Spoilers:..................... So is this a now different timeline? Was the Arc used in the transfer of videos from the past or were they Dandelions who got to pass on? Was it a Luxu possession? Will this be answered in Kingdom Hearts 6 RE:ConteXualize?
When master of masters tells luxu "youve already succeeded" it basically gives luxu the ability to follow his heart rather than sticking to what MoM tells him to do to a T.
The KH lore dumps have given me a ton of hours of content. Looking forward to more! Thanks guys🤘 Ps. A mini KH quiz where chase asks Monty and Neal like 10 questions would be very funny
Another repost from the original video that I just remembered: Chonteil canonically being Axel's great great great grandfather brings a whole new meaning to Chase's exclamation of "DADDY'S HOME!!!" in 3D, given what we discover at the end of Union X, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Holy. I watched the first hour and half, enjoying the Lore Dump but thinking maybe I was tired of Kingdom Hearts. But man - Union X starts up and it's just a rollercoaster from there. Was absolutely sucked in. Thank you Chase for putting this together and thank you Neil and Monty for being such active listeners. There were so many times where the tangents really helped me understand what was happening; asking great questions or making great connections/callbacks. God I love Lore Dump
I just realized that the main console of the Ark within the Data Daybreak Town being destroyed is a parallel to DiZ' computer being wrecked in Data Twilight Town. It also serves as an easy reminder of which version of said town you are in as both are exclusively wrecked in the Data version. Also, Twilight Town, Daybreak Town...can't believe I just noticed that.
One of my favorite headcanon ideas (some of which is supported by the Foreteller content, some of which is refuted, but I keep it as headcanon anyways) is that each Foreteller is given a publicly known role, but also specifically given a secret one. The secret task seems good and right to the individual Foreteller, but when taking a step back it's clear that the secret task actually incites the divisions that lead to the Keyblade War. Ira (Public): Lead the Foretellers. Ira (Secret): Stamp out any darkness in the Foretellers/their Unions. Aced (Public): Serve as Ira's right hand. Aced (Secret): Lead if Ira isn't able. Gula (Public): Study and understand the mysteries of the Book of Prophesies. Gula (Secret): Discover the mystery of the hidden page and secret traitor. Invi (Public): Watch all with an unbiased eye. Invi (Secret): Use this knowledge to ensure the stability of the five Unions. Ava (Public): Train Keyblade wielders for the future. Ava (Secret): Select the strongest of hearts from each Union to send to the world beyond the Keyblade War. These secret tasks either have enough ambiguity to their bearer or pure enough motive to seem perfectly legitimate. But the actions were certain to lead to the conflict. Ira would be too brash and aggressive in accusing his fellow Keyblade wielders of succumbing to darkness, Aced would see that strife as proof that Ira was unable to lead, Gula would be snooping around very suspiciously, Invi would see being a narc for Ira as a way to instill stability, and Ava would be stealing the most powerful recruits for her own personal order. And the fact that everyone had a secret agenda outside of the publicly known roles that the Master of Masters gave them would make each of them look like a traitor to the others. Again, I know there's a little creative license, but I love this idea and it plays with what most of us know, which is that the Master of Masters intentionally created the divisiveness and conflict in order to lure out the Darknesses. As a bonus, Luxu's role wouldn't be publicly known, but the "base" role would be to protect the secret of the box and monitor events so that the Book of Prophesies could be written, while his secret task would be his plan with trapping the Darknesses. Of course, the Master would know that Luxu would balk at the plan to sacrifice everyone (making him the traitor), and that resentment would be the lure in Luxury for the 7th Darkness. He also knew that Luxu would instead body-hop alongside the box and No Name to provide intelligence to the Master of Masters as he tries to find another way to defeat the Darkness, thus allowing the Master the knowledge needed to make sure that the box had what was needed to ultimately win the war.
