    Thanks for creating this video, I have watched many videos on how to do the forehand loop, but this one gave me great tips that I never saw before, that really help my technique.

      Well thank you! I’m just starting out but hope to get better with every video 👍 I have a full time job and 3 kids under 5 years old to keep up with, but I’m shooting for at least one video a week 😅

    Great video. forehand loop is the shot I miss the most while playing. Most of the time ball goes into net rather than going to other side of the table

      Thanks for watching 👍 And yes, it’s a tough shot. I struggle with the initial plant of my foot during a match, so I’m incorporating “Ladder Drills” into my daily workouts to get my footwork moving quicker. I’ll talk about it in a video sometime as well.

    It would be helpful to use a ball color that contrasts with the white background.

      Yeah, for sure! This video was my first attempt at slow mo. In my latest video I am using real 240fps slow mo and it is much easier to see the ball so hopefully things are looking better going forward 👍

    w/ the FH loop...what changes if the incoming backspin is different (e.g., heavy, or medium, or light or nospin). is that you're reading this before your stroke and setting the blade angle different depending on the spin (e.g., more open for heavier backspin), OR is it that you generally want the same blade angle on all these but vary the starting position (eg., lower for heavier backspin), OR is it keeping blade angle and starting position pretty equal across all these different degrees of backspin but just changing your rate of acceleration? (e.g, big time acceleration for heavy backspin, or steady lighter acceleration for light backspin/nospin?)? thanks!

    • @PingPongPowerhouse
      @PingPongPowerhouse  9 місяців тому

      So...this is how I would think about it. I would first: be trying to accelerate my Wrist and Forearm as fast as I can for EVERY forehand loop (regardless of the spin on the incoming ball). Then secondly: I would adjust the Racket Angle depending on the incoming ball (favoring a more closed angle for an incoming Topspin ball, and then favoring a more open angle for a backspin ball).
      If you have a slower racket and can't get enough "lift" against an incoming backspin ball...then you'll want to try and generate more power by pushing more off of your bent knee and/or "twisting from your hips".
      Hope that helps you a bit! Thanks for watching.

    Where on the ball, as in a clock do you try and hit the ball for a) a topspin loop aganst topspin and b) a topspin loop against backspin and C) against sidepin. I always try and hit the back of the ball. My results are low percentage at the best of times. Thanks.

    • @PingPongPowerhouse
      @PingPongPowerhouse  7 місяців тому

      I going to assume you’re looking at the ball like you had a camera sitting to the side of the table watching you playing. And then imagine it’s a clock face. Also, 9’oclock is the front of the ball, and 3’oclock the back of the ball.
      Hitting by against incoming Topspin: I would aim for around 2 or 3.
      Hitting against incoming Sidespin: Try to ignore the Sidespin and hit it like it is incoming Topspin. Just angle your racket left or right to account for the ball going one of those directions.
      Hitting against incoming Backspin: I think hitting 3’oclock (back of ball) is fine here. I would play with REALLY trying to brush the ball and see what happens. Then you can adjust to get more forward motion. ALSO, I highly recommend you try a Faster Rubber/Blade combination (and probably look for a higher Throw Angle on the Rubber). You will notice a huge difference in Looping a Backspin Ball. The faster racket might mess you up for other parts of your game, though. Even so, it’s a great learning experience to feel what it’s like, and then go back to your previous/slower racket and better understand why it might be hard for you to Loop an incoming backspin ball.
      Good luck experimenting!

      Thanks for that! I have started to come around the ball more for topspin as you suggested and my results are much better. Just need to get the backspin one down. I usually come straight up with these and land them ocassionally. Lots of spin and no power. I need to get into the ball more and get more speed and power.

    Awsome video again. This is the one shot i really struggle with.
    I often find either:
    A - hit it into the net with a ton of top spin
    B - i open the bat a bit more and it flies into the ceiling.
    Any tips?
    Also yay for slow motion clips!

    • @PingPongPowerhouse
      @PingPongPowerhouse  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! Haha, yeah it’s definitely a touchy shot. For me, I know I struggle when I’ve reacted slowly, or anticipated incorrectly, to the ball my opponent has sent my way. Then I’m just poorly executing the rest of the shot.
      I will talk about more details in a video…but having a robot (even cheap ones) helps me. Mainly because I can remove all the factors of reading the ball…and focus on MY form and execution. And it helps me get a better “feel” for different spins when they contact my racket. And then do that thousands of times to make it second nature.
      Not sure if that’s helpful, haha.

      6 years ago I bit the bullet and got an “Amicus Advanced Butterfly Robot” (name has changed to “Expert” or “Start”, since then). I love the thing, and have got great use out of it. Only had to repair it one time, so far.

    There are two balls directly behind your right shoulder on the floor. They are probably still there.

    this is good guide for starters but theres so much more to the forehand topspin than its shown here and some things are little bit wrong

      That’s fair 👍 I was hoping it would be a good “beginner” video. Care to share what you saw was wrong? I wanna cover this topic more in the future and maybe could avoid saying/showing the same thing again 🤔 And thanks for watching!

      Great video. I think that in this video, your knee and waist stop moving too early compared to your forearm, which makes the follow-through of your arm look less perfect than you intended

      @PingPongPowerhouse  10 місяців тому

      You’re so right…haha. I’ll try to figure something out in the future 😅 Also, I’ll be using higher FPS Slow Mo going forward, so it should be much easier to see the ball, too.

  • @Stefkicksass
    @Stefkicksass 10 місяців тому +1

    I don't know what camera you are using, but you need to increase the frames per second when you're recording slowmotion shots. Now it's just a big woosh. Table tennis is fast and we need good slowmo to really see how to make the shots! Give it a try and good luck with your channel

    • @PingPongPowerhouse
      @PingPongPowerhouse  10 місяців тому

      Absolutely. Was my first video with Slow Mo and I thought I could make it work using some “post processing” settings in my video editor.
      Obviously, it didn’t work out well. I’m using High FPS Slow Mo going forward and will look much better. Thanks!

    Good advice however you r still coming across to much.. to much elbow to soon.. imagine holding a water bottle and letting it go at end of stroke.. it should go directly forward..
