Yeah, same. Especially the one at the top, with the Philips head. If I noticed it was different, I doubt my first thought would be "let's connect this random screw to that other one with a metal wire". I would've unscrewed it and probably consequently broken the whole thing.
I like how its called the X box, so naturally one thinks of Xbox game system, but then its all X-men characters so you think "oh not xbox game system the X is for X-men" but then the answer at the end is referring to the Xbox game system with "the red ring of death" lol
We know there are electronics inside... the point of a traditional puzzle box was that uh... there was something in there as a reward for solving the puzzle.
That's an incredibly clever and well designed puzzle. Knowledge of comics would help, but nothing a quick google search can't find. Ending was a bit of a letdown though. All around great video, thanks.
Telekinesis=turn the box upside down? This reminds me of the old adventure games in the 80s where you'd have to know to do things like "To unlock the door you have to put the pink rock in your pocket while standing in front of the window" Huh?
The idea of adding different kinds of modalities to a puzzle is fascinating to me. I think a lot of the times, we are used to solving puzzles with clearly defined boundaries and scripts for behavior. Sudoku, crosswords, twisty puzzles, and logic grids all have rules for completion which can lead to deep and beautiful logic, but there is something kind of magical with a puzzle that asks you to do something different. Where the solution is not found within a bounded space. Great puzzle.
I hope this channel becomes a larger level channel at some point subscriber wise. You deserve it. You are my new favorite channel. And don't forget that this is for everyone's enjoyment yours included.
the red ring of death was something that occured to your xbox 360 when it got short circuted or overpowered this is actually a nice ee and made me happy to remember the good ol days thank you so much fleb and thank you to the creators of this puzzle
And as always, a fantastic upload by a fantastic man. I love how well you make your videos, and how easy it is for a guy, like myself, to follow your every step in these solving videos. I really hope that you feel good about what you are doing here, and just by looking in your comments, i am not the only one appreciating your work, you deserve all the best!
Thanks! I saw this comment before the person on Reddit posted the video, and I really appreciated your comment at the time. It took a while, but I found it! Happy puzzling!
This was extremely interesting with the comic book and console references especially. I enjoy the references to comics and mythology in some of the puzzles.
You can get pretty far using guesswork, trial-and-error, and patterns. The first things I would've done are probably look for 1-3 letter words (a, of, the, and so on), and also try to figure out which letter corresponds to E. It's possible that the key could just be a rot cipher (every letter gets moved forward/backward a certain amount of "spaces"), which would make it easier, but otherwise you just have to grind away.
I was hoping there was some kind of marking on the box to kind of help (outside of the letters themselves) I see what you're getting at though and deductive reasoning is likely what most people would use to establish it....just hoped for a short cut or explanation :)
Check out cryptograms. They're a word puzzle that you commonly see in newspapers next to crosswords (I assume anyway. I haven't used a newspaper in a while). Basically, as long as the sentences is long enough, you can figure out most cryptograms. You start with the small words, like the other guy said, and then you can usually work out the rest from there. They're pretty fun if you like puzzles and such.
you can figure out how frequently certain letters appear and then pair those letters with the letters in the English language that occur the same number of times. for example, e is the most common letter in the English language. if you figure out which letter occurs most often in the cipher text it is probably the letter that corresponds to e.
The puzzle is truly amazing and must have taken so much time to develop. I really appreciate you showing us this intricate puzzle. Great job keep the awesome work!
Matthew McCloskey Looks to be a fairly easy letter swap. Just write down A to Z and take note of letters which appear most often, these are your vowels. WZ and FX are both shown, there aren't many two letter words W appears quite a bit as does X, W equals I and X equals O. From there it's just a matter of subsituting the letters you do know into the puzzle and forming words as you go to reveal more letters, which in turn reveal more letters etc.
People here have gotten somewhat of the right approach. First, remember that this was a puzzle event with multiple people teams, so we were all trying to solve it. A lot of techniques are shown here: www.cryptograms.org/tutorial.php A combination of one letter words, two letter words, and three letter words got us a lot of the letters, and then we were able to guess some of the bigger words. Eventually we started trying to translate the names, got that they were xmen, and got a lot more of the key.
This is so amazing. I have all the technical ability to build something like this but I could never come up with the actual puzzle logic and encryption concept on my own.
I'd just like to say that I watched all of your videos and found them all extremely interesting and subscribed instantly. I don't know if you are aware but someone posted a link to this video on a site called Reddit which is where all of this traffic is coming from. Currently the top comment chain I see now is pretty negative and I really hope this doesn't discourage you. In no time at all these children and their negativity will be gone.
...Your reward for the XBox puzzle is the RED RING OF DEATH XD And you have to be a Marvel fan to understand how to do it in the first place oh my gosh this is the most nerd-reference-heavy puzzle I've ever seen in my life.
I did in the original event with my puzzle team. This is from a puzzle event back in 2013 where you had to try out to be allowed to play and they only took 24 teams. For filming this video, I remembered a lot of the solve path from that original event.
I don't know how I came across your channel today but I'm really glad I did. I watched a few of your videos and enjoyed each one. I wish I can be as smart as you. I really do. That would be cool - solving puzzles and whatnot. Kudos!
FLEB Judging by your answer, i kinda doubt that you solved that puzzle yourself... Do you really think that someone would seriously ask you if your WIFE is single? Especially, when you take in consideration that this joke has been around for years...
ninjastarforcex its also fitting that the hardest letter to get is the "O". (it just furthers the red ring of death because when the letter appears its red)
On the video game console called the X-Box 360, the "red ring of death" is a visual error on the exterior of the main console that indicates some certain conditions. The ring is a lit-up circle with four quadrants, and each quadrant that is lit up as green normally represents a player or game-controller connected to the system. If there is a red quadrant, it means there is some problem with that corresponding controller or internally with the system that prevents further play, but all four quadrants lit up red (making a red ring) generally mean there is a system error or some other fatal condition that can't be remedied without taking the console in for repair.
Just finished all of your videos and subscribed for the next one... keep up the good work. I love these type of puzzles and looking forward to seeing and learning other unique items like the Xbox. Thanks! Jordster360 P.S. Any reason you play your FLEB intro halfway through the video? It's a great intro :-)
Red ring means the HDMI cable or whatever visual cable you're using is either not plugged in properly or is broke. Q1, 3, and 4 is the almost ring of death though.
Great to see what Reddit can do. You are about to gain a whole bunch of new subscribers (including me). But could you pls tell us where we can purchase that astonishing puzzle?
Not sure if you know already but the "Red Ring of Death" is what people call when the Xbox 360 console stopped working and displayed the Green lights for the power button Red. Hence the name "Xbox Puzzle"
Hi! I wanna buy something like this for my cousin but can't seem to find it. When I Google X Box puzzle it just shows me puzzle games for the xbox. Where can I find website that sells puzzles like this?
"Red Ring Of Death" is a reference back to a long standing issue with Xbox 360 consoles. Basically, if your Xbox showed the 'red ring of death', your Xbox was broken. Google it for images...
First thing I would have done was unscrewed all of the screws.
Yeah, same. Especially the one at the top, with the Philips head. If I noticed it was different, I doubt my first thought would be "let's connect this random screw to that other one with a metal wire". I would've unscrewed it and probably consequently broken the whole thing.
Than it would explode

