While I have been critical of a few production values in the past this site just keeps getting better and better. Jason does a great job and I always make time to look at the material he posts. Thanks for a well produced and informative program.
The "shoes" news made my day❤😊
So if the numbers of longer/heavier park visitors are so low why did they feel the need to shorten the time period?!? A few hundred campers across an entire state with many thousands of spots wasn't making a significant impact on availability. It sounds more like someone just wants to make rules to seem like they're doing something.
Possibility those few hundred pretty much moved into these parks. With housing being hard to get these days, staying in a park is better than the street.
I was alerted to the Washington State Parks proposed (and now apparent changes) by the Washington State Good Sam organization. I wrote a thoughtful response to the state parks board that was against this change, suggesting that their real issue is punitive cancelation policies and lack of flexible booking and canceling options. In the PNW, so Idaho, Washington, and Oregon state parks have different earliest booking dates. It is 6 months in Oregon and Idaho, 9 months in Washington. Makes booking a multi-state camping trip at one time very difficult. Campsite availability has less to do with long term campers, even the states numbers they present are so low that the change is not going to make any difference for weekenders and summer vacation campers, the issue is the ability to easily change plans and relinquish a site without being penalized. The cost of sites remains low enough that people will just not cancel the reservation if they are not going to get all their money back.
After you talked about all the crazy things happening at Yellowstone, I thought you’d mention how Biscuit Basin exploded today.
@@AnasAdventures111 happened a few hours after I recorded this!
The Michigan flip flop thieves must of been on a working vacation in Mississippi. This past January ,while heading to Florida, I had a flip flop stolen at Clarkco State Park near Quitman Mississippi! I typically leave my flip flops just outside my camper door. Walking out my door to go to my morning shower I discovered one flip flop missing. A search of the area found no trace of the lost flip flop .
As for the Ram 1500 issue? Yup. Mine has done it 4 times to date. Always when taking off after a stop at an intersection. Glad they have decided to recognize there is a problem. I’ll be calling my dealer’s service department tomorrow.
@@majesticoverland It does it with the start/stop disabled. That’s not the problem.
I bought liquified last spring……big difference!!!
Good info! I’m all for hybrids, better mileage is in everyone’s best interests. I’m not ready to go all electric yet. 😂
Totally agree!
Those Foxes are thinking "You RVers have horrible taste in footwear".😂
Watching from the PHILIPPINES where I have yet to see an RV or camper, but a great place to visit or retire to. If I was in the states, I would be rving around the western USA. Thanks.
Thanks so much for being here!
I had some sort of 4 legged critter chew up the wiring harness on the underside of my tow rig. Repair cost was over $5000 to replaced two wiring harnesses and a month in the shop.
The protective wiring loom on wire harnesses of GM and other vehicles has a soy based product in it which attracts marmots, etc.
That is a foxy thief.😂
On the recall front, Ford Super duty trucks with the 7.3 gas engine are due (Sept ???) for a SW update that increases idle oil pressure. In response to lifter lubrication problems . The update is supposed to already be out for the E series (vans and RVs)...
Good to know - since that's my truck...
@@RVMiles yeah, based on your review, we got a 2021 F250 Tremor...
Good job, great information
Thank Jason for all this information. Time will tell with the Escapees and Harvest Host. WOW! With Washington parks you can only stay for 2 weeks. Sad about the turmoil with FMCA. Nice seeing Matt’s Liqufied how they make it. Nice first heavy duty trucks going to get some electric assistants.
Thank you Jason for this news.
Amazing audio considering how windy it was !
Talk about the August 1st change which will make it much more difficult to get dogs from Canada or Mexico into the US. These rules are onerous and absurd. They apply to all persons and their dogs crossing into the US no matter their nationality, including US citizens. Truckers and tourists will likely be surprised, and casual border crossings with canines may become a thing of the past. The fallout from this action will be significant.
Rules were relaxed I heard on the news a few days ago.
Thanks for your information!
My pleasure!
But the Marmots are so cute. I was in Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Forest last Saturday but did not see any.
Turns out my husband and I who use our a four wheel drive vehicle as our camping home on trips are not welcome at Harvest Host . I asked Harvest host they said no .