Yeah given how he refers to Ephemere as his friend this makes the most sense. Once Luxu took his body his heart was free to travel to the future with the memory being stored by Ephemer's decedents/apprentices and his hat acting as the anchor. Since other wise it would imply Eraqus was luxu's grand son since we know Brain is his Grand Father.
On an unrelated note, I love that you used an echoing effect for the Dark beings in this, like Darkness itself and the Dark Chirithy etc. it gives everything such a good, playful feel to it
Fourth or fifth time watching through the whole series and I picked up on something that I think very cleverly tells us that Luxu was the traitor, when the MoM says that "The traitor bears the sigil." The only sigil that is expressly mentioned in KH is the Recusant's Sigil, which is an X, and Luxu is the only one of the Foretellers that has an X in his name. I don't know if that's what Nomura was going for with it, but damn if it isn't clever as hell.
3:40:34 yeah they are all defeated. I'm assuming it's like how in dream drop distance the 13 all manage to come back AFTER being defeated. Remember Xigbar/Luxu says that he's the one that summons the foretellers back, so I'm guessing that's how they managed to come back.
Monty , I started listening to this after the other lore dumps and the chemistry the three of you have made me comment to myself a few times like yeah I wonder if Neil will stay on after this series . I would have been severely disappointed if he didn't As I was typing a comment about keeping Neil around the interlude came up and you announced it! Fucking awesome. Big ups, much appreciated for all this mind melting, well summarized, and damn funny romp .
The lifeboat seen in the end of the world was in a portal to hollow bastian (radiant garden). Presumably whoever ansems apprentices were experimenting on from the age of fairy tales gave them to knowledge to build the lifeboat thing. Which eventually get used as a test on Kairi
@@MontyZander He has some great moments but I’m very curious how he’s going to tackle Missing Link & KH4. Yeah, I’m cautiously optimistic for the continuation of FF7.
I must say. One thing about that whole Foretellers looking like they're not ready to handle the Willfull Darkness properly is that perhaps MoM's plan does make them seem weak. That's the unfortunate thing. They were in a plan that was supposed to fail by design. Circumstances outside of the plan probably could show a different story, but they were essentially in a whole plan that would invoke as much distrust as possible. Regardless, MoM's plan wouldn't have worked if they actually worked things out. If anything, I think it points out that MoM is smart in that he knows the traits of his pupils and used that spell their own demise. That's probably also why he's so confident in them. Outside of this circumstance that he made for them to fail, they must be strong of heart.

So, not sure if the community was still undecided about it or not at this point before the Dark Road finale but the “Player” is not Xehanort, Xehanort is the descendent of Ephemer. After all, the “Player” is entrusted with baby Xehanort by Skulled (we assume) in one of the scenes.
I think it was sidely believed that the player character became Xehanort, until Dark Road stated otherwise. It didn't help that the visions Player recieved went into Xehanort being with hos classmates, and of course everyone memeing about how we all basically got norted. As for Skull being the mother, I get that too, but I still feel its more plausible for Xehanort's being another character entirely, and that Skuld ends up becoming "X", unless severe amounts of time travel are involved.
Union X is a game of 5D Chess With Multiversal Time Travel - this time with real humans (child soldiers) as the pieces - played between a hivemind of unkillable darknesses and a dude that can see the future.
