It is so true that finding the right system for you will take time. Through your financial planner videos you created a new awareness of intentionally sorting that area of my life. But there were books like Getting Things Done, that you have referred to that is really helping me on this "organization journey". Your weekly planner really got me hooked and through research I found Clever Fox journal system. I know I have a ways to go. It has been almost 1 year into the journey and I am loving it and discovering a new me.
Keep putting out your videos. So many of us depend on your wisdom and insight.
Thank you.
I loved the opening story🧡
Omg, #4!!!! That was a HUGE problem I was having until I realized 2 things - 1) I’m some brand of neurospicy, and most tips are geared towards the neurotypical, and 2) time management wasn’t my issue - ENERGY management was. My days have been going MUCH better since I made those realizations!😊
Found your channel today, and I just have to comment and say that I absolutely LOVE these tips. I don’t have space here to tell you how much. The grace that this video has given me, and peace that I am not always wrong and screwing up, just looking at these exact things the wrong way, I honestly can’t even express to you. Thank you!!! This gives me hope to keep going and to know that it’s ok, I’m not a complete failure , and it IS possible to get organized. I’m so glad that I found your channel. New sub!! The Lord is GOOD!
I’ve really been struggling lately and this was the advice I needed today, thank you for your videos, God Bless 🙏🏻
I tweak many things, from cooking, shopping, and budgeting to make it unique to me. To fit my lifestyle at the time.
Great info as always 😊
congratulations on your UA-cam Plaque.
I’m all over the place. I need these tips. So I’ll try to take one part a make it simple to keep it done.
Learning your organizational style helps & if you truly have a desire to become organized or be an organized person don’t just give up after one failed attempt
Thank you for these tips! Definitely need to keep it simple😅
Thank you Alaina. I needed these reminders.
You are a class act 🧡
Thank you for this video, Alaina. This was necessary. I always approach anything I learn with the mindset to just use the base; in other words, I use it as a foundation.
The main thing is to learn the elements necessary to incorporate in your system. Like your videos: 1. money mistakes 2 areas of your life should you organize, 3 money numbers you should know just; this is the meat.
I've learned so much over the time I've been reviewing your videos.
I have a planner, and it's not close to an organized u. But I have been consistent and building a habit of using it, checking and recording my action steps and plan; as a result, I've seen progress and growth.
Meaning, I've started to plan around the person I am and my income I have now.
I've created spaces for video notes from your videos that have helped me create a framework for how I need to plan
My envelopes are actual envelopes. After I have achieved a level of mastery in my new habits, I will purchase a bonifed planner that fits the "organized me" with room for change and adjusting, along with the envelops wallets yiu use I'm attracted to them.
Great video, you are amazing.
Thank you for sharing your thought process and part of your journey. I see it as a great compliment to Alaina. She is amazing.
I'm currently struggling to understand like what categories to shove my stuff into. Like I see variable funds, sinking funds and struggle figuring out what those means without a 'dumb guide to budgeting'
And I'm like, what category do my pet costs fall under. What about my cats recurring subscription for prescription cat food every two weeks. Is that a variable fund or a fixed fund. And figuring out all of those little things is so confusing. And then I struggle with what goes on my paycheck tracker vs my expense tracker. I KNOW I'm going to be ordering on amazon a bunch of things. Is that a generalized 'personal' fund or is that a category on it's own "online shopping" or "amazon purchases" and then categorize under that or a sinking fund. Does that go in my paycheck tracker or do I just put it in my expense tracker as it adds up. Is that something I set 200 dollars aside for, or is it something that I just spend and later go 'oh here's the missing money flow'
I know people organize differently but the fact that I'm still struggling to sort my stuff into categories and don't understand how to make my own categories because I'm that far in the beginning still is where I'm budget failing. I want to understand budgeting but I just don't get it HEARING it, I need to SEE it and there's not many videos of someone showing and explaining different categories. (and yes I watched your video on sinking funds and setting them up but it seemed more like planning for vacations)
I'm a learner that relies on someone showing me how to do something very specifically first and then I can modify that. But there's so many videos going 'ya know just do what works for you' and I'm struggling to tackle 'what works for me' without knowing how someone else does it very specifically
I'd love to see a yearly overview of one of your older budget journals to see how everything was completed and filled out. And knowing when do I fill out certain things, as it happens or on a weekly check in. It's just so much info to process
Right now I'm just trying to set a routine on writing in my budget journal. Whether or not I make any progress budgeting is secondary. I need the routine first and foremost lol.
I guess part of what I'm saying is, I don't know enough about myself to even begin to categorize for myself personally without using someone else's set up as a copy-paste-style guide and then seeing 'okay this doesn't work so I'm going to remove it next month' ya know?
In the first 3 months of budgeting we are really guessing. We don't know enough about ourselves or our habits to really be effective. Its hard to say what is exactly going to work for you because all of our situations are so different. The best advice I got when starting my budgeting journey was to not get too concerned with the perfect method. Try and keep trying and over time you will find what works for you.
Looking at your bank transactions and looking at what you currently spend your money on are the best ways to find what categories may work for you.
