A gem!! This Lady is so precious. A voice that can't be replicate. It's a must that I join in by saying how uncelebrated she is but if she reads this I just want to her know that she is most cherished by her Fans.
I interviewed her and met her again while living in Japan in the 80s. She was just as sweet and gracious as she appears here. Her voice just has a special timbre you don't often hear - both speaking and singing. And she has a musicality one certainly doesn't hear often these days. A real gem.

I remember her songs, with that tinge of sweet-soulful-sad used to make me cry even when I knew no lyric line...they still do. Grew up hearing her music (my aunt was a fan, and it's because of her I would up liking the sad, but beautiful Crawford gem "Rio De Janeiro Blues", which,according to my aunt, was only available on cassette at the time (early '90s.) Underrated as a singer to some extent,too---nice to see her getting some love overseas.
This lady along with the Cruisaders was so underrated stateside,I had the fortune to watch them in a small theatre in Hastings ,England,just magnificent.

Randy, dont know if you will ever ead this BUT you are one of the best R&B Singers we have ever encountered in the UK. Almaz, is such an amazing song that you wrote, love the story that goes with it. You will never know how many pianists i have asked to play it for me. I just wish I could see a really great piano turorial, so I with my limited ability I could follow. i would love to be able to honour your song by playing it. Born in a worls where love survives.