Been watching all of these & have 3 more to go after this one & I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON LOL 😂 I did find that they are all on Xbox so I will be playing through the series in like a month or so after Jedi Survivor
Up until Union Cross, I had played every single kingdom hearts game. I had disregarded UX as 'just that gacha mobile game with a lot of lore that probably doesn't really matter all that much right now, I can look up a summary about it later'. Now that I've had the story told to me, I was left just as amazed as you guys were. Suddenly, I find myself caring a whole lot about characters that I previously didn't really think much about. And that ending to dream drop distance now suddenly doesn't seem like such a silly little thing anymore. How could a stupid mobile gacha game have achieved so much? And why can we no longer play this?! >.< In hindsight though, I should have known. I knew that UX was probably going to be very important. It's Nomura after all. I just feel like we should be given an option to play through all this in some way rather than just a collection of cutscenes that are out of order. Same with Days and Re:Coded
1:35:10 I find this part especially amusing because I named my character in the Org.XIII member naming format as a kinda gamble-y headcanon that Player will end up related in some way to the inception of Org.XIII or any of its members. Needless to say I jumped in my seat during some points in DR because of that 😂
Hey I know that this was SOOO long ago but I just found it, (and on a side note I honestly feel apart of the conversation when listening so good job! Keep it up!) So In any case, when it talks about the seven of them becoming vessels, the master of masters had mentioned. “This is where you all came in , … Not to just be vessels but to withstand even if (and when) it takes over their heart. “ I think that his plan isn’t to have train them to resist the darkness in the same manner that Riku did, but rather…and hear me out on this… be just like Master Xehanort (he’s back baby! Lol) Anywho, through out the series Master Xehanort goal had been to balance the world. Even through he’s the main villain of phase one, you can justify that what he wants isn’t necessarily evil. In fact, Master Xehanort want to rebuild the world anew, so that there can be an everlasting stability. He is very much just an ends justify the means type of guy and has no qualms about making use of darkness to get there. Playing the part of the villain to maintain the peace. That is not to say that if his plan succeeded that it would actually play out that way, but rather he was moving forward with the state of the worlds peace and a master plan in mind. Which is extremely different from the impulsive and destructive nature of the Ancient 13. So while he was willing to commit all manner of villainy Master Xehanort never lost himself to the darkness completely, but like the master of masters wanted to utilize the prophecy of darkness overtaking the world as a vehicle to being it to peace. (Planning for what comes after) So I think that in phase two, Just like Master Xehanort Each of the 7 Dark kings of the past, will in a sense maintain the will to keep the worlds safe, but express it through the destruction through the corruption of darkness. Trapping the Darkness into vessels which then can be destroyed (by sora of course) And removing them from the world completely. But with the world peace in mind always allowing space for light to prevail over it, subconsciously holding back the darkness’ destructive nature with their own light. This isn’t a critique but just simply my speculation based off of how I felt about the characters over time and what seems like a pretty good explanation of what to expect and I’m curious on the your thoughts
Who believes the master of masters is sora who's just time traveling from a different time who's trying to fight back against destiny so him and his friends can be happy??
@@SkimoStories They weren't even really copies though, except maybe Terranort. The rest were either his Heartless and Nobody, his younger self, other people turned back into Nobodies, a Replica's Heart from the past, and a recreation of Xion. Let me ask this: If the MoM is Sora, did Sora back to the past to become the MoM, did the MoM reincarnate into Sora, or did the MoM fling himself into the future, just so he could be in the same time as the possible "Child of Destiny"?
Thank God this exists as now Union x and Dark Road have been removed from all app stores. So this and other videos on Union x and Dark Road are all that remains
Im still confused on the dark chirithy. I know dark chirithy says they belong to us, but how can it belong to us when we already have our normal chirithy? We can't have 2 chirithys can we?
Other people have said this, and it's completely understandable, the algorithm must be appeased, but it is a shame you can no longer use a full range of vocabulary to describe Donald Duck and Yen Sid. As a British person I can attest that the Scottish absolutely have the best insults. I'm useless with accents, but I could still feel the Scottishness coming through in the previous videos due to the sheer quality of insults being used.
SLIGHT SPOILERS: Yes... -ish. Technically that is different machine from the one in Union X. That one may be the one we see in a flashback in Melody of Memory, made by Apprentice Xehanort.
