I am not very old, I'm only in middle school, I play clarinet in band, When I am older, I plan on getting a scholarship in music. I would like to play like this some day. In additions to playing the clarinet, eventually I would like to get better at other instruments. Enough said, I completly agree as well, I don't even listen to much music other than classic, because it helps me see others play very well. If I listen to Mozart, the following generations will, too.
mikaela C. You sound very dedicated. I can tell this music inspired you. This woman is extremly good and flawless clairmet player. You'll have your work cut out for you to be at her level. When I was your age, I was 1st chair French Horn playert. I switched from trumpet at my Band directors request, because I had natural ability so he decided to put me on a more challegeing instrument. I say if you are a more advanced player than your peers, you might have a chance if you persue. Good luck!
rbagel55 i have been told by my peers that i was important to the rest of the clarinet players in my band and that i play very well. at the end of my school year, we had a talent show. there were only three instrument players in the show, me being one of them. all of the others played music from parts of a book we have that are from like when you first learn what instrument your playing. i when above and beyond that and found a music sheet that was more for players two grades older than me at the time. p.s.- the other two were from a grade older than me lol. i rocked it, i honestly was a little scared when later that same day people (including teachers) kept coming up to me and saying i was awesome. there were like 30 people that told me that throughout the day. :)
To be listening to music in 2021by the great Wolfgang Amadeus born in 1756 is beyond amazing , great clarinet player , musicians and director . THank you for the joy ! ! ! !
I always used to think that musicians who moved excessively while playing were just being pretentious - until I saw a video of myself playing the piano. I've asked many other musicians and most of them also say that they are unaware of their movements.
silvr94 My high school band class used risers during class (there wasn't anywhere else to put them where they wouldn't be in the way, so they were set up in the band room) my trumpet player friend managed to knock himself right off the top row. Just fell right back and hit the floor 😂
It depends on the musical instruments they play, I'm a pianist, always sitting in front of the piano, however, if a clarinet player I were I CANNOT HELP DANCING AND JUMPING AROUND playing this concerto :-)
This music is exactly what i want to hear in my last minutes of life. I think it's the nearest anyone could hear to feel heaven & God. Thanks Mozart for this high sensitive music. Lucky we are.
I read somewhere that the great Benny Goodman wanted to listen to his favorite recording of his "beloved" Mozart clarinet concerto during his final hours (or maybe it was that he wanted a copy of the score with him)...at any rate, what beautiful music to leave this "mortal coil" with!
I love how she moves when she feels the music. So many soloists don't and I think it's such a shame. It really adds to the performance and gives you a sense of how important the music is to the player.
+Katie Holton Indeed ! The flowing movements speak to how the music makes the soloist feels about the music. If the music makes you dance , then dance to the music !. I played Mozart in concerts, but my body never moved much, just no dancing connection there. Sharon's movements flow with the music .....Dance on !
I had the great pleasure of playing in an orchestra that accompanied her for the Copland Clarinet Concerto. She made it sound like she was improvising the whole thing on the spot in genius fashion. I'll never forget that beautiful performance.
It's ok to move like that but you can hear the sound changing and morphing as the instrument moves up and down. It's not necessarily musical either (the way that the tone mutates as she does it) She could still play beautifully with amazing phrasing and musicality without moving as much in my opinion. This way, the sound will be more even.
I have played clarinet on and off for over half a century, and so I love clarinet pieces. This is the best performance of this piece I have ever heard.
My dad played most of the instruments within his reach. The most I remembered of him playing was the clarinet. I love to listen to the sound of clarinet. It reminds me of him as he has gone.
I find her movements add a level of passion that wouldn't be there if she stood like a statue and simply played the notes. I play saxophone, mostly the tenor and occasionally double on clarinet so I DO know this.....she's VERY good....much better than me. BRAVO from the USA!
IMAGINE! What the world would be like without wars. There are so many beautiful ways for humanity to express itself. Why should we even think of anything less?
+Rodrigo Lopes ~ History proves you mostly correct, and that is why I used the expression 'Imagine'. But history also proves, that people CAN and HAVE lived in peace, and have done so for longer periods than # 1 warmonger America has been in existence, a country formed by imbeciles no longer tolerated back on the British Isles. Some of those peaceful people were found by that violent bastard Columbus when he arrived on Hispaniola, where Natives had lived in peace for centuries without war. As such they were easy to subdue. Were they 'bored' because they didn't know war? I have my doubts. On a developmental / evolutionary level however, the principle of war is a regression. War, regardless of how sophisticated the weaponry, is most closely related to actions associated with our most primitive neural aspect, the pip-squeak reptilian brain, lowest of our five-part brain system. Is that sort of functioning something to be proud of for a so-called 'advanced being'? Probably not. If all Mozart had available - since we're on this page here - was that pea-sized brain, we would never hear any of this music, for the only uttering produced would be some growls, moans and huffs, but there may well be a lot more capable distance runners like your outstanding namesake from Portugal, Carlos Lopes. That just for kicks : - ) Have a great day.
+SubtleKnowledge I've actually suspected for some time that there are people today who think life without violence would be boring. But just the thought that there are so many people who think war is necessary was too depressing, so I didn't bother to explore further. It just shows that regardless of scientific and technological progress we've made, human spirit seems to be incapable of true advance.
Wrong! The spirit is capable of advances we cannot possibly imagine with the material brain of ours. Most of us dumb fuckers (excuse my French) are stunted to the point where grasping anything outside of the material realm is no longer possible. Nature provides countless clues as to what our possibilities are. Like a tree, we can grow in two different dimensions: The root system and the above ground system, each relatively mirror one another. Of course there are carrots too, which mostly employ just one tap-root, but provide a beautiful, visible greenery above surface. So, in spite of my multiple shortcomings, I have decided to see the world as an opportunity to grow spiritually (and that may be our only purpose) and see where that takes me. So far i have little to complain about, but I do make the mistake fairly frequently to invent trouble where none should exist, probably just to test where the hell I am in my evolution ; - )
SubtleKnowledge People are not aware of the beauty of a material world, let alone of any kind of abstract ideas or spirituality. We are doomed. Even the world war is still a possibility. This should have been a time when a big wave should've been felt. A time when people communicate with each other and become more and more open. Instead, we have wars in undeveloped countries and depression and boredom in the most advanced ones. People have no clue about how beautiful life could be.
Bravo, Bravo!!! A flawless performance. Wonderful intonation with the orchestra and note-perfect. The nuance with dynamic phrasing is something to hear. How wonderful is the Basset Horn in this performance, with all of those wonderful low notes below the normal (written) Eb of the Soprano Clarinet. Listening to a performance of this standard simply brings the music of Mozart alive with a beating heart into the Twenty-First Century. Bravo, to Sharon Kam, but also to Maestro Manfred Honeck and the wonderful musicians of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. How privileged was the audience at this performance.
the low register starting around the 4 minute mark had me nearly orgasmic. I don't think most people appreciate how hard it is to go from above the staff to the bass of it. Clarinet has 4 octaves to it. She just jumped two ranges with absolutely no adjustment period. That is mastery. The tightness of your grip and lips on the top registry with the high and delicate sounds are so very different than the loose hollow meloncoly notes you must be of one continual low push from the base of your body outwards which also different from the chipper whimsical play that's happening around 9 minutes where you have to have a loose grip and a tight lip. The fact she can bounce so flawlessly is clear mastery that I did not appreciate until i got a clarinet back 5 years after having mine destroyed in a car wreck. This is the first weekend I've really tried playing it since I bought myself a used one as a birthday gift three weeks ago. Her mastery makes me giddy
A true master of the instrument - she's definitely one of my idols! Love this interpretation. Such grace and fluidity in the playing but she still captures all the different characters
Very nice indeed. Thanks, Mozart, and thanks, Sharon, and thanks, Czech Philharmonic- good job all around. The world is a better place for such stuff. It's also nice to hear the original version on this extended clarinet, which can play the notes Mozart composed.
I am very glad this showed up today on UA-cam. This brings back awesome memories. I played this in high school. Earned me a scholarship to a music school. Decided on another path. No longer play clarinet. The second movement is the hardest to play.
If you're irritated by how she moves, do what I do and switch to a different tab and just listen to the music instead. Problem solved. No negativity needed!
If you're irritated by how she moves, you clearly need to get out and see more music performed live. Any music. That's how musicians move. The same is true of a heavy metal guitarist doing a solo. The music comes from a place of deep feeling, or else it's not good music.

