  • My video tribute to this great 'supernatural' musical story. I claim no rights and I ask no money. It's a labour of love by a fan. Hope you like it.

    It's 5 o'clock
    Driving down Park Lane
    As London leaves
    For the weekend again
    Through the dark city streets
    In the clinging rain
    I take my car
    Towards the Thames
    And Waterloo
    Rendezvous 6: 02
    Rendezvous 6: 02
    Was that a face I saw?
    No, just a trick of light
    It's getting clearer now
    But moving out of sight
    It's cold and late
    And I can't miss that train
    I turn around
    Walk through the arch
    Of Waterloo
    Rendezvous 6: 02
    Rendezvous 6: 02
    Rendezvous 6: 02
    Rendezvous 6: 02
    I saw the same hooded face
    He beckoned me from the gate
    Did you not know, my friend?
    Ten years ago was the end
    After the war
    Waterloo was no more
    But your ticket states
    There is one train
    It's leaving now
    And there is a place
    Remember my face
    And Waterloo

    Thank you so much for this.
    The Danger Money album always made me think of lone mercenaries, assassins and the MI agents. The feel of this album, for me, has a temperature, you know, where the metal touches your skin and you cannot tell if it is scalding hot or ice cold. It is pure brilliance and it is timeless.

    You see the band U.K. performing during a TV show (not a real videoclip). I edited out some disturbing parts (mostly shots of bored teenagers in the audience) and also added some pictures in an attempt to enhance the song's story+atmosphere. A great song indeed, TXS for your reply!

    I am seeing such a resurgence of interest in this band, and in others like them- this, is a beautiful thing.
    As a kid, the music of Holdsworth, U.K., Bruford, Weather Report, etc.
    Gave me an alternative to, say, warrant, motley Crüe, and whatever other drivel was shoveled through media.

    It was very sad to hear that John Wetton had passed. Personally, for me
    he was a masterful and innovative musician. He played with many bands,
    Family, Mogul Thrash... but most notably, King Crimson, UK & ASIA.
    To pay proper homage, I posted 5 UK Live tunes. R.I.P. John, you will be
    truly missed.

    I saw this band in Memphis TN Mid South Coliseum in 79-80 They were awesome. The set up was different than many other bands that I had seen at the time. What I mean is they were all at the front of the stage. The keyboardist also played violin and hand keyboards on three sides and many foot pedals. Wetton was in the middle and Bozio on the left side. Bozio used a lot of roto toms not your standards toms. They were impressive. I believe they warmed up for Tull.

    This may have been the one last tunes Wetton used his right hand pn without a pick. Some of the other tracks on "Danger Money" he'd switched over. As a bassist and music journalist (former Assistant Editor for "Bassics," contributor for "Bass Player,") and long-time fan of Wetton, I always admired his bass playing. But when he switched over to a pick on the "Danger Money" album his bass playing became less impressive in my opinion. I don't know if it was for health reasons (i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis or to concentrate more on his vocals -- which I'll always dig). Still, glad to see him still in the game. His work w/ Family on "Fearless," "Bandstand, with King Crimson and on the first UK album (and subsequent bootlegs) will always remain some of my favorites.

    • @GVike
      @GVike 10 років тому +1

      And yet that pick sound ended up being important in Asia if in a simple way. JMHO. : )

    • @robertkaye5434
      @robertkaye5434 10 років тому +1

      It may well have been. I understand he had a serious muscular injury that necessitated him having to switch to a pick. I'm just saying I preferred his bass playing before that event.

    • @Jelperman
      @Jelperman 9 років тому +3

      Robert Kaye
      The carpal tunnel is a fairly recent ailment for Wetton, which is why he used a pick taped to his thumb in the Asia reunion tours. I think he switched to the pick for more tactile control since not only was he playing the bass lines from Danger Money onward, but also using his bass as a kind of substitute rhythm/harmony guitar on Asia songs like Time Again. In solo concerts (before carpal tunnel took hold) he was using both techniques, depending on the song.

    • @icyou4344
      @icyou4344 8 років тому +1

      +Robert Kaye Carpal Tunnel and related disorders are miserable. It really broke down Keith Emerson, too.
      Chris Squire used a pick but then he was like no other.
      Piano/keys player here. I had lots of physical therapy and carpal tunnel surgery eventually. It helped but once nerve damage sets in, it often lingers.