T Fox yep.... hilarious.
It's so anti-ironic!
That’s the joke
Amazing puzzle, but my god was it an anti climax
Yeah. I thought the box was going to open up and reveal something. Whats in the box?? Electronics I guess.
It's literally a perfect circle back to it being called the Xbox. Take a joke.
dulcet le reddit army exdeeeeee zdxdddd
well that seems right if you ever owned a first generation xbox 360....
Reminded me of the movie A Christmas Story when he gets his decoder ring and all it says is," Be sure to drink your Ovaltine"
I like how its called the X box, so naturally one thinks of Xbox game system, but then its all X-men characters so you think "oh not xbox game system the X is for X-men" but then the answer at the end is referring to the Xbox game system with "the red ring of death" lol
Wait... so there's nothing inside?! O__O
That's why you get a PS4 instead.
PC
There's some electronics inside
We know there are electronics inside... the point of a traditional puzzle box was that uh... there was something in there as a reward for solving the puzzle.
youtubasoarus But this is not a traditional puzzle, now is it?
can it run crysis?
Nothin runs crysis
Anything can play crysis, but nothing can play crysis 3
hipnotyq 😂😂
Give it to your sister. Slap her face then shout at her. It will then *run* *cry* *sis*. (Not in that order)
Sorry.
Crecross Official no it doesnt u console peasent crysis is PC exclusive
That's an incredibly clever and well designed puzzle. Knowledge of comics would help, but nothing a quick google search can't find. Ending was a bit of a letdown though. All around great video, thanks.
If you google, you lose anyways. Outside help or influence counts as clues for a puzzle that is meant for you to solve alone.
Btw to give meaning to what I said... try to solve this box as a person living in the 1800's before google or even the internet was a thing...
You have to rub the fleeb juice over it.
if only everyone had cooler more elevated tastes like yours :(
You are reddit.
then a schlami shows up... and he spits on it
woah dude you are so unique with your crazy amazing taste in very obscure shows that you like to make constant references to!!!!!! wow!!!!!
Wubalubadubdub am I right ?!
Where can this puzzle be purchased? I tried searching for XBox, and that was a futile effort.
how is anybody going to solve this on their own?
People who enjoy puzzles typically have good problem solving skills.
Telekinesis=turn the box upside down? This reminds me of the old adventure games in the 80s where you'd have to know to do things like "To unlock the door you have to put the pink rock in your pocket while standing in front of the window" Huh?
Yeah, the others made some sense, but that one didn't make any sense at all.
As mentioned in the video, it was designed to be solved with four people.
You Google the solution.
I would harness the power of my framing hammer and break it open
John S lol
You deserve an oscar for this comment.
Just found this through the front page of reddit, loving your channel!

