Good video, it helped a bunch. I watched several times before discovering there is a screw on the backside of the evap box duct mount under the expansion tubes, that has a guide tunnel.
That sensor, I believe, is the main cause of the Foresters having intermittent AC problems. Compressor cuts off after about 10 minutes cooling and only comes on after a long while. I've already adjusted the clutch air gap to .3mm, relay ok, refrigerant level ok and still the same on and off symptoms. I will just have to bypass that thermistor by jumping both wires and call it a day or get a new one and mount it behind the evap as opposed to the front to avoid having to disconnect the expansion valve tubes. Thank you, SubieTech!
on 2014 Forester with bad smell when you start vehicle coming from the a/c vents. Spray fixes have not fixed it. only work for about 2 days. Do you have to take apart dash to visualize what condition the parts are in or detect a foreign body in the vent system? Or can you utilize a camera system to inspect and find issue?
Absolutly. though it looks like a lot of it could be done from underneath. Bad smell is usually rodent crap or dead rodent. Or possibly something else getting in. if the smell comes from all outlet ducts you can narrow your search to the common ducts. Possibly around the cores or the filter and blower motor areas.
Is the SH Forester similar or do I have to take the entire dash off? Also, do you know a way to check if the temperature sensors for the dual zone climate control are reading correctly?
Good video, if I would have made it the Subaru would be brought to a scrap yard and replace with a Toyota or something...I like Subaru about as much as Mini-Coopers and Chryslers. Fun fact, did you know WRX/STI drivers get the most tickets in USA? 😁
Toyota owned part of Subaru untill recently so any old problems we can blam on Toyota. The only car brands i dont really care for is kia and Hyundai. Thanks for the input 👍👍
@@subietech1.6 The two brands with the best warranties? ... lol 😂. I don't have much experience with either..but sonata, Tuscon and santa Fe seem to be okay.
Thats because they are the funnest cars to drive. The glass cannons they use for engines are really light and dish out some horses. At least my XT does.
I have a problem with evaporator core in my car now. Need to replace it and found this helpful video! I'll probably do it pretty soon. Is it really hard to do it by myself btw? and when you replace the evaporator core, do you also have to refill the freon?
Yes you have to evacuate and refill the freon, it may be hard for you i don't think it's to hard but i work on cars every day. Thanks for leaving a comment
Thanks for your reply! I’m also trying to take the bolts out with extension, but the bolt you can see here (1:44), it’s really difficult to reach out there. It’s just impossible angle for me. Can you tell me how you did it? Also, if you don’t mind, can I get your email so I can show how it goes?
Hello sir, thanks for the video ! I need your help please, the dealership want to charge me $1,800 because my evaporator is leaking. because I'm a full time student I want to do it myself but I have heard that I need to take the all dashboard out (For Subaru crosstrek 2016) How hard its? thanks
I believe this was a crosstrek. I do know that newer model crosstrek the dash does need to be removed. If you want follow me on Instagram and I can answer some of your questions there.

Yeah it was hard to get that one on video
I am down to this bolt. I cannot see the bolt to access it or get the correct angle with a screw driver. Advice?

So is it a bad evaporator on these or just bad o-rings at the expansion valve?
Great video, i have a 2011 wrx sedan, need to change the evaporator, would the entire dash need to come out?
Glove box diving again!! 😂 yeah buddy!! Very cool video 👍 thank you for sharing 🤜🤛

May I ask you one question? How could you unscrew the bolt in top right corner? It’s really hard to reach there. 1:42 this one
@@Jasonseokr i use a very long extension and a wable socket, probably a 24 inch extension
