The version of Loki from Thor is trapped in Loki from the Avengers mind - his own mind. Their conversation in this video is basically Loki arguing with himself in his own head. This all takes place during the events of the Avengers.

It's obvious something really awful happened to Loki between Thor and The Avengers ... a mental and spiritual break of sorts. This video really highlights the sensitive prince compared to the angry and power obsessed Loki he became later.
Loki didn't deserve to be under Thor's shadow. Loki deserved to feel human, he deserved to be told the truth. He shouldn't have been lied to his whole life. This video, shows everything he is. What is going on in his mind.

Lying to Loki about being Asgardian definitely did some serious damage to his world view when he found out the truth. But can we really be sure it was the wrong thing to do?
In an alternate version of events where he knows the truth growing up. We would see a lot darker childhood. I mean how is he supposed to cope with knowing his biological father left him to die and his new family considers his kind monsters? his sense of not being enough for his Father and being in the shade of his brother would only be intensified. Or he wouldn't consider them family . I believe the not measuring up feelings would still be there either way.
I think his adopted family did try to give him a good home. But Loki is well Loki. Odin and Thor are both warriors. They both respect battle strength a lot. ( It's not all they respect but it does play a key role in some of the dynamics) so naturally we would see some favoritism for Thor from Odin. as well as Odin wasn't able to overcome the fact He adopted Loki enough to actually want Loki to succeed him as all father . Enough to love him and want him as another son yes , just not enough to want him to have the first born inheritance. I do believe he tried to not let that show though.
While Queen Freda is a sorceress and Loki is a sorcerer.
It is very clear she taught Loki a lot of what she knows.
All this one on one time where she shows him she loves him and is proud of the new powers he mastered is why he always loved her. He felt accepted unconditionally by her. She probably leaned a little bit towards Loki as her favorite because of sharing powers. but unlike Odin she really did love both of them equally and they knew it. Neither of them doubted her love for them. They understand their relationship with her was different because they were so different.
I know it's been awhile but I'd love comments on this.
What do you think it would look like if Loki knew his true parantage growing up?
I always did think a few of Lokis lines in Avengers were aimed at himself. Especially 'can you wipe out that much red?' It's an interesting and plausible idea that Loki has a dual persona. Makes him very tragic. I hope he will find peace and redemption one of these days....
I doubt it's an actual split personality, but... Change is always incredibly scary, even if you don't like the current situation. Loki "chose" his path - Well, "choose" is rather relative here. More like "stumbled on it at first", but anyway.
The longer he's on the path of a villain, the more you notice he doesn't _quite_ want to. It's especially noticeable now in Ragnarok, but even before, there's often some sort of conflict. Take the scene with Frigga from Dark World. He wants to come to her, he loves her as his mother... But refuses to say so. Because he's the villain, and as a villain he can't act that way, right? Just like how he hides his trashed room. He can't feel sad about it, not on his path.
Even if he wants to leave said path, he's, in the end, just incredibly scared. As a villain, he knows how he needs to act, what to do, how to think. If he stops being the villain, he loses that security, however little that might be.
I don't think he has a double persona Per say. It's just he is the god of lies and mischief. His gift is self knowledge therefore he can lie to anybody but himself

This is absolutely fantastic. The psychology behind the character is very complex but you make it understandable. This shows the conflict between the two worlds of Loki. I simply loved it.

Re watched this after Infinity War. Now it's all the more heartbreaking.
I think this video best portrays what must have been going on in Loki's mind. All this time, it was like he was fighting himself; as if there was just as good a side to him as his brutal one. Initially, I despised him. He may have a seductive nature, but I found his oppressive personality to be anything but appealing regardless of all the fangirls' worship of him. That changed a lot since I saw one of the deleted scenes and especially after watching the second Thor movie. I deeply pity him now. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that he retains his improved attitude. Another Thor movie would probably give us some more insight into that. BTW, great video! Perfectly put together. The part where he said, "Because, I am the monster parents tell their children about at night?" and started tearing up made me emotional. It did not make me cry, but it sure did hit me right in the feels! Keep it up! :D

Can I just say your video is incredibly brilliant? I mean, the idea is so amazing! That relatively unpolluted Loki from Thor still residing deep inside, among all the insanity and pain the Avengers Loki had to endure after Odin's confession, after the fall, and how he knows that he was responsible for it, but still tries to justify his actions because he feels like a monster, and he hates himself for it. I like the way you showed Loki's two sides. So many characters have these types of flaws, and yet movies are limited to how they can show the fight within. You were splendid with the clip choice and showing how part of Loki wanted to become a better man. Or at least that's what I think. Loki reminds me a lot of Gollum. Beautiful job! :)

When Loki (The Avengers) says "well, yes" about that they are the monster that parents tell their children, it's weird because he says it in a disappointing way like he actually feels bad like Loki (Thor) because of what the others think about him and I totally love it!

wow- the ending was especially impacting. The beginning was a nice set-up but the lines especially at the end! And I understand what you mean about Loki lying to himself or being mad at himself about throwing himself over the bridge. And that last part "you think saving yourself will change anything?" was brilliant, I always saw that parallel in his conversation with Black Widow. He's talking about himself there. And lastly "please help!" was really sad!

An impressive idea, and not bad for implementation.
Now it makes me want to see a version using Lokis from more films, but still aiming for this drama. Maybe the helpless despair of Thor 1&2 Loki vs. the madness of Avengers Loki and the future hope but kinda mixed nature of Ragnarok Loki.
