This is not about his last song. Its not about just being gay. Its about him not feeling comfortable at a young age for all the hate. Hate being black and even gay. People made fun of him and people continue to because of who he is.
He said the song was a message to his younger self so I saw him in all white as himself going through his memories and giving himself encouragement as a teen. Thanks for your reaction!
Exactly what I thought! I see the one with the suit as himself in present, being himself, practically being a god of his own life. However, himself in 2017 was obviously unhappy with himself, and the reason 2017 lil nas’ eyes turn white like present lil nas’ is because he catches up to him and becomes as happy as present lil nas x. Just a little theory of mine.
Per Lil Nas X, a few days ago: “In the ‘Sun Goes Down’ music video, I go back in time to visit a younger version self who’s struggling inside, hating himself, and doesn’t want to live anymore. I try my best to uplift him. I can’t wait to share this song and video with you guys on Friday. This one is really special to me.”
The white suit symbolizes his higher self watching his past mistakes that’s why he’s meditating on some spiritual shit so like the avatar state when aang saw his higher self
I’m a big lil Nas X fan and i think this might be my favorite song. It’s so mellow and different than his other song and that first line of the first verse where he says “Youuuuuu need” hits so hard
He did it again! I don't think this song is going to be as big as CMBYN due to the lack of shocking value but it's definitely one of his best work. The vibe, the lyrics, the story behind it, the message. He dit it again! We are witnessing the rise of a great artist!
Yeah, orange shirt's "out on the limb" is wrong. This is about his past, not the backlash from his last song. CMBMN wasn't a mistake. He stands by that song and video, as he should. Also he's not a guardian angel. He's his higher self. This video is not damage control for the last one so let that theory go fellas. Also, I know that the brother in the black jacket is agreeing that this song is about his past, but I do want to say that it doesn't matter that Nas X didn't come out to the world until after Old Town Road. If kids in school even suspects that a boy is gay, by his demeanor or if he mostly hangs around girls, they'll call him gay, pick on him, and shun him for it whether he admits to it or not. Just tryna educate a lil. When it isn't your experience or you haven't thought to inform yourself, you can have good intentions but still be out of touch. Bless y'all.
The song would've been written before the video came out. I think it's a personal story. What he's doing in the video is a visual representation of what's called "inner child work". It's a method of processing trauma by talking to your younger self, affirming and being there for your younger self in ways you and others didn't before. I did this for a couple of years in therapy, years back. Love this reaction!
It's about his past, a message to younger self, not his recent video. He is part of two marginalized communities. He is a black man AND gay. He struggled with accepting his blackness and being closeted at the same time. He also got hate for his old Nicki stan account recently which is one of his "past mistakes".
this music video is like a song to his past self and also the part when he was on his phone in class he was on his nicki stan account and it was a secret no one knew and that’s when we felt safe and at prom i’m pretty sure he was sad cuz he felt like he didn’t belong and also cuz he didn’t have a date since he was gay and it wasn’t the same as to now
What I love about this video is that in every other story of this type you'd have the down and out person connect in the end with a friend or family, and they'd pull them out of their dark hole. But not here. For Lil Nas, it was his OWN BETTER SELF that saved him. The white-eyed figure represents his future self and mindset. That's why he changes to become that figure in the very end. This is the story of his own self-actualization. There are so many people/kids that would NEVER have friends or family to save them like is depicted in a lot of these kinds of stories, or are in situations where their friends/family are the CAUSE of their suffering. And Lil Nas is showing that there's hope, escape, and ultimately victory completely within yourself. A kind of story I don't think is told often enough.
All of the songs from lnx Old Town:🤠 Panini:🤖 Rodeo: 🧛 Industry: 👮♂️ Montero: 👹 Sun goes down: 🥲 its really important to him and this is related to me when he said sense ten I've been feeling lonely had friends but they were picking on me I got bullied in high school but I didn't even care
I don't think he was trending for the wrong reasons. There was a lot more love goin his way than the hate. Cause if you actually took the time to see the video, and contemplate what your seeing, there is a lot about LGBT folks reclaiming things that certain religious folk call us (demonic/Satan worshipers/going to hell) I mean he probably knew there would be some religious folk who would take one look and be offended by it, but it was by and by, a reclamation. I do think these two songs are on the same page, if the other side, showing him being vulnerable. You can reclaim something, and still be able to share those moments where that hurt actually hit its mark.
Facts! I think some people just saw it at face value and don’t actually know what the message and symbolism means, they see the devil and react. I think that scene illustrates what some religious people see when people embrace their sexuality or gender, they see it as evil and demonic without giving it a chance or thought. I find that sad. Lil Nas X is making art! 👍
No this song is his song about him self that’s why he started bring up Nicki in the song and he talked about going through some of this stuff back in his beginning of his career but he didn’t go all the way in to what he want though so this song is about him
He's like his own guardian angel Or like, the ghost of Montero future reflecting on what he'd tell his past self. I love this. All things will pass & you won't always be in such a bad way. There's others in the same boat So have faith
"past mistakes" definitely doesn't refer to Montero, he's proud of Montero, and he'd never considered making homophobes mad a mistake (as he shouldn't) XD
Lil nas x, this song is his past about people treating him differently because hes gay, and when he was in the bathroom when he put his hand on his shoulder he was basically saying "im here for you and your not alone" amd when he was quite nibidy knew anything and thats why peooke were treating him different and now look at him
Love your reaction vids!...especially when y'all judging him for his talents and not his sexuality (like when you watched montero and just bobbed your head and went with it haha instead of being "weirded out"). Y'all real men. But the song is about his past, dealing with suicidal thoughts, struggling with sexuality, felling alone, etc.
This is not a response to Call Me By Your Name ...it is a precursor. This is him looking at his past self and providing context as to the WHY of CMBYN . I would imagine it could be enlightening esp for those who didn’t read between the lines or have the lived experience of a queer person, not to mention a queer person of color
I dont think it's about his past vidoe because he did say he worked at taco bell and you can see him when he was in highschool and he's at prom and had a nicki fan page

He's not gay
@Alysia Williams I don't live under a rock and in one of his live streams he said he isn't gay
@@Protein_ratschile yk he be trolling like hell, why would you believe him??😭

He was the first in his family to go to college but dropped out and he was homeless for sometime before hitting it big with old town road.

It's definitely about his past he also confirmed that
I just did a reaction for this official video - this song is poppin!
I cried a little bit for that song
He is a legend that is for true
Everything is in this video is his personal experience💯🥺
He said he wrote the song a year ago and it was very personal. It's not a reaction to the last song
Imma just say, it’s not a guardian angel he’s just reacting to his old self in 2017. He used to work at Taco Bell im assuming
Homie in the back looks like damn what happened that this my life now
Hey brah Iam the first person here. Yesss!!! But brah Iam from Australia.
7:50 I'm sure he made whole album of songs before making music vids.
I hope he doesn't think Call MeBYN was a mistake😞

his song sounds like Ariana grande - i know we be so complicated
I feel him 😭😭😭
The guy in the back seem like he got a lot to say. What's his channel too??
I dont think it's about his past vidoe because he did say he worked at taco bell and you can see him when he was in highschool and he's at prom and had a nicki fan page
Not to be rude to you guys but he's not being a gardian angle he's trying to say the even though this is happening his future is better
The last song he mad was crazy
