal freshwater tank that I will want to change it to a saltwater. Going to try to model it like yours! Are you planning on putting any fish in this tank?
No, there are only a few fish that would be small enough for it and probably make it much harder to manage.
If this is your first foray into saltwater, starting with a small tank may be very challenging
@@NBurgReefYellow clown Goby easy.
Hi, What measurements does the aquarium have?
Around 14" long, including the filter chamber, and about 8" deep and 8" tall.
