Perhaps after 13 years we need a new vision? Not saying we do but if it's another tank job this year it's time to talk about it seriously.

@@The2ndavepete Maybe we do, but not for any reason you stated? Marc and Ibaka we had nothing we could do. Should we have traded them during the chip year or something? FVV was offered a sizeable contract and left because he got massive overpay, plus its his turmoil along with Nick Nurse that started the bad chemistry that unfoiled the team. Masai gave those dudes a chance to make it all work and its on the players and coach as to why it failed... yet you blame Masai? Pascals other offers were worse, Masai thought he had a team not full of Divas but aparently he was wrong. The Atlanta trade for less picks and Hunter was way better to you? Kawhi also, ABSOLUTELY nothing we could do.. wild you mentioned that at all. Klow was walking as the greatest Raptor of all time to finish out his career on a contender. You really going to give Masai crap for that? Hell Klow did us a solid in giving us a sign and trade to boot.. who knew Dragic would end uo being a little diva and Achiuwa was clearly worth a shot with that athelticism and strength. He always had lots of potential, it just didn't pan out. THATS on Masai????? Him trading Dragic away and having to give up compensation to do so is a fumble, but thats it so far. Danny Green? I guess? We might have got a 2nd rounder for him.. but my god is that a weird one to be mad about. He made some mistakes, but not many if you actually consider the cirumstances and none of the mistakes were ones you mentioned

What number draft selections were Kyle, Pascal , OG and FVV ? Chomche would be a top 5 draft pick next year and with Koloko giine the Raptors will get another high draft pick next year. With all of the stacked teams in the NBA right now the Raptors were not close to contending . Darko and his staff did a great job last year at improving most of the players on the team. Just so everybody knows the business end of this deal. Bell sold off its 37.5% and is using the $4.6 billion to pay down its debt.
Rogers on the other hand went into more debt to acquire Bell's 37.5%. Things we are certain of, Rogers bills and MLSE ticket prices will be going up a lot for a far inferior product. Winning is not the number one priority for Roger Shareholders making money is.

Again, the ownership change dramatically changes how Rogers will account for the Raptors in their financial statements. I may be wrong. But I do not think this sale will close very easily.
The money details in the press release were sketchy as hell. Rogers is paying 24% of its overall value as a company for 37.5 % of MLSE but no new debt ? And they don’t have this money on hand. ?
It requires leaugue approvals CRTC approval and competition bureau of Canada approval. 2 of the 3 just finished taking Rogers over the coals over Shaw less than 18 months ago. And forced wind mobile to be sold to a different company. This is likely to be extended past spring 2025 announced
I’m not concerned with Rogers financial policy. They don’t spend for rebuilds and if the teams are close to contention they do.
Edward has been a wildcard - he’s an alt-right trump supporter ( literally with donations ) and it’s been showing - But I don’t think he wants to rock the boat too much because it puts him in the media which he abhors - because he has a stutter. That’s why if he’s on camera someone else is with him always. ( this presser he had to slowdown on “Blue Jays” a Masai battle - it doesn’t compute for either of them. The issues were resolved. Masai isn’t the most expensive executive any more; the open gym camera was explained; Masai and Justin Trudeau aren’t as publicly Buddy Buddy and Drake is still around but toned down. Edward doesn’t want the Press - Masai doesn’t want to move his young family with kids in school and settled nicely to the USA. My guess is Masai is here for another contract extension.
Though this background stuff going on explains why Keith Pelley the longtime Rogers media head is now MLSE CEO as it would be abnormal for Bell to approve him otherwise.
I think once this is done Edward Rogers goes back to his normal ultra private existence and Staffieri and Pelley will be the faces.

While Masai and Bobby Websters legacy is set in stone as Toronto legends with that championship win the last 4-5 years have been brutal. Bad timing, bad decisions, bad trades and poor signings. Its like they are trying to make up for trading Derozan by overvaluing and babying players because they feel guilty for making the trade. Maybe thinking that players dont want to come/stay here because we dont value loyalty.
You also dont get massive contract extensions for what you did almost a decade ago and that is what both Masai and Bobby will expect. One or both will need to go. The future of this team revolves around Barnes, Barrett and Quickly all becoming far better than they currently are, which is troubling. Big changes are definitely coming.

Seattle is definitely on the short list but there will be a second team to keep the league balanced. Mexico city has been mentioned but has major issues around dense population, air and traffic problems plus the elevation above sea level not to mention the crime rate.

Best thing that can be done to build a better group of execs is for Ted Rogers to accompany Massii to Africa and see the outreach work he accomplishes. I think he would be most impressed by what he does by what he offers to the Continent of Africa which will be the next huge foundation of the next generation of future NBA players.
If Ted Rogers does not then I agree Masaii 's days will be numbered which is rediculous just like when they hired Mark Shapiro over Alex Anthopoulos for the Blue Jays. Maybe then Alex should be hired to oversee both the Raptors and the Jays now that would be thinking outside of the box.

Just because Pat Riley can build a winning team in Miami it doesn’t mean he can do it in Canada. The players he can attract to Miami might never want to play here. I don’t think some of you guys understand how difficult it is to build a winning NBA team in a city where stars and superstars don’t want to come. There’s a reason why Dennis Schroder is the biggest free agent to sign here and he’s never been an allstar. Have you ever seen a star or superstar with Toronto on their list of preference for a trade ? 🤔 too many people think you can just hire some random GM here that can bring in KD level superstars. No GM can make guys that don’t to want to play in Canada play here. This isn’t Hockey! Also change is not always a good thing, or the right move just because you think it is.

I hope they fire massai is about time. he been milking the championship way to long, he been making bad decisions after bad decisions. Raptors fans are so delusional they dont see how much massai screw this team over.

Its time to let Masai go. The longer he stays, the worse the Raptors become

@@jadenpereira5010 bro u know Webster is not going nowhere and that’s what makes it so wrong. Both of them ..and start fresh. Webster is of very little talent. His family name got him there. Ujiri will be ok he have lots of options but Webster …cha nobody want him.

Masai has reached his expiration date! Thankful for what he did in the past and gave us a championship!
Time for a new look and vision!

I'LL BE EXCITED WITH MASAI LEAVING and his cronies, but I'm not keen on ROGERS TAKING A BIGGER STAKE. ROGERS IS PROFIT MOTIVATED, not necessarily interesteed in building a dynasty, or a team that is going to win. They may just say, hey, we fill the seats, we don't need to do more. Bell has 1/2 th tv rights so ROGERS doesn't really care much about that revenue stream.

I know people will hate that I even suggest this, but I want the government to step in and block this sale. This should not go through as it will kill the Raptors team and ruin a lot of things for consumers as well. Terrible news.

The minute the current media deal with TSN ends the Raptors games are going to be exclusive on SportsNet. Mark my words.
