@@BOOSTEDLASERawesome! We have 2 100 hour lithium batteries with 2 190w panels on the roof. Will last us about 2-3 days off grid depending on sun. It is a massive investment at $6000 so unless you are living in it or have the money better to get a good generator and lithium batteries.
I have the ATK and I am very pleased with it. Love the color, style, blade shape, etc. For the price it is outstanding. I have xl-xxl size hands and prefer larger folders. Sometimes, however, you need a smaller knife for the EDC situation and this one works great for me. The thickness of this model suits me and feels comfortable in my hand. I prefer assisted/autos and the action on this is great. The pocket clip location doesn't bother me at all, that said I only use it for short tasks. Appreciate what you do, May the good Lord continue to bless you and your family.
One other option that punches far above its weight class in the outdoors is the Victorinox Farmer. The saw combined with the blade on that particular model puts it on a whole different level.
Hey Aaron, another great breakdown. Interesting enough, I just moved to northern NH and pulled out my KIkU XR…the 4th one replaced by “GSM”. And the omega spring is broken. Sometime down the line, maybe there’s a discussion to be had on any and all CS experiences. All the best man. Thanks for what you do.
I'm glad about the clarification regarding the Cryo 440 confusion. Thank you! I'm not sure what knives with ball bearings and blade play you are talking about. I have maybe one in twenty that has some play. Properly adjusted, a good knife on ball bearings still has no blade play. Btw: Grind, ground, grounded?🤔 ...nope!
I have had the smaller version for about six months. Your review is spot on. Cool looking and decent steel, but the worst pocket clip on any of my knives. For comparison, the best clip that I have is on the Buck Vantage; it is what I judge most others by.
Just picked up the FLK from Midway for $18.43. Yep, no typo. Agree about the pocket clip - worst I've encountered on a folder. The FLK is essentially a folding hunting knife, so the clip's coming off and it's going in a belt pouch.
The fixed blade reminds me of how the old 80s barlow pocket knives had those clip on scales much like that. The pocket knives tho not sure bout. Might make a good car knife
SOG has forgotten who they are. They were one of the few tactical knife makers left. All they needed to do was update materials. The Pilar was a start the the 7 inch version never came as promised.
I bought my first one 3 years ago. I got the all black flashpoint II. I just lost it last week (may still find it) but i wanted the same one and couldnt find it. I had it for 3 years. For the price it was the best bang for the buck for a knife. So i ordered a different model that is normally 80$ with a sale for 62$. I couldnt find anything that good in range. It was the perfect knife for me. So i am sad its gone.
SOG has some compelling options under $100 at the moment. I’m thinking of grabbing another QSP next cause for my style, they seem to be the best bang for buck on a ~$60 budget.
G'day Aaron, I'm seriously think'n about one of these for my car kit. Dont think I've never said this before, but I reckon the smaller job would be a better option for me, ...... simply because I'm using more 4 inch.- ish fixies these days. I do appreciate a high ride clip on more robust, "working" folders, ... though if it trashes the ergos, ..... well that can go, never to be seen again, lol. I dont mind cheap and cheerful handle materials, as long as they do their job well. Mind you, it's gonna be mighty difficult to beat the ergos on a Gator IMO. In any event, I do think SOG is on a winner with this range; fair to say, for those that dont mind them being manufactured in a country named after crockery, I expect the capability to price point will be very compelling. Cheers Duke.
Waitaminnit! Do you have a review of that Joker, Aaron? Thanks for the Tellus reviews, though. There isn't much out there about them. I think the big one is worth buying; I'll remove the pocket clip though. It's in the same range as my Gerber Gator in 154 CM or my Victorinox Swiss Army Hunter Pro - big, comfy, folding hunter.
@@gideonstactical I should bloody well hope so Aaron, ....... you cant just show something like that ... and then leave it go ...... LMAO !!! I'm not even gonna look it up, ... I'll hang out for your review. Cheers Duke.
Was getting excited there. Inexpensive, rugged folder knife with a decent blade steel and then saw the pocket clip. Nope. Really poor design. If that pocket clip was relocated to allow a deeper pocket carry I would be adding to the collection.
No disrespect intended but you complain about the pocket clip on the SOG and then proceed to compare it to the Gerber and Joker which both have NO pocket clip. You also give the SOG Tellus folder high marks for food prep and camp/utility cutting...which is what a folder should do. HOWEVER you ding it on the hard use or prolonged cutting tasks like making feather sticks...which I would normally leave to a fixed blade/hatchet. You may be asking a lot for a $50 folder.
If you decide to make a knife to compete for the budget outdoor crown, buy everyone on your team a RAT. Beating that is now your job, whether you like it or not. And you need a convincing win on at least one part of your knife. The steel, the ergonomics, a clever feature in the design, something. Otherwise, you're barely going to be noticed. This SOG is an also ran. I wish it was top tier, a new king, but it just isn't. It's ... competent. Nothing wrong. 440C is .. fine? Yeah, that's fine. There's just no reason to put down a working RAT to pick this up.
The Ontario Rat is perhaps the definition of a budget friendly outdoor knife.
Totally 👍
It's definitely the standard.
@@gideonstactical GOT A RV THANKS TO YOU ! LOVING IT ! HOW MUCH SOLAR DO YOU HAVE AND BATTERY CAPACITY?
Rat one or recon one pretty much covers it. IMHO

You can pick up a cs voyager large for under $50 when they're on sale... usually midwayusa or amazon puts them at a discount from time to time

As a competitor, look at the BK41 and BK42. Also, the CJRB Chord is an excellent option, though it also runs on bearings....

Can get the ATK on Midway USA right now for $16 after the 25% sog/cs coupon they are running. Ends in two days
Just a note after purchasing a FLX today. The blade is marked cryo 440c and the thumb studs are now metal, not the colored plastic.
Good update!!!
Same here

While I have carried a Buck 100 for nearly 50 years they are now a little north of $50 but the 110 Slim series can be had for $27-32.
Buck 110 not 100 lol

Ya, sand that it doesn’t have a better clip. Good deal though!!
lol i also ordered one for $18 😂
Loved to have seen the Magnadot in AUS10a or 9cr18mov, it was a really tough cookie

SR1 Lite is $40 everywhere right now! Going to buy a couple more at that price, doesn’t get more bomb -proof than that.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
what's that wood knife on the bottom left?
Joker Crocker

Doing some different filming styles.

Cool lock
"cheap"...But good!
Don't be so quick to 'trash' the excellent scales

Ball bearings? For outdoor use seems like washers would be the way to go.
Bearings shouldn't have play. That's not normal. They need adjusting, bruh.
Of the dozens of ball bearing based knives I have from $300-$30 90% have some side to side play.
@@gideonstactical adjust the play out. I have dozens also. No play and drop shutty actions.
