@@BroccoliBeefed We this week just replaced our 1972 kitchenaid dishwasher made by Hobart in Troy OH. It ran like a champ up to the day the pump just died. No way to get replacement parts anymore for a nearly 50 year old machine. We replaced it with a Whirlpool dishwasher that does clean well but goodness its' all plastic inside.
1. I'd've never expected that there are dishwashers releasing the detergent at the 22nd minute but on the other hand it is now clear to me that that most of the job, in any dishwasher, is done by the mechanical action of water 2. Who would have ever thought that the detergent dispender popping up would attract so many viewers? 3. A big thank you to Josephine Cochrane for her invention . Madam you've spared us all such a painful chore!
Wow my whole life has been a lie...this whole time I thought the dishwasher filled up like halfway with water and those turbines spun around creating a vortex of soapy mess for the evil scum left on the dishes...where am I going with this
This is why its so o\important to not put any solid food in there. It can clog the water from circulating around and will cause your dishes not come as clean.
Finished watching at the last lil black bit on that plate in the back. This takes alot of water considering what it does. I thought there would be more pressure.
I'd like to see the water jetison upward between the bowls, and into the top rack glasses. Reckon it ever does? I've been serving drinks in dirty glasses all these years.
I just recently bought this same unit. Love it, cleans everything perfectly and I don't pre rinse at all. Not a spec of food left behind so far! Just wondered how often you run yours and how often you clean the filter...
That's great to hear!! I still absolutely love this machine. I've even gone so far as to deliberately baking sauce and cheese residues into baking dishes just to put them in this dishwasher, and even I'm surprised when they come out spotless. I never pre-rinse, only scrape food bits off, and typically I run a full load every 2-3 days and have yet to find anything more than a stray bit of spinach or something that gets wedged in a spot where it can't escape, which is rare, and also has happened to every dishwasher I've owned, even the PowerClean or old school KitchenAids. I haven't really had a need to clean the filter, but I check it every few months and sometimes just wash them just to give the machine an all over "clean slate", but the only thing that is ever in the filter is a speck or two that get wedged in the mesh. I've not yet had an actual "need" to clean the filter though.
I'm glad I could give a good impression of the machine!! I think you'll absolutely love it. Even I was skeptical because of all the negativity people have about anything that uses less water than something old, but I've been pleasantly amazed at what a fantastic job this thing does and how quietly it does it.
This is hilarious I kept hearing this going on in the background as I am cleaning my dishwasher filters! I was like what is that sound lol ! 42 minutes! And then the comments are so funny
That's true but dishwashers replace manual strength with time. A continuous soft spray of hot water instead of a fast rubbing hand. Moreover the water can reach 90°C temperature, which will kill bacteria, a temperature that your hands wouldn't stand. Then there's the added bonus I can load the dishwasher and go to bed, forgetting about all that mess.
Jhayology true, if you do it by hands. Then yeah, besides is lot better to do by hand then a dishwasher. Since there’s a chance it could miss some spot that couldn’t reached.
Thanks! And usually because of the way the tines hold them upright, the undersides are open enough for water to get up and through them. Even if they lean against each other slightly, the jets are powerful enough to reach the entire surface. :)
I've had it since around mid-December 2015, and have yet to find anything disappointing about its performance. The one weakness I've noted so far is the same as just about every dishwasher I've used; if silverware gets bunched tightly together, there can be an occasional piece of food or grime that will be lodged between, but I've only run into that a few times when I didn't use the separators in the basket. I think the dedicated Silverware Basket spray bar helps with that a lot. As far as noise, it's honestly the quietest dishwasher I've ever been around. Unless you're sitting right in front of it, you can't tell its on. The only time I ever hear it operating is when it drains and you can hear the water gurgling down the sink drain, but otherwise, unless your house is dead quiet you won't even know it's running, and even then there's nothing but a near silent hum.
+kingofspades531 I've been watching a lot of 'inside the dishwasher' videos and this one has some of the best wash action I've seen on new machines. Strong spray, good coverage! I also meant to ask about the racks. Do they feel sturdy and glide smoothly? Thanks for the info, it's helping me in my decision on what to buy.
+phunky x I like the racks, the lower is basically the same design Whirlpool has had for years, but the last row of tines will fold back or down, and the front two will widen for larger bowls and such. The top rack has a much more sturdy glide rail so it's quite stable even when full. My only minor complaint would be that the rack lifting system is self locking, so you only have to lift up on the rack to raise or lower it, and it locks to position. As convenient as that is, I'd rather have the levers to push, but regardless, I've not had any issue with it. I always keep it in the upper position and it is still stable and hasn't given any issue. And I'm glad I could help!!!
