So many butthurt people looking to slate Neck Deep... Do none of you actually see what they've done for the UK Pop Punk scene over the last 2 years? Be happy they're putting Pop Punk back on the map man. Sick drumming if you ask me.
its rlrlbbbb 2x or rlrl with 16th notes on the bass drum i think. right hand played on the snare an the floor tom and the left hand on the high tom twice, not sure can't see the feet. followed by to hits on the hihat and snare and a roll on the snare and floor tom
I notated it best on comments I can do is this k=kick s=snare r=rack Tom f=floor Tom | 1e+a 2e+a 3e+a kkkk | | srfr kksr frkk srkk | the rest is simple
I know someone is going to be annoyed by what i am going to say but, wathever. I think Dani could be the next generation's Travis Barker. I mean, this pop punk generation, do you know what i mean?
+Jeremias Gomez Maybe. It's hard to be as inventive as Travis was without doing the same (mixing hip-hop, jazz and latin with punk). Dani's drumming is indeed very ear-grabbing but I don't believe he is bringing anything new to the table (with maybe the exception of the double bass drumming?)
Aaron Mercer Don't agree on that one. He might be on a record but it sounds like all the drumming on Wishful Thinking is quantized and processed alot afterwards which I don't think Travis ever does.
+Aaron Mercer i think its hard to compare travis barker to others playing live. Considering ever after 30 mins of live playing the amount of energy he gives is still 100%
Konzaii I agree that the beats and fills are unimaginative but at least they fit the songs well. Pop-punk drumming is usually very simplistic, with minimal focus on dynamics and groove with loud playing and excessive fills being more emphasized instead. I get entirely where you're coming from, though.
that opening fill
Dani's drum tech must be so thankful for the minimal set up :) on other note, Dani is a great drummer and a really nice dude! Love watching him play
Just clean and solid playing. Catchy straight forward beats, love this style. As a drummer, I feel this in my soul!!!
Dani has such great energy, gotta love it
to this day still one of my favorite videos on all of youtube.

Agreed! Def sick drumming. I'm a drummer myself and love watching Dani Washington.
Marc Freeman exactly, look at where ND are now
His style is more befitting of a metal/hardcore band, which I think is awesome.
He wanted to be in a hardcore band before Neck Deep
He actually WAS in a hardcore band, and it shows!
For real, dude's a beast
That he is! :)
Well I mean they're pretty heavy for a pop punk band.
I just met this guy yesterday, nice dude.
Him and Torf are some of the best drummers in this whole scene.
Dani is an amazing drummer.
One of the best of all times! Love ya Dani! :D
dani is such a great dude too
I wish this whole set had the lighting of 6:09, shit looked so dope

I think he's a heck of a lot smoother than Travis. Just and opinion though.
Aaron Mercer Don't agree on that one. He might be on a record but it sounds like all the drumming on Wishful Thinking is quantized and processed alot afterwards which I don't think Travis ever does.
+eedfeldt4u I was talking live, not record wise. But its all a matter of opinion when you get to this level of drummers.

Is it just me or does he hit really fucking hard? His poor fucking drum set lol.
Anyone that thinks this is actually decent drumming is fucking delirious.
Please elaborate. I get that this sort of over caffeinated, double-bass heavy drumming may not be for everyone. But how is not "decent"?
Charlie's Drum Corner It's basically the lowest common denominator beat in double time with poorly placed, unimaginative quads around the kit.
Konzaii I agree that the beats and fills are unimaginative but at least they fit the songs well. Pop-punk drumming is usually very simplistic, with minimal focus on dynamics and groove with loud playing and excessive fills being more emphasized instead. I get entirely where you're coming from, though.
Charlie's Drum Corner I mean I guess it's appropriate, it's just boring. Doesn't seem worth a drum cam medley.
Konzaii talkin shit? you must be jealous of somthing
Absolutely SICK drummer. So fucking good!

Cymbal sizes?
to me it looks like 14 hats maybe an 18 inch crash and 20 in ride
14" hats, 19" offhand crash, and 20" main crash
I watched a video it's a 21 crash ride on the right and a 20 rezo crash and 14 new beat hats I think
+Ben Sullivan he uses
14" A custom hats
18" A medium thin crash
20 A custom ride
(Just found a video on it that had all of the models and sizes!)
i was right! ;)
