This is going to be a long week for you then! il be very surprised if you dont love it as much as i love mine! The carbon really does set it apart! Just dont damage the carbon, its expensive to replace...talking from experience lol.
As my XR neared 90000 kms (in 3 years) and i use my bike in commute Brussels-Antwerp area year round, I was thinking of replacing it after this winter, when it reached 100k. I started looking around. I didn't replace mine, I added a 2009 K1300gt with 23000 kms on the clock to the stable1/3 of the price of a new gs. This will be my winterbike, being one of the last 4cilinder shaft drive bikes, with full winter comforts and protection. I now have two bikes (redundancy) each with strong and stronger points. Sofar, no bike has matched the grin on my face after a XR ride.
Try the 1290 SDGT. I had an XR and went to the GT, it does everything a little better and with a little more character, without sacrificing much of the comfort.
Test rode a new 1300 GS last week and to be honest I thought it was great, have had a few GSAs in the past and loved them all, getting back on to my 22 XR though and my first thought was, No! Why would I change this!! just feels like a proper bike in comparison, need to sort that servo eliminator thing out though cos that's the only issue I have, sounds dull as fuck under 5000 revs
I did go and look at the new 1300 but for me the looks dont do it, they had it parked next to a triple black 1250 and i much prefer the looks of that, but as we both agree, the XR is just a better more exciting bike! The servo removal does make a difference, i hated the sound before I dont it and now think its spot on!
You could keep it above 5k, also. I always feel like my xr is talking to me, persuading me to keep him above 6k even. (Highway, standard 6k, 100mph on cruise control, if trafic alowes, with waze as copcontrol)
The looks of the XR keep bringing me back to the idea of picking one up for my next bike. I don’t go to the track so really I don’t need the power it has, the Tracer 9 GT is realistically something I should probably get instead, but when it comes to bikes, passion and desire definitely weigh in more than when shopping for a new car, and the XR is something I could see myself literally sitting in the garage every so often, just to look at her 😁 The new 2024s in the Gravity Blue looks stunning to me, though I haven’t seen it in the flesh yet, but maybe that model will finally get me to pull the trigger.
I just replaced my 2020 XR… for a 2023 XR. Nothing else quite does what I’m looking for and I’ve ridden most of its competitors. Seems like a recent software update has given it more smoothness and what feels like a bit more go in the low end as well.
Ive had a recall on mine for foot peg clips and it states a a software update… i wonder if that will change mine 🤔 if it does its just another reason not to sell it! 🤣
I traded in my 2020 XR back in June, for a 2023 triple black XR. For me, there's no other bike I would swap the XR for at the moment, maybe the new GS in a couple of years.
if it isn't broke don't fix it :) for me personally the XR is the best bike out there, I absolutely hate un-faired bikes really do not see the point of being blasted in the face at 70+ mph. The XR has the power, style and the looks IMPO as well as the gadgets for those of who are gadget freaks lol :)
I can’t think of anything that would be a better bike, I only have 6k miles but I find that every mile I put on this XR is more enjoyable especially the Brentuning!
Mines getting delivered on Saturday. Same as yours with the carbon pack ect. Looking forward to it!
Great choice of bike. Have fun and stay safe

Once you have ridden an XR its difficult to replace it with anything other than another XR
Yep, ive found that out! not that its an issue 😉
Brought a tear to my eye... I am so proud of you Son! :D

Good choice of the second bike!
Yep found the same issues, nothing gave me that "fizz" like the XR does so shes staying for a while!

❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Lol I was worried for a moment. 😂 I love my 2020 xr now I think I'm going to change it for a 2022
I was considering the 24 model thats just be released but no red colour scheme so il stick with mine for abit longer

Enjoy the bike mate, i considered getting rid of mine at the end of the summer, but came to much the same conclusion as you.
The 24 model thats coming was temping but no red colour scheme which is a shame.

I often go into my garage and just admire the XR, its a thing of beauty...but SOOO much fun to ride! GO FOR IT 😈
Have you had any issues with the XR since owning it?
Honestly, no. Not had any issues at all. Its does currently have a recall for footpeg pins but other than that not had any issue with it! 👍

Similar to me, I've had the XR for a few years, commuting, touring, trackdays can't work out if there is anything else better.
Aaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!🤪

Exactly why I struggled bud! 👍🏻

Id say uve hit the nail on the head there bud! Its defiantly the best bike ive ever owned! 👍🏻
Had the same issue in my own mind! I’m sticking with the XR as well! 👍
good choice! 😉 i did see you was looking at a multistrada at one point

Great decision m8. Been through the same thought process myself and came to the same conclusion 👍
Just dont put diesel in it you ll be fine haha😂
Il try not to! Lol
