Great detailed tutorial. I have tried this during one of my training session. You're right when you said it's hard to focus on just moving the shoulder and not rotate the hips.
Thank you for your footwork vidoes. I would say it's the best so far for what I've seen. You get the points clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much.
Tabias this is a great video, thank you. Learnt a lot on the landing and recovery and the small details you go into and explaining the benefits with this kind of shot and when to use it. Keep up the good work! Thanks again
Quite comprehensive and filmed very well. Expecting your channel to be at the forefront of badminton training. Something else you could try is to analyze pro play? It seems with your knowledge it would be beneficial for the advanced viewer or those of us that would like to see the skills/tactics you teach about applied in high level play.
Thank you :) today i recorded a new video where i talk about advanced footwork and things that topplayers are doing. Next week it will be on my channel ;)
Awesome! It's finally here! Just one thing: What is the difference between the forehand and backhand jumps, because I have heard that they are not completely the same?
Technically there is no big difference between fh and bh. On the backhand side you should use it mainly to intercept very flat shots, if the shuttle comes higher you can easily use hiprotation on that side. On the forehandside you use it in more situations, not only for interception
@@neeldhebar2350 you mean a jump with bodyrotation? Yes you can do that especially when you can get under the shuttle or if you have an extremly powerful attack where your opponent cant play a cross defence. (It is hard to follow up cross if you attack with a scissor jump on your forehand side) Just watch some videos of viktor axelsen, he is doing it all the time but he knows that his attack is so dangerous, that he will score or his opponent can only play a bad defence.
@@tobiaswadenka8435 So basically, the backhand jump allows for body rotation? Because I do prefer it when attacking. One last thing, when is it better to do this movement over a jump smash?
Hn off court ist difficult. There are only two things that come to my mind right now: 1) watch videos of top players doing deceptions and oberserve what they are doing to create deceptions 2) improve your touch with racket and shuttle, for example by throwing up the shuttle with the racket and catching it again without any bounce when it lands on the strings. You can make it more difficult for example by changing grips between throwing up and catching or move the racket around the shuttle when it is in the air before you catch it again (like the soccer trick "around the world")
Hello, I was taught to play always looking for the front shot, but some people tell me that I should strengthen my backhand shot. How can I practice it and how convenient is it to use?
Sooooo good. Want to ask...what is the variation for a cross court drop when hitting it with a China jump posture, because if under pressure, our body will be facing more towards the right court edge and so our body is not naturally directed towards a cross court shot. Same question for if we want to perform a cross smash.
Playing crossduring a china jump can be tricky. Therefore you have to adjust the grip a little bit and maybe also adjust the wrist position a little bit during impact, depending on how far behind the body you hit the shuttle
Thx for reply. I ask this because after a few shots, opponent learns that I will smash straight down the line into the tram line and so is prepared for a criss court defense, so sometimes it would be nice to add some variations.
Hi Coach, Can you please help me.. In Which day What training suppose tooo doo.. Means Monday What training Tuesday What training like that... Can u please me in dis...
The answer depends on so many aspects, for example how often you train, what your level is, what kind of training you are used to, in what part of the season you are in, what possibilities and facilities you have etc etc. So it is impossible to just give an easy answer for that
You could have added some more details that there is no need to make a cross over between legs and secondly, we had to land on toes. Waiting for your next video :-)
Sometimes the cross behind can help to cover some extra distance (i talk about it in part 2 of the footwork tutorials) and it is often used in combination with a china jump if you want to intercept shots on the sides. Yes you are right, if possible land on your front foot and lean a little bit forwards/towards the direction you want to go so you can recover faster :)
Great informative video . bdw I have a question. The badminton floor is made of what material? our association is going to build a badminton court . this material look great. What is it? can you please help?
Thank you. Do you mean the floor during the slow motion parts or during the other parts? During slow motion I play on a normal badminton court (something like this: www.indiamart.com/proddetail/badminton-court-mat-yonex-ac367-3852620848.html), unfortunately i am not sure what material the other floor is made of.
It works when you have enough time to turn your body and get under the shuttle but still have to hit during a backwards movement. A tight net shot will often force a very high lift, that will give you enough time to get behind the shuttle and to jump up (Jumpsmash) or step into the shuttle for your shot.
@@tobiaswadenka8435 dear tobias thanks for the reply, yups that's what I think too. Typically I see lots of China jumps from momota since he keeps his centre of gravity so low.
I just want to ask. I recently had two training sessions per week but now my dad refrained me from going there because he believed that I didn’t have the “talent” to be successful in badminton. Is it still possible to train badminton by yourself with a large background outside your apartment? So, maybe I can still use the techniques tabas provided us and can still reach to the level where I can cover the whole court easily and effectively?
It depends on what you mean by successful, if you want to reach a professional level, you need to have proper training and I don’t think you would reach this level without training on a actual court. I also think that you should tell you dad that you don’t need to reach a professional level if you go to badminton training. It can be a hobby or to improve physical fitness
Hi Tobias, I am playing Badminton for about 9 months now. I mostly play doubles. People keep telling me that my biggest weakness right now is that I often fail to move to the front or to the rear/side in time, depending on where the shuttle goes. I often fail to go to the front after me or my partner played a short ball, or I am too slow in moving back, after my partner played a long ball. Do you maybe know of an exercise (alone or multiple players) that could help me to practise this better?
A common mistake i often see is that players in doubles tend to wait with going to the net or to the back until the partner hits the shuttle. For example there is a long and high shot on your partner and he goes to the rear court. Now you should already move to the net, when the shuttle just left the opponents racket. If you wait on your side and then your partner hits a smash, you will always be low at the net if the opponents just plays a short defence. Do some double games and focus on moving, even when you are not the one hitting the shot.
What do you mean by that? You need control in your foot and ankle when you land and you have to be able to stabilize the joint before you touch the ground

Excellent coaching, many thanks for your time invested in making this video.
Aloha Coach Tobias great video , you cover all the bases on the China jump. Thank you. The practice drills are spot on too.
Thanks a lot
I was very confused about this one
This just confirmed that what my coach deemed as "lazy" was actually me just using a china jump to smash when its too far beside me
