I've been driving NX350H for 3 months. Absolutely amazing. Enjoying it everyday and nothing for complaining. A big shout out to Lexus for all details
Onto my third Lexus, current one a NX 200t sports luxury AWD which I’ve had for 4 years … comfortable, quiet, reliable, economical to run as in servicing, a surprisingly quick car .. very practical to live with 👌
Thanks a lot Paul!
Hey Paul,
I just have a question in relation to the 80 to 120 times in your reviews.
Is there an industry standard for this test? I completely get that testing as part of the 0 to 100km/h is convenient, however the time from 80km/h to 120km/h during overtaking will be noticeably different to the above and generally slower for most vehicles.
Thoughts and feedback?
Great review Paul! I bought the NX 350 AWD with the 2.4T engine. Should be delivered within the next couple of months. I hated the CVT transmission in the hybrids - too much cabin noise and sounds like someone riding the clutch constantly!
The best of the litter in my humble opinion.
Thanks for doing the driver aids section for your car reviews! Question: Does the Lexus NX allow Lane Tracing Assist to be turned on independantly of the dynamic cruise control?
Thanks!
Seems line lane tracing only works with cruise control. Otherwise it’s lane keeping assist.
Hi mr Marik Can you review the Mercedes Maybach sedan if you can
Just took delivery of my NX 350h FWD... great vehicle, only ho hum is the flat run tyres
Isn’t the hybrid AWD?
My big ho hum is no spare.
Not sure if its just on video, but the proportions of this seems a bit off. Windows look too small and bonnet and front too heavy, wonder if this is because of the relation to the squarer RAV4.
I had this base model since March 2022. Bought it under novated lease which fits in perfectly for my tax bracket for a 3 year repayment period to maximise tax benefits. Family loves the quiet & soft especially at highway speeds. Perhaps the run flat tyres are a bit too bumpy on city roads. Will change them to normal Michelins when they wear out
What car are you talking about?
@@patrickgagnon9662 NX250
Both great SUV's in the end ....enjoy your driving !@@yslee1401
You will wish you kept run flats when you get a puncture . No spare is a big turn-off for me.
I got my 450h 3 mths back after 18 mths wait, 450 h is just amazing , it was worth wait.
Yeah, the 450h+ looks fantastic and have a great ride and great tech. Mines 3 months away. *Do you charge it daily?
Charging my phone is enough charging the car not interested.
Paul, whats the price of this model?
Great review. Great car too. I have the 450h+ on order for delivery in the next 3 months. I'm ok with the wait because the car is so good.
I got mine 450h end of june, i m pretty sure you wont regret. Its just awesome vehicle to drive, so quite n powerful if needed. I drive eco.
Great to hear - I can't wait! Do you charge it every day?@@karkybibek
@@mikebedford4362 you have to, otherwise u will be using petrol n not worth buying 450. I have done 3900 sth km, n filled $30 x2 = $ 60 , worth of fuel, even that to keep new engine running so as not to cease. Best is if u charge during 🌞everyday, n have solar installed, zero cost.
Nice
Can you please still give it a punch down the back straight and show us the speedo and the rev counter even when it's dry (just for a little bit)?
When are you doing the Cannon XSR review?
Hey mate excellent as usual.. Silly old me bought a std Hyundai Nona for $35,000 drive away but with a win in lotto all up for grabs... but if not I reckon if not so good... then good enough it OK ..🤪
Lexus will always be better than any European or Korean car . Reliability and build quality.
Hahaha sorry bmw and merc are miles ahead.
Always buy Japanese and overseas holidays with the $ saved😅
Agreed. Those German Teutonic brands are endless money pits
Absolutely agree
The whole point of a “luxury” car is to give you a more enjoyable driving experience, even if this adds to complexity, cost and maintenance. When a Lexus handles like a BMW, rides like an Audi or has a modern Merc-like interior then let me know.
I live in south Florida where it tends to flood in some areas. Where is the air intake and how deep of a puddle can you go through without risking damage to the engine?
about 3.275 inches
Alan partridge loves a Lexus 😂
I like your Seiko, Paul. What sort is it?
It’s an Astron :-)
Should combine car with watch reviews, there is a market.😅
There’s a Dutch guy called Floris Wyers who has a UA-cam channel called ‘Pure Luxe’, it’s in Dutch but still interesting to watch even if you don’t understand Dutch 😉
If it was an AWD and not an FWD I would be interested.
Why?
The NX 350 has AWD and also has a turbo engine & 275 HP. I would've liked if he reviewed that car as it's much better.
I considered this but I thought you and other reviewers said this 4 cylinder was under powered to a point it’s best avoided. I went for a top spec CX-5 turbo instead.
