  • Yep... You read that correctly... Kinda.
    I didnt crash it or anything like that, but the motor is done. So its time to fix it, sell it, and be on to better things. Im gunna miss this bike.
    WHAT HAPPENED:
    I was just riding with my buddy, the usual super late night ride about 2 months ago or so, and half way through the ride the bike started making a little weird rattle noise. Couldn't pin point what the noise was or where it was coming from but it didn't sound right. (Ended up being the bearing) So from that point I said well... I have no other way of getting home so I gotta baby it home. And take the shortest route possible. So we took the toll road. About 3 minutes from my apartment, while doing 80mph in 6th, the bike started to violently shake like I was riding over a rumble strip on the shoulder, so I immediately pulled in the clutch and killed the bike and pulled over. Once that happened, (crank broke in half at that point) the engine was completely seized and wouldn't even think about turning over. Had to wait for FryRiding to come with his trailer and pick me up in the middle of the night. That's what happened.

    Love the interaction with the Pooch there AK. Anyone who loves dogs is good with me. I brought my harrier hound home with me to Ireland in 2011 after 18 years in Boston. He still has that Boston twang !!! LOL

    That's cool that you're working up there now. I still think that Central Texas Powersports is the best shop in the area! Too bad about the R1, though looking forward to seeing what you get next. =D

      +Brussell512 They are definitely the best dealership in Central Texas. Best and friendliest staff, and the best kept facility.

    • @daithilacha1
      @daithilacha1 8 років тому

      +MrDominicanito Santo Domingo Not at all. they are an incredibly reliable bike, and have been even ridden around the World by adventurers going through swamps, deserts etc.....Bear in mind, that they tend to be ridden quite hard, so make sure you get a full service history, and try and find one with low miles and a good owner. Maybe an older owner who rides it more gently and avoids racing with his friends and doing wheelies, drag starts etc.....By the way I have a 2008 R1 for 3 years now with 22k miles on it and have never had a single issue with it..

    • @daithilacha1
      @daithilacha1 8 років тому

      +MrDominicanito Santo Domingo Get the 07-08 model over the 04-06 version as its got a bit more power, a wider power band, better brakes and steering. Personally, I think it looks better too. More aggressive looking.

      James Marshall the 04-06 has more power... More tq due to having 4 extra valves what are you talking about

    I am looking for a used Honda CBR600RR or a ZX6-R or an R6 lol not too used though! Probably like a 2010-2013 ish. Less than 10,000 miles. I live in Fort Worth, do you guys have anything that fits my category ? :D

      Nothing that's cheap. Plus then you need to pay them to take everything apart, and out everything in, set everything up, re-time everything out the engine back together and put the engine in. Which is hours upon hours upon hours of labor. Which is very expensive.

    How does this work? Putting a used engine in a used bike how can you tell how used it is? Like how many miles a bike has etc. If I was a potential buyer how would I know if I'm getting a good deal or not?

    • @TheAK47s
      @TheAK47s  8 років тому

      That's the sucky part. There really isn't a way. You just have to trust the seller. I apparently always trust the wrong sellers. Which is why the next bike will be new.

    • @TheAK47s
      @TheAK47s  8 років тому

      Which is also why when I put the new engine in, I'm going to sell it and not keep it and risk any more failure from that engine

    • @bomber16693
      @bomber16693 8 років тому

      Should still be cheaper than $1500 all up and most engines ive seen only have 9,000-20,000km on them, i was going to buy a 09 r1 motor with 12,000km for my buggy it was only $800 but somone beat me to it before my pay day.

    • @TheAK47s
      @TheAK47s  8 років тому

      +Robert Garden (Bomber) The engines for the 04-06 I have found to actually me a little more expensive than the crossplane ones. Unless you want one where the entire engine case has been sanded down by a 100mph lowside
