Currently live in Atlanta and can’t wait to move! All the points mentioned are exactly why I am seeking to relocate to Savannah. Such a beautiful city with great people!
Tips for the humidity. Your hair reverts because it’s dehydrated. Try regular steam treatments and a cream then oil to lock in the moisture before heat styling
I’m so glad! Me too. We went to dinner at the new restaurants on River St. at the Plant Riverside last week. The seafood place was awesome and we watched a huge container ship almost get stuck under the bridge so it was very entertaining too. 🤣 I could do with the extreme humidity right now though. Come on Fall!
We were in Savannah the year before COVID. We loved the place, the sights, the people every thing that there is. Great place. I hope we can get there again when things are well. Regards and respect from Arthur and Jan in the UK.
Speaking as a native central Pennsylvanian now living in Athens who wouldn't be the least bit sad if he never saw another snowflake again, I'll gladly take an awesome thunderstorm over shoveling snow !
Thank you for not moving to Texas. You Californians have driven up the costs here & very sickening to attend the Cowboy & Maverick playoff games this year against both California teams & 40 percent of the people in attendance are from California SMH 😠
I loooooooove thunderstorms. No matter how intense! But, as blasphemous as this sounds, i am a born and raised new englander, and dont like seafood. But on the other hand, being a born and raised Massachusetts resident, i am perfectly adept to old world architecture and cobblestone streets. So sweet! :)
They're really fun, until your power gets knocked out and you need a boat instead of your car to get to the store!! 🤣🤣 nah, I love my town. But we could use faster power repairs!
Top reasons you might not want to move to Massachusetts, 7. you hate seafood 6. You want to go out without a wool hat 5. You can't take the ever extreme changing weather were people drive 90+ in a blizzard 4. an airport that is the hardest to land on in North America do to the ocean 3. you don't want to pay a million on a cottage and pay higher taxes than almost every other state, unless you want ocean front property that will cost you three times as much 2. you don't like old houses 1. you take a walk down the street trip fall and the person behind you walks over you. I went there during the early 2000s.The city is absolutely beautiful and the people in my experience were really friendly.I have some ancestry going back to the early 1800s and two of them are buried at the Catholic Cemetery. So the property tax situation in the Savannah area is affordable? That would put Savannah on my list of places to retire to. I have been in my townhouse in suburban Chicago since 1998. My property taxes went up $1,000 this yesr... ouch. I want out of Illinois big time...hopefully in 4 to 5 yerars, maybe less, depending on my family obligations

Hi Brad, thanks for the comment! However, it really depends on where you live. For example, I live about 28 miles inland and it is not required where I live. But you are 100% correct that if you live on one of the islands, or by a river or the marsh, you will probably be required to have it if your house is in a flood zone.

You are hilarious! A few years ago I moved from the dry southwest to Jacksonville, FL, I freaked out when I was driving around and it downpoured so bad I had no visibility. Thankfully I was close to my house and remembered my way home. There were fallen branches everywhere in my neighborhood. The hair! Yes, I used to flat iron it quite often, but once there I had no choice than to learn to embrace my curly hair. I ended up liking my curls. It's a laid-back city. Just enjoy it. Take your cocktail in a 'traveler' to promenade around the Riverside. Eat some good low-country food. Enjoy the beauty and history of this old, colonial city. Also, the regulars really love when ladies wear hats and dresses. You'll get many compliments. The 'uniform' for men are polos and buff-colored dress shorts, maybe some boat shoes. I must admit, I can’t stand snakes either but I’ve only seen a couple of alligators in the years I’ve lived here. They seem to mind their own business out in the pond.
Okay, I live in Savannah, and even though we're on the coast, there are VERY few restaurants that actually have decent seafood. Having been in the Restaurant business 20 plus years, I can tell you that most of the restaurants here are VERY overrated. Ruth's Chris is not worth the money, never going back there. Steakhouse, that can't do a fantastic steak. The city government is as corrupt as they come. Just got nearly 3 million to help the homeless and less fortunate, AAAND nothing being done, actually there seems to be more homeless. So where's that money? And to. contradict this chick on how friendly people are, THEY AREN'T. Unless you're already known in the area, people will ignore you here just like anywhere else. There's the occasional friendly hello, but it happening like this woman says? Not happening. The ONLY place to get decent seafood is the little seafood places. Restaurants get it in FROZEN (which is not in itself a horrible thing, if prepared right), but most will go on to say they have FRESH seafood, which they absolutely do not.
Hmmm.... I don’t know which restaurants you are eating seafood at, but there are MANY great places to eat fresh seafood! Spanky’s fried shrimp, Driftaway cafe has firecracker shrimp 🎯, crab shack, and several places downtown and Tybee Island... but yeah, if you’re going to bonefish grill, it’s frozen
Like I've previously said, the best places are sometimes the little hole in the wall restaurants! I tell everyone to STAY AWAY from crab shack, most river street restaurants (the hotel rooftops are OK, but it comes at a hefty price) even Paula Deens Lady & Sons! I am related to her and she is a great lady but if you want to stand in line for 2 hours for overcooked buffet-ish food, go for it! I do love Mrs Wilkes, though! And Husk is awesome!
@@belle_thegoldiegirllol the places you listed do not have fresh seafood and are terrible restaurants!!! When I moved to Savannah I worked at the crab shack. They add a can of lump crab meat to a can of Campbell’s cream of celery n call it crab stew or something. You think they’re catching snow crab off Tybee? Sav has shrimp and blue crab. If anything at a restaurant were to be locally caught it’s that. And that’s a big IF. And blue crab? No thanks.

I must admit, I can’t stand snakes either but I’ve only seen a couple of alligators in the years I’ve lived here. They seem to mind their own business out in the pond.
All true.
Lol, not that humid😂😂😂
Sounds like 7 reason to move to savanna lol count me in
Okay, I live in Savannah, and even though we're on the coast, there are VERY few restaurants that actually have decent seafood.
@@belle_thegoldiegirl driftaway..... YES!! CRACK SHACK... NO!!! Such a tourist trap! Yuck, you're better off going to the shell house!
No thanks.
I do hate seafood.
What?!?! Not possible. I don’t believe it. 🤣