Paul actually said plenty of power😮
@@daweigo6851I have to switch the setting to Eco mode so that I don’t accelerate too much and optometrist over the speed limit after getting a few speeding tickets
@@daweigo6851 In this video, but I’ve seen other videos where the opposite was said. I don’t remember if it was this channel or a different channel.
@@daweigo6851 It may have been Tom on Chasing Cars that gave me the impression it was either under powered or only just adequate. I remember whoever it was also compared it to the Mazda and said that even though the same size engine the Mazda was a better performer. I’m happy with my CX-5 turbo but I might test drive the NX non turbo later in the year. I can now make my own good comparison. I do find the CX-5 turbo to have lots of zoom zoom when I need it.
Based on the Mazda cx5 turbo engine specs it should perform better than it does. 7.7 secs to 100 with the cx9 doing 7
89 with same engine specs. A Gla/Glb 250 with less kw and less torque comes in under 7 secs.
Must be in the Gearbox.
The little "nook" is for the key.
Why do you always question where to store your phone after you just showed the ingenious spot to put it,!
would have thought high end lexus would get rid of piano black for the reasons we all know.
front Halogen turn signals😮, while rear ones are LEDs, why Lexus
Cost cutting
xD they save you money when you need to replace
Lexus only exists for profit, like all large companies
More relax now I see..not so stiff..
I haven’t thought much about run flat tyres and repair kits being the only provisions not full or space saver tyres… how many kms do the run flats last? what if you are doing a Sydney to Melbourne or Brisbane road trip on say a Sunday and have a puncture along the way and there are no tyre shops open… I guess calling road side service is a start…
Thats the whole idea, call for help. Money sweet money to be made. 😊😊
Can literally end off the road for days betweeh syd and Melbourne,. Run flats are normally rated 80 k distance at 80k per hour. Try find tyre place open with replacement trye on weekend etc. They need to be replaced not repaired.
Seriously guys you can always put a normal tyre on from a regional tyre shop as a temporary fix
I've got run flats and haven't had a puncture in 26000kms. Giving a spare on board in these times won't help most dumbshts anyway.
@@yumistaspotissue is not many tyre places around in regional areas that open on weekends
Great review as always, however I do think it would be fairer to compare the nx to maybe an x1 and gla .
It does appear to be quite compact.
It's a mid size equal to x3 etc in size
100mm longer and otherwise dimensionally equivalent to an x1 and 200mm longer than a gla. The lines are somewhat blurry when it come to the categorisation of many vehicles of similar size. I just don't think it should be compared to a glc with a starting price of 100k +
NX is based on a RAV4, so it’s way larger than a GLA or X1
How does it compare to Mazda CX-5?
Not well at all.
I would take a top spec cx-5 over this, still cheaper too
It’s interesting to compare base trim if premium brand with top trim of normal brand
With the lexus having some incandescent bulbs instead of full led, no cooled front seats, no heated rear seats, and even a whole heap slower compared to the 2.5L turbo cx-5, the mazda definitely feels a lot more premium in my opinion
sure does
Why compare it with Q5, X3, GLC when it is in the price range of Q3, X1, GLA? 🤔
Same size as q5, x3 etc, that's the market it competes in
If get flat tyre in country Australia, probably need a tow truck 😮
Looked seriously at one of these instead of a Rav4. Really dislike CVT’s and Toyota only have an 8 speed torque converter box in the 2,5 VX. The Lexus has a good maintenance plan here whereas Toyota only offer a service plan. But the run flats were the dealbreaker. No ways in South Africa with our poor roads, including in urban areas, was I prepared to chance it. Only a matter of time before landing up on a flatbed!
That’s one of the reasons why I did not get the 350h (apart from maximising the tax benefits from novated lease)
......................Hey Idiot!!! this vehicle DOES-NOT have a CVT!!!!.... This is a not a CVT gearbox, it is an e-CVT which is an epicycloidal transmission and no belt of any kind. eCVT is completely different from a cvt. eCVT doesn't use belt/band. Nothing are the same.
It's a transmission that contentiously varies, the mechanics are different but the outcome is the same !
Wish it was 2.0 turbo, or even 2.5 turbo!
That’s the NX350 with the new 2.4 Turbo with the same power as the old 3.5 V6 :)
Don’t buy a ev in Victorian you have to pay our Dictator a ev tax for every kilometer you travel
You are using the roads so you need to contribute to filling in the millions of potholes.
LEXUS is a brand which is really Toyota (reliability) with superior clothes and a nice service centre.
I have had the 350h AWD sports luxury since April same colour with enhancement pack ( panoramic roof, larger infotainment screen etc). Can't fault it except for the CVT that sounds like a dying cow. Lol.
😅
CVT on a luxury vehicle is rediculas.
