The same as some of my old watches, unable to find any or little information, think the dial had its markers repainted, hands looked untouched, yet to buy a Fortis, let you know if I do.
In terms of size and design this is my sort of thing. I hate this recent trend for oversized watches. 38mm is the ideal size for me and the simplicity of the classic 60s dress watch design is sublime.
Nice little watch. Do you know where it was coming from? If it's from India it certainly is a Mumbai Special. I do have an HMT with the exact same case and hands. Dial looks similar but without the Fortis wording. If this is a real Fortis it should not have any working lume left. The watch would be from the 60s or 70s when all Swiss Watch Manufacturers used Tritium. If it would be a Tritium Dial from that era, the lume would light up, but be gone within a minute. So it is most certainly a re-dial. Same goes for the hands. The case also looks identical to the one of my HMT. The movement may or may not be a Fortis. 17 jewel hand wound was pretty much a standard movement back in the day. Indian manufacturer HMT also made one based on a Citizen 17 jewel hand-wound movement. So I am pretty certain it is not a genuine vintage Fortis but a "Franken watch". IMHO nothing wrong with that as long as you are aware of it and you did not overpay. It's still a fun little, good-looking watch. Wear it in good health
Thanks, I suspect all that may be true. As you say , take it for what it is. The lume does disappear quickly. I didn't pay much for it so can stay quite content. Good comment thanks!
It's fake. You can't find anything about it "in the catalogues" because it's a fake Mumbai Frankenwatch which most people with a basic knowledge of watch collecting could spot a mile away. Yeah you "fell for it" alright! lol

Any info welcome
@@perfectwrist23 Have you tried the watch forums?, you can contact Fortis via their website using a contact form.
Thanks for that. No I hadn't. Will tho
@@perfectwrist23 Good luck 🤞
What a beauty. I prefer vintage watches as well, I have too many
So addictive. Wait till you see my SOTC later this year.......
I also have this problem! I like it on the brown leather strap best. Looking at a 50s Benrus Pointer date currently
It's addictive. When the time keeping is good they're unbeatable
Congrats. It's an amazing looking watch. I couldn't have resisted this one either. I am also more attracted to watches from the past.
So much value on offer

I'm on that same journey. Getting down from 38 to 37 and 36mm. Once you get accustomed
That looks very classy.

It's not an 'Indian special' is it? A few on Ebay for not much money from India which means they're Frankenstein watches.
I thought that but it's a genuine fortis caliber
@@perfectwrist23 Good find then 👍

I think so. Wasn't expensive and it wears well
