loved this! i love seeing how you guys just have your tics and continue. one of the worst parts for me is whenever i have my tics i have to apologize after each one and explain myself, even if it's with people who have known i tic my whole life. i wish people would just ignore my tics and move on. it's so nice to hear both of your experiences. loved the video! will check out her channel too!

I love, love, love you both! Thank you for doing your videos. Others need to understand what it's like to have Tourette's. They need to know the real people who have it. But also for giving hope to other children, teens, and adults that they aren't alone. Your videos on UA-cam are all that is right about the internet, when the world wide web finally gets it right! Please don't stop sharing your stories!

You two did an AWESOME job on the video! I think it's so funny how the tics seem to be contagious, I even had more tics when you both has tics haha. I don't think I would want the cure either but maybe the ability to hold them in easier when I needed to. Have you met many others with tourettes bc I have never really had a conversation with someone who actually has TS like us?

This answer is for +Melissa Martin but it is also to clarify and expand on my response to Mellissa C's question about whether I would give up my Tourettes, if given the chance. My answer to this question was "No" I will answer this in a moment, first though, Hi Everyone! I am Pyra, and its nice making your acquaintances. I forgot to send Mellissa C the link to the original person who's quote I meant to use so here it is for everyones benefit: ua-cam.com/video/_lxYkdj7gu0/v-deo.html
the original is from this site which is an inspired "build your own" Tourettes Syndrome documentary www.atrandom.ca/ a collection of movie featurettes ranging from 5 minutes to 20 minutes in length that play in random order, random, like Tourettes Syndrome.
First off, there are a couple things that this Jeff Goldberg said that I was quite inspired by, he said that Tourettes is a gift and an incredible opportunity. I have always loved the image of the lotus flower that sits in tropical muck for years and years before emerging from the muck as a seriously beautiful flower that is used as a symbol of resilience and strength all over the world. This image also relates to an idea my mom shared with me about my "self" my true essence being hidden deep within layers on layers of dark, rough, plain, stressed and dirty curtains that is all the neurological baggage surrounding me, and others too who deal with any form of hardship. When I've thought about this concept in recent years and I've realized all the things that I've learned over the past many years, empathy, meditation, self awareness, resilience, study, creativity and a million more things I cherish and are part of having Tourettes Syndrome. Like Jeff said, "if it where not for this condition, I would not be me." This is what struck me the most and it gets all psychological and existential, if you don't know what those words mean :) look them up. I would not know who I am, without Tourettes Syndrome that is scarier than all the darkness and trauma and anxiety it could ever cause.
Secondly goes back to the curtains metaphor: to all the people, including myself.. if there is "baggage" and a feeling of being buried beneath layers of chaos think about this for a moment: that chaos or baggage hides and blocks out the heart that exists below the surface and the fact that beautiful human traits still shine through all that turmoil, (and we all have them, those beautiful human traits) the heart below turmoil has to be quite bright and powerful because it has to shine brightly enough through the curtains of turmoil. I see opportunities for good things everywhere all the time, things like tolerance and love and I also would feel lost without the constant push that Ts causes because it fuels the need to keep learning and growing, so the more insanity there is, the more opportunity to create amazing things and the more opportunity to help others there could be as well and that is not something I would ever willingly give up on.
I hope that answers the question. Feel free to ask more.
    ~Pyra

Random question, were you two vaccinated as children? And how many flu shots have you gotten? Question from a genuinely concerned and anxious person who just experienced full body muscle contraction and shaking so severe i was literally vibrating at one point. It lasted about 3 to 4 minutes. And i had to crawl into a ball to to will myself to stop. Tried sitting. Which i think helped. But all my back muscles and leg muscles were contracting. And i couldn't stop it. It was so scary. I thought i was going to die. Felt as if my heart was giving out. But my friend tells me its an anxiety disorder. And he used to have a similar thing. Both our vaccine schedules were the same pretty much. And so was his sisters and they also suffer from varying degrees of panic attacks. I was wondering if it might have something to do with the mercury and other heavy metals that are found in vaccines. I wonder if there's any correlation.

I'd get rid of my tics in a heartbeat. Mine give me bad chronic pain and I'm fighting to maintain my sanity/mobility at the moment. Neuro appt in August after a 1 year wait.

You guys are a lot alike, you're both weird, in the best way possible :) I think it's interesting to me that I would say no to "would you choose to never having had your disorder", but not to "would you want to not have your disorder right now", because you want to be healthy, right? Just interesting to me that somebody would not want it to go away.

Empress Pyra wrote a response to this questions in the comments but not as a reply to you so maybe that would interest you.
I think when we get so used to having this condition every day of our lives for the past who knows how long we begin to identify with it and it shapes the people we are. With Tourette, we need to learn to live with it and we learn a lot about ourselves and about how to deal with adversity and without TS we wouldn't have become the people we are today. It's not about thanking the condition but thanking the place its taken us in our lives.
If I could get rid of my severe tic attacks that can look like a seizure...I would. They destroy some of my options in life and I would take the cure, but I'm not sure if I would take away my regular tics, even though they can be embarrassing. I might chose to have them less severe than they can get sometimes but I would still keep them as they are as someone else has said...a constant companion and wouldn't know what or who I am without that companion.

Thank you for the reply back, i really appreciate it. That actually makes a lot of sense and to be honest, more credit to you as that would take so much strength and courage all at the same time. I dont understand to the point of having TS, as i dont have that. I do suffer from sever depression, PTSD and so on. I have had it for so long now that to not have it would be extremely weird and strange. I thinks its nade me as a person and given me many different strengths over the years.
I really admire who you are and how far you have come.

Because drinking sea water can make a person temporarily delusional. I compared myself to that in the sense that I felt I was crazy, but the good kind of crazy. A bit of a funny personality. So I would say that I drank the sea water to get this way.

I guess that depends on if our real selves are with or without TS. If someone feels their real self has TS then they are keeping their real selves