Great puzzle.
what was the code for the letters on the outside??
I think there is a different mapping for every letter, since you can see BOX -> OXB
I love these puzzles. They keep your mind sharp. And it keeps you from getting bored.
I too just got here from reddit. This deserves more views.
I hope this channel becomes a larger level channel at some point subscriber wise. You deserve it. You are my new favorite channel. And don't forget that this is for everyone's enjoyment yours included.

Found through reddit. Thank you for introducing us to these puzzles!
do you have to wrap the cube in a bunch of towels to get the 'red ring of death' to disappear?
This was extremely interesting with the comic book and console references especially. I enjoy the references to comics and mythology in some of the puzzles.
So...about the key itself.
How is one going to figure out an entire key with no clues ?
You can get pretty far using guesswork, trial-and-error, and patterns. The first things I would've done are probably look for 1-3 letter words (a, of, the, and so on), and also try to figure out which letter corresponds to E. Your description of the processes is epic! I love the detail and attention you give! Keep it up bro! Gonna share ur channel as much as I can!!
Thank you very much!
aye you better copywright "xbox" before anyone else thinks of that sweet ass name
The puzzle is truly amazing and must have taken so much time to develop. I really appreciate you showing us this intricate puzzle. Great job keep the awesome work!
Thanks! Todd Etter did an amazing job with the design!
This was awesome! If i can ask, how'd you solve the cryptogram?
I'm thinking the same thing!
Matthew McCloskey Looks to be a fairly easy letter swap. Just write down A to Z and take note of letters which appear most often, these are your vowels. aur3nnnn He said at the very start it's in English.

This is so amazing. I have all the technical ability to build something like this but I could never come up with the actual puzzle logic and encryption concept on my own.
It's like one of the Da Vincis puzzles
I am a huge super hero nerd and I find that puzzle one of the coolest puzzles ever
I couldn't really catch the final phrase, what was it?
"The Red Ring of Death". It the context of this event, we were looking for something that would destroy the Xbox. That works!
FLEB haha great, love your videos! :)
Thank you very much!
I literally fell asleep no joke because of how smart this guy u are smart fleb keep up the good work

It was a joke, dude, chill. lol.

