    If you really bond with a guitar, that plays great, is well intonated, with good pickups (this can be a 500 bucks guitar), EVERYTHING is in the amp
    When I started guitar in 1989 I had a relatively simple but effective Stratocaster Korean copy (Hohner St Lead) I payed a 150€ used, and I loved it. I had a really crappy (really) very cheap transistor amp. I just played the hell out of it and worked ly Hendrix chops for hours.
    The day I plugged it in a Red Knob Fender Twin Reverb my life changed 😂
    The amp is THE element you must invest in the first place after getting a decent guitar.
    A modest but decent guitar will sound killer in a great amp. In the other way it's another story
    Many tend to overlook this

    Supro is the most practical. For home amp we usually need master volume and reverb, so it can be simple plug and play bedroom amp. Vibro champ is great for studio.

    I actually went with a 12" 15 watt Delta King. It really isn't that much bigger than the 5 watt, and can still be as good sounding at low volumes, but can definitely roar a little more. Supro, definitely sounds better than above. Also makes an EXCELLENT pedal platform.

    I have the Supro DK 10 5w. It is a great small amp. Two separate controls for gain and master volume and two controls for tone, plus two channels each for boost and drive make this a very versatile amp. Easy to dial in both clean and crunch tones and takes pedals well to create a surprisingly good lead sound for home play and smaller venues. The 10” speaker also gives it that much more clarity and headroom than an 8” with all other specs remaining the same. I do wish it had a default option for both effects loop and a two-port connection for larger speaker cabs (it can however be run into other amps through a single port effectively turning it into a versatile 4-ish channel pre-amp). Those can be modified through a tech. Also worth noting that the package doesn’t come with a switching pedal so you either have to switch by hand or buy a separate pedal. But those are small trade offs for a self-contained amp at an extremely reasonable price.

      @mickeybravo6702 Рік тому

      @neonthunderbirdunfortunately I didn’t have access to the 12 inch option, just the ten. But having tried a couple other combo amps at that size, I found for me the 10” was just about right for home and small venue playing. I’d imagine if playing anything above a small church or coffee shop/small bar type venue you would want a 12” if going with this particular amp family. Conversely for me at least living in a duplex and even setting up sound absorbing panels even the 10” can be too loud on medium or high preamp gain and high power amp settings so a 12” would be even more so. And this is definitely an amp that sounds good on the edge of breakup up to full overdrive particularly over driving the power amp.

    I bought the Supro for harp. It was originally bought as a backup and practice amp. It has since become my go to gigging amp. The guitarist in our band plugged in his Tele and Les Paul it sounded amazing. His comment was it’s to good an amplifier for a harmonica player😂😂😂

      @@ivanramirezacuayte9130 for a small 5 watt amp they are ok but you can’t push it or it will break up. Like pretty much all 5 watt amps of this type. You can mic them up though if you need the volume

      @@ivanramirezacuayte9130 ok cleans. Having a master volume allows a lot of control for a small amp. For guitar I set mine up so it’s clean with the volume on the guitar at about 6 and breaking up when pushed harder. If I use this at a gig I mic it and let the front of house manage the levels. For harmonica I want the breakup. Is there to be fat. If I want clean I run through the PA
      Hope that helps

      you mean very small amp with disproportionately huge price tag, also 2 of these are out of stock on the links above and on amazon are hideously over priced, the supro is around £650 which is about $800!!!!!! on amazon, also i'm obviously way of touch but when i saw 5w i was thinking 50 bucks lol

    • @7171jay
      @7171jay Рік тому +1

      If you think $50 price tag when you see 5 watt tube amps mentioned you really don't understand amps. About the cheapest 5 watt tube amp around is the Monoprice and it's $150 China built budget bargain. Hand-built amps with high end components made in countries with high labor costs can cost over $1000. Small tube amps are not just more expensive than someone not knowledgeable about them might think but also a lot louder. They can help with getting somewhat lower volume sounds but are definitely far from quiet if turned up to the point that you are actually working the amp.

    The gain and the boost are absolutely not tube on the Supro. But what people won't know won't hurt them!
    The clean Supro sounds fine. Very warm. Unfortunately this makes me think that you need to play different things on the Fender because it's so widely appreciated.

      This is an opinion. If everybody agreed with me there wouldn't be many others being made. I like the boxy sound of a small tube amp like the Stage Right by Monoprice. There are many videos of them. No reverb. Putting a tube screamer type pedal in front of it for overdrive sounds is really pleasurable for me.
      It reminds me of my Fender Vibro Champ that I sold long ago. The Fender Pro Junior is too loud for me, but I like its sound too. Another that I would consider owning is the Joyo Sweet Baby. It doesn't even have a tone control, just volume. They cost $250 or more these days.@@ecstrat1966