Took me a while to get to the end of this and knowing I still have 4 more games to cover...I need an adult juice... Like I know how far I am ahead of almost my entire social circle on this franchise just having played CoM, 358/2 Days, and watching the cutscenes for BBS, Re:Coded, and DDD compared to the people who at best played 1 2 3. I played Union Cross until some time just before finding out about Ventus and I just got bored of the repetitive, pay to win, and wait for new chapters gameplay and story so I figured I would wait for it to end and just watch someone cover the whole story like this. It is so complicated and it DOES pay off, but it is just so unpredictably convoluted that it makes you really want to drink in order to properly appreciate the genius but wondering how many details like the pods were put in KH1 knowing exactly how they would be used in the future, and how much was just the devs going "Eh, we'll decide why they're here someday and to keep players invested for years with questions"
Strelitzia is the name of the main mech in the really, really weird Mecha anime Darling in the Franxx, so hearing that a character had that name sent me down a spiral staircase of memory lane and cringe.
Its really disappointing that such an important storyline and backstory are stuck in cutscene hell. No point in trying to view the content in app the way it is formatted. Maybe some day we will get a proper cutscene compilation on another collection disc or something. It doesn't feel like we would get a remake, remaster, or even port for this but hopefully I'm wrong.
Nope! They are shown in cutscenes together (the only two that originally wore the black coats). Though knowing KH they could somehow use time travel to say "these are the same guy" but their mannerisms, personalities, and goals seem to be very distinct

So I think that in phase two,
Just like Master Xehanort
Each of the 7 Dark kings of the past, will in a sense maintain the will to keep the worlds safe, but express it through the destruction through the corruption of darkness.
Trapping the Darkness into vessels which then can be destroyed (by sora of course)
And removing them from the world completely.
Considering both Sora and the Master show up in the KH4 trailer, I think we safely say that theory is 100% not possible.
@@SkimoStories They weren't even really copies though, except maybe Terranort. The rest were either his Heartless and Nobody, his younger self, other people turned back into Nobodies, a Replica's Heart from the past, and a recreation of Xion.
Let me ask this:
If the MoM is Sora, did Sora back to the past to become the MoM, did the MoM reincarnate into Sora, or did the MoM fling himself into the future, just so he could be in the same time as the possible "Child of Destiny"?
Thank God this exists as now Union x and Dark Road have been removed from all app stores. So this and other videos on Union x and Dark Road are all that remains
Can you do a Lore Dump on the Borderlands series?
Im still confused on the dark chirithy. I know dark chirithy says they belong to us, but how can it belong to us when we already have our normal chirithy? We can't have 2 chirithys can we?
Is that Neil in the beginning?
1:25:58 Chonteil looks possessed...wtf is that 😭
Other people have said this, and it's completely understandable, the algorithm must be appeased, but it is a shame you can no longer use a full range of vocabulary to describe Donald Duck and Yen Sid. As a British person I can attest that the Scottish absolutely have the best insults. I'm useless with accents, but I could still feel the Scottishness coming through in the previous videos due to the sheer quality of insults being used.
Question: was the ark in the original version of KH1?
SLIGHT SPOILERS:
Yes... -ish. Technically that is different machine from the one in Union X. That one may be the one we see in a flashback in Melody of Memory, made by Apprentice Xehanort.
Obligatory "I stan Neil" comment here.
Best line in this entire series remains "I'm just annoyed at Darkness. Darkness is a wee lyin' ROACH!"
Strelitzia is the name of the main mech in the really, really weird Mecha anime Darling in the Franxx, so hearing that a character had that name sent me down a spiral staircase of memory lane and cringe.
I'm starting to have Stockholm syndrome for kingdom hearts
Its really disappointing that such an important storyline and backstory are stuck in cutscene hell. No point in trying to view the content in app the way it is formatted. Maybe some day we will get a proper cutscene compilation on another collection disc or something. It doesn't feel like we would get a remake, remaster, or even port for this but hopefully I'm wrong.
Adult juice FTW
Kingdom Hearts child soldiers simulator
I dont know every detail of this and im sure theres an obvious answer to this but is Luxu and the MoM the same person?
Nope! They are shown in cutscenes together (the only two that originally wore the black coats). Though knowing KH they could somehow use time travel to say "these are the same guy" but their mannerisms, personalities, and goals seem to be very distinct
