I recently finished Starfish and also loved the connection between what she was painting and what happened in the chapters. The description of the art reminded me of Qinni and her art style.

I'm so glad you included No Longer Human on this list. If you're thinking of reading the original/translated version I'd suggest looking up the author's life. No Longer Human was the last book Osamu Dazai published and reflects some portions of his own life. His life story is a bit heavy but I think its worth looking into before reading the book. The jewellery is super cute I would most likely buy 1 of the ones that Chloe has. I just want to know if you can shower with the jewellery because sometimes I forget to take off necklaces when I’m about to shower and I say “oops” after I’ve showered. Then if it’s a necklace that tarnishes then it oxidised because I forgot to take it off.
I read Uzumaki and fell in love with Junji Ito! I read Tomie too. I didn’t find them scary just incredibly disturbing and I can’t stop thinking about Uzumaki! It is my favorite Manga at the moment!

I love this! I ordered Bunny just now. There is a book I saw on Amazon, YA, that I thought I saved to my list but I can't find it. The plot was basically there are three princes who compete in a tournament for the crown, and every time, one girl gets sacrificed as the end challenge. I vaguely remember from the book description that a girl in a higher class saves the girl and then becomes the target herself, and she has to try to save herself. Does anyone know the name of this book?!
I want to get into manga so this year I'm starting with the Attack on Titan series cuz I love that anime and Jinji Ito cuz you talk about his work so often lol. Thanks for the recommendation Chloe!!!!
i loved my dark vanessa, such a good book! it was very, very hard to read due to its themes. i also didn't own it physically and was listening to the audiobook, the narrator was amazing but it only made it harder to read because i just wanted to pull vanessa out of the story and help her.. such a good book
