    PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY !!!!!
    Dude, you've always been there since I don't know how long, answering my questions whether I was asking directly to you or not, you are one of the first filmmaker that I started to really follow back in the days. Thanks for that, for your time for your community.
    Its exactly the look I was looking for years, without having to invest in film camera

    This video has EXCEEDED my expectations, BEYOND. I've been chasing the 16mm film look because I love the classic look, particularly from the 90s era. Though I still want to achieve that look, it's opening my eyes to realize that the look will be its most authentic by actually utilizing an actual 16mm film camera. But then I watched this video and realized something. Though the footage shot in this video is digital with a software to emulate film, there's still something very magical about this look. I think this is the look a lot of filmmakers would strive for because of it's filmic-digital expression. Digital with a filmic edge and vice versa. This look brings a whole new meaning to futuristic. But classically futuristic. If the film camera era was still booming today as much as it was over 20 years ago and beyond and then a more modern, digitalized look came along that made the footage look more cleaner, this would be the brainchild behind that creation. Your work is incredible on its own, but based on your filmmaking style Dehancer complements your work.
    This is an inspiration to me and now I know what look I'm going for now in a digital world. I don't have Dehancer, but in-body camera settings, the lens, and a diffuser filter is all I'll need before I do slight enhancements in post.
    Thanks Brandon!

      For me the answer will be shooting with a minimal amount of lens diffusion like a 1/8 black pro mist and then subtly tweaking it with Dehancer in post. I will still be taking it off and on for stills/video but the diffusion is going to live on the front of my vari-ND which I take on and off anyway.

    • @BrandonLiUnscripted

    The first few shots definitely have a filmic look but the music and font choice definitely adds to that effect. But digital will never be able to replicate the texture of film. It's impossible. That's why the Nolans, Pfeisters and Tarantinos of the world still shoot on film. But nice work for sure.

    • @BrandonLiUnscripted
      @BrandonLiUnscripted  2 роки тому

      Regarding bloom, I think Dehancer does a good job of replacing mist filters. It’s not 100% realistic but most people won’t notice, most of the time. Halation wouldn’t happen with any glass filter because it’s an artifact of film processing so you need to use Dehancer or the native Resolve halation fx.

      Well this is very subjective, but I’ve tried Nitrate and all the film profiles looked muddy or just somehow “off”. Worse than the original camera colors. With Dehancer I feel like the film profiles maintain the quality of the original colors while still adding a different film look to them. • @glebv
      @glebv 2 роки тому

      That is definitely not a correct blanket statement. You just need to use the right encoding, and Resolve definitely doesn't give a granular-enough control for it.
      In my process I export a max-quality export from Resolve (DNxHR444 at highest setting) and encode it via ffmpeg (myFFMPEG gives great GUI, Handbrake is a free alternative) with a grain-preserving tune (it's an actual inbuilt setting), at highest settings (444, 10-bit, Intra, highest bitrate), and this is the best compressed result you can currently get, other than going DNxHR or ProRes.
      Btw, upon multiple tests - uploading the actual HUGE DNxHR file to UA-cam still gives you the best result in terms of grain preservation (it's still terrible on YT, but it's the best you can get right now). If you don't have the option to upload very large files - a high quality H.265, like described above, will get you 80-90% of the way at 10% of the file size.