So frustrating, 60k for a car and it's still not got wireless android auto.
A mid sized luxury car should be a rear wheel drive or a rear bias 4 wheel drive.
Silly to make the better models with a CVT.
I would prefer rear wheel drive but I would stay away from the hybrid as well, as the battery is smaller but it is still as dangerous and still the same as the EV battery.
Toyota build literally millions of hybrids and most of the taxi's on the road are Toyota hybrids and there are no issues and its completely reliable.
@@mikebedford4362 Go ahead and buy one bud. no skin off my nose.
@@mikebedford4362yep. you don't even have to think twice about buying a lexus/toyota hybrid. they're one of the pioneers in hybrid tech
@@mikebedford4362battery will still need to be replaced eventually.
There is literally no luxury car as reliable as Lexus.
My Apple i phone 15 pro is not compatible. Phone works terrible in this car. Didnt know this until I drove it off the lot. Such a dissapointment , and like was a hidden issue. Lexus is like ' Oh well".
Lexus needs a dual screen setup in their vehicles
SUV compares to BMW X5 definitely sound engineering Lexus
Lexus NX 250 should come AWD with hill climb and decent feature that Toyota RAV4 edge has. What a shame they selling this FWD crap to most of the people who haven’t got a good knowledge of cars. Lol
Silly comment, most people don't need or want awd, irrelevant in city driving, all you are doing is dragging more weight around and higher service costs. ...
He kept saying it was quick, but it wasn't quick.
Very nice to see a non hybrid version available, with a real auto transmission. Bloody ugly grill and no spare a big turn-off. I would rather a Mazda CX5 2.5 Turbo in either trim level available. 😊
Mazda cx5 looks like an egg. Its ugly
@@badongtagalog5737
Funny shaped egg ,
lol dont compare mazda cx5 to a lexus
Run flat tyres are horrible and are not worth the issue they solve
Why
Agree I would rather a spare even a space saver. 😉
@@yumistaspot you end up treating it like a normal flat where you really can’t go anywhere except maybe you can baby it home. Would much rather an actual spare that can go the distance and get me wherever. 20 minutes on the side of the road is worth it.
@JeffNuts yep I get that, I have done 27000km on run flats with no issues and understand the limitations being 80km at no more than 80km/h. Mostly City during with adaptive dampers. So I guess it's down to risk vs reward .ie Bigger boot space vs inconvenience if you are unlucky enough to get a flat in the middle of nowhere. I still remember changing a tyre in Penrith when it was 36° and I was wearing thongs. (Not great for kicking the supplied Spanner) and would have been much better of if I could drive even for a little distance without ruining the Rim.🫠
I spy incandescent indicator bulbs in the front...on a 70K Lexus. Wouldn't find that on a BMW or Merc in 2023.
the cheapest x3 sdrive20i is 15k more though for similiar performance with 6 speakers and no heated seats or lumbar support and the new glc costs... 40k more than this lexus
@@JoshuanTruda The new GLC is in no way comparable though. It's in another league. It's just attention to detail that you can expect with the Euro brands, they would never just shove an incandescent bulb on an X3 or GLC. At least you get solid reliability with the Lexus though!
It’s the base model though 😌
@@JoshuanTruda and in less than 3 years, X3 will have rattles and squeaks all over with an occasional Christmas lights display on the dash leaving you stranded

Am I the only one here that hates plastic cladding everywhere on SUVs, it's cheap and nasty
Agree, recent Mazda's e.g CX60 look hideous with all that cheap plastic. The Lexus thankfully doesn't have much
@@mikebedford4362 I think cx 60 is one of the ones without any of that plastic cladding, you might be thinking of the cx 30 it's covered in it.. that or you are just taking the piss 🤣🤣
Sorry, yep, you're right. A typo on my part. @@929cosmodude
It’s pretty fugly, but looks half decent if it’s looked after with a maintenance coating. My big hate is the scratchy black gloss plastic on the door pillars. Looks nice but not practical at all. My CX-5 gets a fail on that.
Looks are a personal thing. The CX5 has hardly changed in over a decade and looks pretty dated, but people buy them.@@aussie8114

Lexus lost its luxury designs, now they look like generic Toyota, the interior is also lacking in "luxury", Hyundai on their elite and highlander models actually offer better luxury than Lexus.
Nah, nice body but that's about it. Nothing else impresses me about this car.

About 30,000 reasons 💰
I am getting around 8.3lt/100km city driving for this base model. That’s way better than my old 2014 RAV4 which uses close to 12lt/100km. On highways, this number drops to around 6lt/100km @110km/h
Selling extremely well, a lot of people I guess don't agree with you,
I got the gas version because it would take me many years to break even with the cost of the hybrid.