The most beautiful clarinet performance. Gives me a longing to buy myself a alt clarinet and start playing again. I had alt clarinet lessons in High School, I played with the same passion.
Sharon Kam is so absorbed by the music, it is a real pleasure to see her performing. Bravo to her, Manfred Honeck and the magnificent orchestra for this immortal music piece by Mozart.
this is simply beautiful music to the ears - never mind if she moves - just listen - Mozart is supreme when it comes to clarinet concertos - an instrument they say he didn't care for !
as a young fella 30 years ago we used to perform this in High School ....now that I am older I appreciate even more. In fact I now think this is Mozart's best concerto ever for clarinet . Fabulous !!
oh my gosh that was the most beautiful performance I've ever seen I'm a clarinet player and that blew my mind the world would just not be the world without music👏
I know! I used to play in my middle school concert band, and I loved the instrument! I had to quit however, because the cost of staying was far too great for my dad to pay
I would LOVE to attend a concert in a hall as beautiful as that, just once in my life! The entire experience of hearing this orchestra in this hall would be unforgettable. I am probably too old to start dreaming about this now. . .
This woman gives a most beautiful rendition of this piece. Julian Bliss is another excellent exponent of the classical clarinet and I love listening to him. But Sharon Kam has captured my heart. She plays so wonderfully well and enriches my appreciation of the Adagio, particularly. I am transported. :)
W.A.Mozart te hace amar. GRACIAS AMIGO y HASTA PRONTO.
This absolutly magnificent composition is marvellously performed by the artist supported by a great orchestra. Really worthwhile to watch and listen to this video performance. The genius of W.A. Mozart
Le bonheur absolu ! Quelle merveilleuse clarinettiste !
A great concert for mozart piece, fabulous playing the sinphonic checkz orchestra and the one solist the director good ! thanks. grillo. the saint III.
Such a performance of perfection. Yet a gentle applause after nearly 30 minutes of bliss, I would probably have embarrassed myself and shouted it from the rooftops. A brilliant orchestra and yes, I believe there was a lady called Sharon, to whom no words could describe her performance.
Every note Mozart penned in this great concerto was absolutely perfect.
Do you hear the similarities with his 3rd Violin Concerto?
Same year as he died. Incredible.....
Thank god for mozart.
Thank God indeed. What a guy.

