My man! Knew what this was about as soon as I saw it in my sub-feed 😅 Very good message here and in general I can relate to this a lot. I've had the same few experiences where I've not said anything when I definitely should have. Whether it's business, dating, or just making a new friend, taking the first step is often all it takes. Got back to you on IG with more details.
I'm glad you reintroduced yourself and took that risk! I can tell you from experience you'll never regret saying hello and introducing yourself if you run into online friends in the wild. Once I was in San Francisco, I was heading into a tea lounge with a friend. I had heard about this particular tea lounge from Kevin Rose on his podcast Diggnation. The lounge was nearly empty, but i kid you not, Kevin Rose himself was sitting right there. I froze. I was going to turn right around and leave. My friend saw what was going on and said "nope, we are going to go sit at that table right next to him, and you're going to introduce yourself. " I did, i was terrified, and it was easily one of the top 5 moments of my entire life. We had a great conversation and I'm so grateful my friend made me go in and step out and risk being awkward.
When those situations arise again....think Eminem. You have this moment..grab it or let it pass??? The worst thing is they miss out on meeting YOU! Football analogy was great...if yourbthe running back...at least you were in the game!
"The worst thing is they miss out on meeting YOU!" Wow --- I never thought about it like that. Thank you for sharing that. We are our own worst critiques and reframing the narrative to "I am a blessing to others" is very powerful.
Hey man, I've been watching your videos for a few weeks now since I am moving to KL next week for a few months. I think we have the same personality, I am pretty shy and introvert and I am afraid not to meet people and socialize during my trip. If you are still there next week I would love to hangout :)
I appreciate that brother! Have you tried staying in hostels? Man I won't be in KL at that time but let's definitely stay connected. Wishing you the best in Malaysia.
Thank you for this video. Wonderful. You should take advantage of the spontaneous moments, those were your opportunities. It takes courage and self awareness to admit that you could have done better and you did.
100% -- The whole point of me even traveling is to be present. I'm constantly being challenge to step out of my shell so this is good practice for me. When I have embraced these spontaneous moments they have brought so much joy to my life. I need to keep facing my fear because on the other side of it is a beautiful life.
@@TedPatrickBaird Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience. In real life, it's more than just two sides of a coin. The more chances you take, the more you'll learn, you win some, and you'll lose some, eventually, you'll be able to build your higher sense of freedom and self awareness of the risks involved. In a split moment of time given the opportunities, you'll grab it without hesitation, knowing that no matter what, it's part and journey of real life. I was once a very timid introvert person, but my job requires my presence as an extrovert person, so over the time I've developed suitable characters that suit my personality. I hope for all the best to you, here in Malaysia. 😄
Peace bro! I definitely can relate as well. I recently got to KL myself, and I love it so far, Im concerned about creating that potential trend as well. Hopefully you can throw me a pointer or two about what you have learned so far about the area?? (Good eats & places to stay or NOT to.)
My biggest advice would be to "Go First." Meaning if you see someone who you want to talk to, introduce yourself and break the ice. Don't wait for people to come up to you. Malaysians are generally shy but very sweet and love telling you about their culture. I didn't hangout in KLCC to much. That's where all the tourists are. My favorite locations to stay in are Chow Kit and Bukit Bintang (nightlife area of KL). The best Nasi Lemak is at Village Park Restaurant in Petaling Jaya. North Village Malaysia is a rooftop shisha spot just outside of the city with an INCREDIBLE view of KLCC. Do your best to remain present and you'll have the best time brother. Thanks for your comment.
@@TedPatrickBaird I appreciate you so much for what you are doing and more so for you taking the time to offer a valuable response! Stay blessed bro! Hope to see you while I'm here! 🙏🏾😇
Hey Raja, I'm hoping to get it out by the end of October/early November. It'll be worth the wait! That's so cool that your brother is back in Japan. Wishing him the most success.
