- The Crow’s Theatre and The Musical Stage Company’s co-production of Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 by Dave Malloy has been one of the highlights of the 2023/24 Toronto theatre season. After playing to sold-out houses for a record-breaking 16 weeks at Streetcar Crowsnest, the smash hit musical is transferring to Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre as part of the 2024/25 Mirvish Main Subscription Season.
Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, by celebrated and award-winning composer Dave Malloy is based on a scandalous slice of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace.
Young and impulsive, Natasha arrives in Moscow to await the return of her fiancé, Prince Andrey, from the front lines of Napoleon’s attempt to invade Russia. When she falls under the spell of Moscow society’s notorious playboy, the dashing rogue Anatole, it is up to Pierre, a family friend in the middle of an existential crisis, to pick up the pieces of Natasha’s shattered reputation and offer her hope and redemption.

I like that it's being transferred, but I worry that the immersiveness and intimacy that makes the show what it is will be lost in the larger space
yeah, they also connected with the audience, dancing with them, winking at them, and doing things like that
Since I first seen it a month ago I have been back for a second visit. I hoped that Mirvish would pick it up for the still unannounced show for the new season. GREAT CHOICE. BUT also concerned as others have been as a larger theatre will not allow the intimacy with the audience interaction. Fingers crossed it works as well.
My favorite musical, done so well and so beautifully! Well done!!

I saw this on broadway with Josh Groban - this is the big fantastic show we've been waiting for? really? come on... it was OK at best. bit disappointed. But hey, at least it's not Mamma Mia or CATS. Oh wait Mamma Mia is a subs show (still confused by that..)
I heard from people who saw both productions that this one was better than the Broadway version, if that helps.