Note to self- Take a rental car to Mineral King, and don’t forget to buy the insurance pkg!😂
We had heard about the Harvest Hosts and Escapees situation. Time will tell what changes (if any) happen. Always appreciate the information you report here. We are truly grateful for the last bit of news, as we will be the campground hosts at Tahquamenon for the month of August!! 😲😂 Good to know what we are "walking into" LOL! - Jim & Michelle
The cost of HH went too high for us. We really enjoyed several HH stops in the last year, but the price went up considerably and it’s not worth it anymore.
We saw what happened to Campendium when it was sold so who know about Escapees....
True - but I do think they want it to largely remain the same, as there's no money in making it worse. The money is in getting new members in.
Thanks Abby and Jason, always good reporting.
You’re very welcome! -A
LOL! The 🦊 likes 🐊s (crocks) and 🩴s (flops)! 😂
Sounds like Ford might take Mercedes Benz’s lead with a “mild-hybrid”. Our 2020 GLS tow vehicle has a hybrid electric assist that utilizes the electric motor’s high torque to start up from a stop. Also, the electric motors run the various pumps, compressors, etc., and the engine can shut off without killing the AC cooling. Thanks for another rich content video.
Road travelers can stay overnight at any state parks in Washington without a Discover Pass, but it always comes in handy to get one just in case.
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. In less than 2 years, it's been at the shop for a total of 4 months. 2.5 months at one stretch. I had the issue with it shutting down on me. I was inn thee middle of an intersection on a rural road, on a curve. There was absolutely no way to put it in neutral, restart it, etc. I sued Chrysler under the Lemon Law. Just received yet another recall the other day
We love T falls, beautiful in winter
That Marmot news is unbelievable to us…hoping someday when we stay at Sequoia and drive the toad out that we’re not facing the tarp thing. 🤯
So, do “lifetime” Escapees members keep that status?
Nice to see you guys back making "regular" videos again!
I don't think we stopped!
@@RVMiles 🤦♀️ The price I pay when I comment on many videos…that comment was meant for another channel. What I meant to write to you was…Thabks for always keeping us informed. The guidelines seem to change so often I can’t keep up!!
@@summerlivin5487 thanks!
Thanks Jason!
We visited earlier in July in Washington State staying in a private park in Idaho but looking at parks in WA. We had gone through about six years ago and it was great... NOW, the cost has gone up pretty noticeably AND, you are supposed to give them 10 bucks just to drive into any park and get piece of paper saying so. So, you want to just look at camping in a park, ten bucks, drive by and even look at the park, 10 bucks (only slightly exagerating) and although the new rules don't really affect us, sheesh.
A fun ending 😂 damn fox lol
U.S. has just backed off on their extreme import requirements for dogs. Process is now much more simple, but you still need to submit an on-line import permit request and show receipt for same at the border.
Critters especially enjoy wires because many now have soy based insulation to make waste wire less toxic to the environment and easier to recycle.
I am a Boondockers and Escapees member. I was disappointed to learn Escapees is now with Harvest Host. I don’t know what advantage it offers. I guess my voice is too small and I’ll wait and see.
They solved a non-existent problem. Their own data showed that less than 1/3rd of 1% of folks stayed the max of 14 nights and the data didn’t note if that was mostly off-season or at park that wasn’t full anyway. If the park is only 1/2 full it makes zero difference. The Washington Parks Commission was trying to downplay the rate increase by distracting us with a made up issue that they “solved”. If they want to raise revenue charge non-residents more, non-residents only pay an extra $8 per reservation, not per night. While Oregon adds a 25% surcharge on non-residents per night and in Idaho some parks add a 100% surcharge, a non-resident at a popular state park pays $94 a night vs $47 for a resident, an extra $470 for a 10 day stay vs $8 in Washington.
Good informational video. Fox thieves are very sly. 😂😂
They don't charge Hosts anything, so what? Harvest Hosts charges an exorbitant amount to their members maintain a list of places that will allow you to spend the night IF you buy an expected amount from the Host. In my opinion that's the exact opposite of 'moral compass', in my opinion that's a scam.
Harvest Host employee 60 humans to run the companies overhead, could the upfront fees be paying for that?
Not just to hold a list.
But to Feed 60 families and provide a service to 300,000 people?
FMCA or FMCSA? To close! I thought Some Rules coming to RV’s!
Chris Smith was forced out of FMCA.
