Hey sittingduck! you probably won't read this comment but I just wanted to let you know that I'm really glad that I recently RE-discovered your channel. A little story: when I was about 8 or 9 I got into fingerboarding via my friends playing with tech decks. My friends saw them as just toys but it became an obsession for me. I soon had a stock pile of tech decks. I went to UA-cam to learn the basic tricks: ollie, kickflip, grind, etc. Through this I discovered you, Mike Schneider and a couple of other guys whose names elude me right now. I eventually came across your old video on making DIY fingerboards with paper index cards as well as the updated version you did with printer paper. My first few decks were garbage but eventually I made some nice examples. This was a good alternative as my family couldn't afford the nice, wooden decks or at least not yet. By extension we couldn't afford the mini parks and the cheap tech decks ramps I had, while adequate, were utter crap. So, just like the paper decks, I resorted to DIY alternatives; cereal boxes and shoe boxes. I remember making an almost complete park with a poster board serving as the base. I also remember driving my mom and my grandma insane with the mess I made. My dad eventually did get me a wooden deck. I forgot what brand it was. To the best of my knowledge it was 'Diablo' something. I then bought some maple wood sheets from Michael's and made my first wooden decks with it.
Around age 12, my interest in fingerboarding just... vanished. All of a sudden my desire to board was just gone. I grew to have other interests: video games, metal music, sci-fi books, comics, computers/coding, working out, and, the most important of all, cars. As the years went on, I would have brief moments of nostalgia. Around age 16, I bought two tech decks out of nostalgia. In high school, I met some skaters guys who were also into fingerboarding. But those moments weren't enough to bring me back to fingerboarding. That all changed a few weeks ago. I (now aged 21) was at work when a lady came in with her son who was about 8 or 9. The boy was playing with a fingerboard and, at that moment, a huge surge of emotional nostalgia hit me. I started thinking about fingerboarding more and more as the days went on. Just two days ago, I went to see if your old tutorial and, by extension, your channel were still up. To my surprise, both the video and your channel were still up. And of course I was surprised to see you were still active. But I was confused when I saw your newer videos. I thought myself: "Wait a minute! Wasn't this channel run by a guy? Who is this girl? Did original guy leave or, goodness forbid, die and this girl took his place? Is this his friend, girlfriend, or sister?" I then saw your "I'm back" video and I was quite surprised to find out that you had come out as trans in the years I had last saw your videos. But I was also relieved because while I'm a cis, heterosexual male I'm glad that the fingerboarding community had grown in diversity in my absence.
I just bought two molds on ebay and I still need to gather the rest of the materials to start making boards again. As for tricks, I'll probably be a little rusty but with practice I should get hang of it again. I'll make sure to buy your own boards as way of showing my support. Maybe with this rejuvenation of my old hobby I can get into the community again. I also hope that maybe one day I can meet you in person and thank you for my initial introduction into DIY fingerboarding. Good luck!
P.S. Was your channel called sittingduck422 when you made that video?

Looked like a good event, I love the chill sofas in the middle and finally I see someone skating the blue curve ramp, that’s a hidden Jem that would be fun to mess around on!