FLEB Judging by your answer, i kinda doubt that you solved that puzzle yourself... Do you really think that someone would seriously ask you if your WIFE is single? Especially, when you take in consideration that this joke has been around for years...
My god, the patience you must have for these things

Excellent job Fleb-dawg
Nope. You just pull on a few plumbuses and get schwifty. Simple as that mate.

This was very anti-climactic..

I lost you when math happened. Awesome puzzle box though!
Hey man the videos are great and super interesting! Keep it up!
Kid: I want Xbox for my birthday
Dad: *bring these*
Kudos to this puzzle creator for being an X-Men fan. I thought "maybe you need to apply electricity" once I read "Noriko Ashida'

P.S. Any reason you play your FLEB intro halfway through the video? It's a great intro :-)
Me: “I want an xbox for christmas”
Grandma:
Outstanding creativity! Great job.
wow that box was insane..I would've totally smashed it open with my solution hammer LOL great videos though!
+FLEB Awesome videos. Love all the cool puzzles. Any suggestions on how to build a puzzle?
Put the FLEB logo on the bottom LEFT corner of the thumbnails, so it's not covered by the time stamp.
Where did you purchase the puzzle? Is it available to be sold?
Red ring means the HDMI cable or whatever visual cable you're using is either not plugged in properly or is broke. Q1, 3, and 4 is the almost ring of death though.
Great to see what Reddit can do. You are about to gain a whole bunch of new subscribers (including me). But could you pls tell us where we can purchase that astonishing puzzle?
Wow this guy literally has no subscribers as of now. He definitely deserves 100k subs with these types of videos. I claim first sub. :)
Something I haven't seen anybody ask: where did you get ice from during the actual competition?
Can you add a link to where we can buy this?
Not sure if you know already but the "Red Ring of Death" is what people call when the Xbox 360 console stopped working and displayed the Green lights for the power button Red. Hence the name "Xbox Puzzle"
Mega Tank EX Incorrect, there are X-men characters whose powers you use to solve this. The X in X-men is responsible foe the name Xbox
Adriano Colelay Yes i know but the name has a double meaning to the X-Men and XBox, which the Red Ring Of Death is from
Lawsuit from Microsoft incoming. Awesome puzzle. Subbed.
Xbox Puzzle?
Red Ring of Death?
Holy fuck that’s cruel and clever at the same time...
I love it
Hi! I wanna buy something like this for my cousin but can't seem to find it. When I Google X Box puzzle it just shows me puzzle games for the xbox. Where can I find website that sells puzzles like this?
wtf I don't know how I got here but this is fucking amazing man!!
Subbed here before he becomes famous
how did you decrypted the messages/text on the outside of box?
it sounds like someone knocked over a glass of wine when you solved it first to show it to the camera. hope your carpet is okay!
I accidentally hit a glass bowl with the puzzle. The cat was startled, but everything else was fine!
"Red Ring Of Death" is a reference back to a long standing issue with Xbox 360 consoles.
Basically, if your Xbox showed the 'red ring of death', your Xbox was broken.
Google it for images...
it was just an error code.
GoAwayGoogle My old Xbox 360 got it and I had to send it back to Microsoft.
They ended up replacing a board inside.
NOGOODHOODnz
the lights light up in a pattern to tell what's wrong with the xbox and where the unit failed.
You could leave me in a room with this thing for the next 20 years, and I doubt I'd even decipher the code.
I wouldn't even know where to start with this puzzle. How were you able to decipher the initial instruction in the front of the box?!
Didn't explain the whole solution. How did you decrypt the text?
Lester from GTA5 is enjoying retirement I see
the red ring of death refers to an error for the Xbox 360 when the lights on the power button go red, it usually happens when you use it to much
"...into the mysterious box" - you left out the word mysterious ;-)
How were the puzzle hunters given all of the tools to open the box?
big up tekvision
Is that IT! i wanted the box to at least open up and have something cool hidden inside!
where can i buy this amazing puzzle ???
Where can you buy this puzzle? It's beautiful. Thanks for the video :)
How did you translate the writings on the box ,, I couldn't find a pattern to follow
That was pretty cool. The whole time I imagined someone like Nathan Drake trying to solve it.
SAME