Is it bothering anyone else how long it's taking for the cleaner to dissolve into the water? I don't like that system, I think it should fall right into the water so it can dissolve immediately for the entire cycle
Lennox1492 It does bother me.But with Whirlpoop you get what you pay for 😬This is a strange model. Our Whirlpool dishwasher didn't alternate washing the top and bottom like that. Don't know whether this is an American or European model but I've heard the Euro models are very different. These machines now take forever to wash a load of dishes (1 hour 40 minutes or more) So yeah the detergent does get dissolved
I'm pretty sure dishwashers drain and fill with water a couple of times during their cycle. I believe the reason it doesn't dispense right away is because first it rinses the dishes to get rid of any big or loose food particles. Then it drains that water (and particles) out and fills up with fresh water and then dispenses the soap.
BroccoliQueefed European machines tend to run longer because they use technologies such as heat exchangers and low water wash systems which means only one spray arm runs at a time. This halves the amount of water and saves on the electricity used to heat the water.
When the upper arm (the one in the main view) isn't running, the lower arm under the dishes on the bottom engages, and is spraying directly under and into any of the dishes on that rack. The water jets force up between bowls and plates and can be seen if you look down between the dishes and see the arm rotating beneath it all. It's just hard to get the camera at that angle to see it better.
CHRIS WILLIAMS they are filter purges. It fills with a small amount of water and then pulses the main pump a few times to help stir water around inside the filter to help break loose any particles that didn't get pulled out during the drain beforehand. It typically does these if it senses heavy soil levels.
All those dishes and the washer looks exactly like mine.. Did you sneak into my house and do my dishes or some shit? cause if so feel free to do that anytime lol
Eccezionale!!
One question...would you know why when you pull the upper rack out of the Whirlpool machine you used it offers a resistance and the flat water tube snaps against the back wall..is this normal?
I've noticed that a few times, particularly if the top rack is pretty heavily loaded. If you look at the manifold at the back of the actual rack, it has these cone shaped guides, and the supply tube against the wall has notches that fit and help align the manifold to the supply. When there is more weight towards the front or back of the basket, it pushes up or down at that connection point, and can cause it to "stick". I've learned to just be gentle when pulling or pushing the rack in so it has time to line up, and I haven't had it snap at all since.
Thank you. I had a repairman come in and fix it. For some reason that spring does not hold the supply line and it snaps against the wall when you pull the drawer outward.
The most fascinating video wich I've ever seen. It's higly twisted and so dinamic, action fullfiled story didn't let me break awey. I've watceed it in one shot. Five times. Now I watch it almost each day. There is only one little disadvantage. This video is too short.

They're identical mechanically, but just offer slightly different features and cosmetic styling.
Bill Slater . Sadly enough Hobart decided to sell out their home dishwasher division to Whirlpool over a decade ago and KitchenAids are no longer hurricanes in a box anymore. Kitchen Aid dishwashers are nowadays in effect Whirlpools😢, with their weak motors, pumps and transmissions
Your not kidding, I still have a vintage Kitchenaid down my basement apartment. It would push the spray up to the ceiling if you held down safety switch in door. These dishwashers are sad compared to older machines. The pumps and motors are so weak that they have to either wash top or bottom spray arms but not both together. This Whirlpool states that it has a 1/8 horsepower motor, the Kitchenaid has a 1/2 horsepower motor.
It just depends on the machine and the cycle. Typically with moderate soil, this particular machine will do one or two prewashes and then release the detergent. Sometimes when the load is dirty enough it will do three prewashes. Occasionally it will decide to dispense the detergent within the first five minutes. The Whirlpool PowerClean design would usually drop the detergent at the start of the Normal cycle because it didn't use a prewash, where the GE Nautilus my parents had runs three prewashes no matter what and doesn't dispense until 30 minutes in. In my opinion it seems more sensible to dispense at the beginning and let the detergent enzymes activate with the food soils, but some manufacturers have the machine all but clean the dishes entirely before using it.
+kingofspades531 thanks for your answer! Indeed, the earlier the better. But with this machine, everything comes ALWAYS out clean and with no strange aroma with the longest program?
@@Richh08 So far, yes. I have rarely had anything come out of this machine that was less than spotless, and even when it has happened, it's nothing more than a speck that was usually from an item touching another or a spoon that accidentally rested in another spoon.
