- This is how I made a simple bark effect in sugarpaste/fondant to create a tree log cake.
I used:-
* Sugarpaste/fondant
* Sharpe craft knife
* Knife modelling tool

Oh, I was watching cause I wanted to make Wood turning event..
what did you use for the bottom part. was it just basic food coloring in brown?
I used brown paste food colouring mixed with a little clear alcohol
Top👍
This is great! Did you have white fondant underneath? Can you just put the brown fondant over an iced cake and not over white fondant?
Hi, yes you can make it however you like.
Hi can you tell me what you painted over the “wood” at the end please?
Hi, I used brown edible powder by sugarflair, mixed with clear alcohol.
@@CakesForShow apart from alcohol what I can use
@@kaajalsharma1225 water can be used instead of alcohol.
What sugar paste do you use and how do you keep it from drying out? I’m having a time perfecting fondant 😢
I like this one from Renshaw www.renshawbaking.com/gb/products/premium-white-cover-paste/ I have also used supermarket brand sugar paste with good results. I slice pieces off and keep it wrapped in its packaging, wrapped in clingfilm, in an air tight container. I place it under an upturned glass/cup or silicone mat to stop it drying out while working with it. All the best 😀
Is it possible to know what is the powder you used to color the 1st piece?
It is Sugarflair Colour Blossom Tint Powder in the colour Chocolate.
Hi, how does the icing/fondent stick to the marzipan .
Hi, I apply cooled boiled water to the marzipan surface with a pasty brush - so it is slightly damp, but not wet.
Well done but what are you using to pint it
I used edible powder/dust by sugarflair, mixed with clear alcohol.
Would you say this is achievable for a beginner?
I'm a beginner. Looks easy enough.
Rhett WOOD like a log cake
Wich color did u use please ? Gel or powder
To colour my fondant, I used ivory paste food colouring for the top and brown paste food colouring for the sides. Then I used brown edible powder, dry on the top and then mixed it with a little clear alcohol for painting the sides.
Will cacao work as brown powder?
I don't see why not, I have never tried it, it may work well.
@@CakesForShow Not so much as power :) But it worked ok for colouring the marzipan
U should have put the top part on after
Nope.
Hello. Wood you like a log cake? Wood you?
What wood you do if you had a log cake? Wood you eat it?