100% agree. She has a depth I have not heard before. Her adagio is a revelation of the human soul

One of several reasons Glenn Gould quit stage and went to the recording studio was of the criticism people made of his movements.
Her head flinches too excessively. You can't disagree.

Thanks for sharing beautiful performance video.
The quality of her sound is superb. Her control is superb. I listen to this concerto with her playing often.
Listening to the brightness of the clarinet makes me feel so good...

The most beautiful clarinet performance. Gives me a longing to buy myself a alt clarinet and start playing again. I had alt clarinet lessons in High School, I played with the same passion.
7:00 I thought she was playing with three hands.
You are right, jaja
XD
Kkkkkkkk

Never watch or listen Mozart for 25 years old. it's the first time and it's so amazing. POWERFUL
Un'esecuzione magnifica, impeccabile, grandiosa. Grazie.
É vero.

This is amazing, I love the basset, it sounds gorgeous.
Stunning. Even more amazing when you consider Mozart pretty much introduced clarinets to the world.
I think I'm Mozart binging again.
Gemütlich sitzen, Augen zu und konzentriert zuhören-phantastisch !!!!
Watching this made me pumped up to be a better clarinetist and musician!!!!!!!!
Sharon Kam is so absorbed by the music, it is a real pleasure to see her performing. Bravo to her, Manfred Honeck and the magnificent orchestra for this immortal music piece by Mozart.

Only Morazt can compose such marvellous music!!!
a million and one things to do but instead I'm dancing around the house with my children to this beauty. I love it
this is simply beautiful music to the ears - never mind if she moves - just listen - Mozart is supreme when it comes to clarinet concertos - an instrument they say he didn't care for !
as a young fella 30 years ago we used to perform this in High School ....now that I am older I appreciate even more.
The spirit of Mozart's music will live on forever never to die in the hearts of Mozart lovers ❤
Gracias. 💐❤🙏🎶
Beautiful! I love her passion for music!
One of my favorite works. Mozart was truly touched by God.
Or maybe it was his own phenomenal genius...I always marvel that SO MUCH beautiful music could be in one guy's head (and in such a short life)
So many lovely nuances and personal touches that enhance this performance.
Sharon Kam is incredible!
This one's the best version of the concerto I've found
Wow, such beautiful tone! One of my favorite recordings of this piece. Now, if only I could get my hands on a basset clarinet!
What a brilliant clarinetist!
Thank you so much. wonderful performance!!!! many thanx.......
One of the most interesting versions of this concert I have ever heard. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!
W.A.Mozart te hace amar. GRACIAS AMIGO y HASTA PRONTO.
This absolutly magnificent composition is marvellously performed by the artist supported by a great orchestra. Really worthwhile to watch and listen to this video performance. The genius of W.A. Mozart
my mum's favourite music. she was gentle, kind and patient, she was like the adagio
I've always thought the 2nd movement is one of the most beautiful pieces of classical music in existence.
She plays beautifully, one of my top clarinetists indeed.
Was breath taking. Brings back Memories of my dear Dad. He was in a Vice Regal Band in 1930's.. also British Army 19-14 -18 War.
Le bonheur absolu ! Quelle merveilleuse clarinettiste !
I just loved her control of the low register notes in the beautiful second movement.
Sharon Kam's performance was mind blowing. Amazing.
Really like the appearance of the concerto hall as well!
It's so weird ever since I started playing the clarinet I've found a new appreciation for musicians.
THE single best piece of work by Herr Mozart.
Mozart's music flows into the soul and tells you that beauty lives there.
She plays so beautifully and so naturally. So lovely to listen to - and to watch.
Obrigado por esse momento maravilhoso.
what wonderful, inspiring music and performance; Sharon Kam is wonderful and also a honor to Israel.
Thanks for sharing this incredible performance.
What a beautiful concert hall and a gorgeous recording.
merci pour ce merveilleux concert
A great concert for mozart piece, fabulous playing the sinphonic checkz orchestra and the one solist the director good ! thanks. grillo. the saint III.
Such a performance of perfection. Yet a gentle applause after nearly 30 minutes of bliss, I would probably have embarrassed myself and shouted it from the rooftops. A brilliant orchestra and yes, I believe there was a lady called Sharon, to whom no words could describe her performance.
I would have stood and shouted f^&ckin a man! But that's just me.