An event in the PNW, during times of extreme inflation, is problematic. Between high gas prices and the extreme driving distances for most of the membership, and it may explain some of the drop in attendance numbers. Either we drive across the Rockies, or drive through California - neither of which is an optimal choice.
nothing on the biscuit basin explosion???
Happened this morning after we’d recorded this roundup.
We are attending the FMCA Rally-Now you are not reporting this properly 1. The Newmar Rally is the same time in Colorado 2. The fairgrounds only has electric hookups and that is something people aren’t crazy about 3. Oregon is a drive for many -it isn’t like it is in the middle of the country-I don’t think the FMCA numbers on this rally reflect a lack of desire to go -there is a lot of other stuff going on and as I said Oregon is a distance for many -You make it sound like people don’t want to attend and I don’t believe that is the case -🤯
1800 last time FMCA was in Redmond (more than double). Last 3 Gillette Wy conventions: 2018 -1700. 2021 - 1300. 2023 - 900.
@@RVMiles they had 1000 rigs in Tucson in March at Pima County Fair Grounds 🤷♀️
And in 2022 when they were in Tucson it was 1600. They're still great events, but the organization is not doing enough to excite people to attend and attract a new generation of RVers. There are hundreds of thousands more RV owners now than there were 4 years ago - they should be thriving.
Newmar is NOT at the same time. The Newmar rally is July 29- Aug 2.
The FMCA rally starts August 14.
We dumped Harvest Host and this buyout sucks 🤯
Even foxes know flip flops aren’t proper footwear 😅
I will walk before I buy a hybrid vehicle
Like your shirt Jason, is that a new one?
@@clayschumacher2765 it is! REI
@@RVMiles of course
Harvest Host sponsors you? It's no wonder you won't say anything derogatory about them. Their acquisition of Boondocker's Welcome was less than stellar with many unhappy hosts and users. Their purchase of escapees has a lot of members nervous.
I didn’t say anything positive either. That’s not my role here.
FORD.....great..they can't sell what they have now😅
Foxes with a shoe fetish? 😂🤣
👍
Escapees ==> Harvest.....
Campendium ==> Roadtrippers.... desaster?!?
Roadtrippers/Campendium are owned by private equity. I think it's a bit different of a situation. Some people grumble about Boondockers Welcome, but it's largely remained the same, and even improved in some ways, since HH took it over. I think RV Life's acquisition of RV Trip Wizard is another positive example.
@@RVMiles Thx for your response! I hope it's a different of a situation! Took over is always about money.
a conspiracy theorist might say those RAM problems were really Big Brother testing its latest population control technology.
I’d agree but I don’t wanna get arkansided 😅
I just don’t really think Joel has anyone’s best interests in mind. Harvest host “to me” seems to be buying up other companies with great design and based on Harvest Host yearly fees, of course Joel has money to burn. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Fees and membership costs for the consumer will start increasing in the next year and add ons cost will become common.
This is very disappointing news.
$79 a month X 300,000 equals: $23,700,000. Uh no thanks. Not a joiner. I'll pass.
$79 a year.
Make room for the HOMELESS
Not a fan of Harvest Hosts or boondockers welcome, so escapees will not be something I’d be interested in either. I guess the money offered by Harvest Hosts was finally in “alignment” with the Escapee Owners..💰💰💰
Exactly.
1st generation built it 2nd maintained, 3rd sold it. The typical history of a lot of family businesses
@@josepheomelia9951exactly
Why? It seems like a fair deal to me.
@@Erin-Thor I’m glad you think so.
why anyone would buy a Ram is junk, i own one!!!!!
We have a jeep Wrangler and it is not much better. We replaced the engine at 97,000 miles. I’ll never own another Dodge product again.
memberships area a scam!!!!!!!!
Turns out my husband and I who use our a four wheel drive vehicle as our camping home on trips are not welcome at Harvest Host . I asked Harvest host they said no .
Same with Teardrop trailers without a toilet inside. But those who do have this? They are cassette toilets. Virtually the same as my cassette toilet, but I put mine in an outdoor multiuse shower tent. So HH kissed my camping $$ goodbye. It got even worse when hosts started badgering people to purchase something and many who now require it. A really good thing got corporatized. State, regional, county, and National parks, and local fairgrounds, Hipcamp sites, and BLM land give us all we need now.
