    It's hard to wrap your mind around how good he actually is. For every athlete, the 6 m barrier is something like the ultimate goal. Only Bubka and Lavillenie have crossed 6,10 - and Lavillenie only did it once. Yet here we are, witnessing someone cross the bar at 6,21 with quite some margin. What an athlete.

    • @alfaogat

      The margin was 8 cm. So in reality he jumped 6.29. Unbilivible.

    With his amazing body control as key he combines his elasticity and explosiveness in the most effective way while executing all other technical components with such precision and timing. The jumps he makes are pure art, even to the untrained eye.
    Not just his technique, his mentality is beyond everyone else’s. He is so mature, yet fearless.
    In situations when condition changes, the wind for example, his co-athletes often become shaky and begins to hesitate, while he remains confident and calm. With help from his father/coach he knows exactly what needs to be adjusted, both in material and in his performance. Their work together, and with mother as physical coach, is so beautiful. I love sports.
    I just pray that he won’t get injured, because that’s the only thing that can stop this man from pushing the heights further.

    What he does differently: : 1) lowers the pole as he runs, which allows him to run faster, 2) keeps his arms straight as he launches. 3) does not plant the pole at the end of the pit, but a half-way in so it slides to a bit before stopping, 4) he crouches tightly. his hands nearly touching his head....

    It's obvious he can easily clear 2.30 or more but takes his time since for every added centimeter of a world record he gets big bonuses. Good for him!

      Haha, indeed he looked not impressed at all with the timing before this first try! That said, the fact he can play with he WR with such ease and do it on demand, but only by 1cm when he could've almost certainly passed 6.25 with 3 serious efforts, is a little upsetting. I know about the bonuses and all, but still it feels like we are being cheated out of watching something incredible that we would never forget, in the name of money...

      Can someone explain what's the process for him for being trying a 6m20 jump when just before they were jumping much lower heights ? How does it work if they are 2 jumper left and 1 fails let's Say at 5.50p. The winner Can try a WR jump ?

    • @larstenfaelt1859
      @larstenfaelt1859 2 роки тому

      @@sauce1232 the competition has a schema for th heights until the winner is found. Then he can ask for the heights. He first asked for 6.06 m to break the record for world championship record and after getting that he asked for 6.21m as that was breaking his personal best and world record. Another jumper in another competition would ask for heights relevant for him that could mean a national record...as Armand is outstanding and has had the last world record he compete on this level by himself.

    Duplantis and Sydney is in a league of their own at their respective events - since they completely dominate their event with no one close beating them and they are both 22!
    But Karsten is in their class in all of the other regards.

    • @barath4545
      @barath4545 2 роки тому

      Karsten is excused this WC - He was way out of shape (hamstring injury in Morocco DL) and ran into heavy lactic acid (admitted himself in an interview)
      But he did that while leading a race over Dos Santos, who eventually won it, in 46.29, which meant that Karsten was trying to run a 45.9 - 46.1 which was SUPER optimistic for being out of competition shape.
      But he came, showed up, qualified for the final and took the chance - I respect that!

Looks like a snub from USA media probably for vaulting for Sweden. My two cents.
