- Leave a comment if you see your model! Coverage of the 1300+ entries in the NNL West 2025 show. Sadly, on the 40th anniversary of this great scale auto show, it is the final one...
Attendance was great so I tried to film while avoiding disturbing anyone; I did the best I could to capture all entries. To my knowledge, unlike an IPMS model show, there are no specific categories or judging, although themes this year included Hot Rods and Long Roofs.

I had such a great time at this event, I wish I had more time and energy to put into a long voiceover. I felt like I was running around non-stop between filming, taking photos, and talking to tons of people. Everyone I met for the first time treated me like an old friend; we are so lucky to have a thriving hobby full of kind and genuine people. Days like this will be some of my favorite memories for years to come. I truly hope this show will be revived some day in any fashion, even under a new name. It's a great event.
Thanks for doing this for those of us who can't go.
@@BronzeGiant thanks for checking it out, glad you enjoyed and got to feel like you were there!
Amazing video and mostly THANK YOU for not going too fast ! Other people move so fast that the camera dont have enough time to focus and you have to paused all the time to see each models ! 👍🥰
Thanks for checking it out and providing that feedback. I have been trying to improve my filming at shows, taking that extra second or two on each model to give each one its time in the spotlight. I'm glad to know the effort is coming through on the other end of the screen.
Fantastic coverage! l watched every second. Haven't built a styrene model for 61 years & must say l am staggered by the build quality, especially the paint work! 😳 Many Thanks! 👍
There's never been a better time to get back into the hobby! New kits are excellent quality and very detailed, tons of excellent paint and tools out there, and new technology like 3D printing is making the hobby even more sustainable than ever. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for your time and allowing us that could not attend the opportunity to experience the show… much appreciated build on 👍
Thanks for checking it out. That's why I do it, I want to afford others the opportunity to feel like they are there, much the same way I do when I watch other people's videos of shows from around the country and world. Always fun to see what's going on in other places, and it helps promote the shows for the future.
Oh wow, there were some amazing builds right there! Awesome customs too and also beautiful paint jobs. Thanks for sharing with us all 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching Karl, glad you enjoyed it. The level of skill on display was overwhelming, so much stuff on the tables that I looked at, jaw dropped, thinking "how????"
Great video and farewell to the NNL at Santa Clara, I really enjoyed your video and appreciated the fact that you pause on each car for a while, I was able to take in each model and get a good look at it. Good job and have a great year!
Thanks for watching and your feedback. I have been trying to take that extra second or two on each model and I'm glad to know it's paying off with adding to people's enjoyment of the video.
Many thanks for posting this. I was 45 minutes north of my home when I realized I did not have my camera with me. At about :44 seconds into your video is my reimagined Baja Beast, with a turbo Porsche 911 engine and wheels, seats, etc. At 18:05 is my repainted Matchbox 944. At 18:07 is my modified Hot Wheels 911. At 18:12 is my Fujimi 356 Carrera. I spaced out and said it was a Revell kit. Duh. I did have my cell phone with me, so I was able to post a few photos onto my FB page. Thanks, again!
Thanks for checking out the video and glad you had fun at the show! I loved your 356, it's one of my favorite cars and the color choice and paint job execution were excellent. Spent a good amount of time looking that build over.
You got that video up quick! It was great hanging out, thanks for sharing the video 👍
Had a great time meeting you and getting to chat for a while, it was a pleasure. Already got the shop card at my workbench! Hope you enjoy the parts and find a use for them some day, and looking forward to seeing what you do with the speeder bike project as well.
@@scaleffectyes! Thank you again! I put them straight into the box to keep them safe. I’ll get to a stash add video from the show one day and make sure to show them off! Thanks again 👍
What a great event awesome bills on the table thank you so much for sharing the great video
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it
Wow! Great coverage of the show, I see my 70 Wildcat, 62 Dart and 66 Elco at 1:10:57 and my 60 Nomad wagon at 1:13:33. Thank you!
You have stunning paint jobs man! I remember looking at your Nomad early on in the day and I was just blown away by the finish. Thanks for checking out the video, glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for filming the show! This is the best coverage of any show I’ve seen! It was great for viewers to see each car as you paused for a second or 2 so we could get a good look at each model. Great job! Every show should be filmed this way! My models are at 140:22 , the ‘49 Merc woody to the garbage truck converted to a flatbed. I hope you film more shows on the tube!I l last attended the NNL WEST in 2014. I always bought Roy Sorensen’s Magcloud issue of this show. He said he’s not publishing this show. Darn! It’s very sad this is the last one! It was well worth the trip from Canada!
You had some great builds out there! Thanks for checking it out and for the feedback. I've been trying to slow down that extra second or two when filming shows and I'm glad to know it's paying off with the viewer experience being better. I plan to continue filming future shows I go to and you can always check out the prior ones I've been to on my channel. Thanks again for watching and making the trip down from Canada, sounds like it was worth the trip for this one!
Man what an awesome video, my friend!! Just so many incredible builds. Thank you so much for taking the time to bring us through and show them all off.
Wish you could have made it somehow Kyle, would have been fun to geek out on all the open wheelers with you during the show. IPMS Nationals are in Indiana in 2026 I think, maybe we could make something happen... Thanks for checking it out man!
@@scaleffect they sure had some really incredible race car builds there. I absolutely wish I could’ve made it to one. I have heard the same thing about Nationals and I’m already excited about it. I wanted to go last year as it wasn’t TOO far from me but work got in the way. Would be awesome to meet in person sometime.
Thanks for the coverage, speaks a lot for the scale of the show that the video is close to two hours long! I was there all day and i still noticed cars I missed.
My builds can be seen at 54:18 ( I must have been having my 56 chevy photographed at that time)
along with my little hot rod at 1:51
Probably was getting it's glamour shots done, I thought about trying to remember where there were slips with no models to go back later but I not only ran out of time, I never could have remembered them all unfortunately. Awesome to see your builds again, that taco truck is soooo cool man, and you know I love your Chevy with the surfboard on top (sorry it happened to get left out, but I got another photo of it!). Sorry we missed connecting again, we gotta plan better next show to try and link up.
Thanks Rex for the fabulous video giving me the opportunity to see all the amazing models I missed seeing by not attending. It was almost as good as being there except not having the comradery of the other attendees and of course not getting to shop the swap meet. I was especially impressed with the many incredible lowrider paint jobs. Apparently many were done by young people who hopefully will keep the hobby going and maybe even NNL West !!
Thanks for checking out the video. I love comments like this because the video is a way for me to share the show experience with others who can't make it. I'm glad it seems it did just that for you.
Great work capturing the builds at this final event, sir! It was great to see you and all the other builders I've found on UA-cam and Instagram. Looking forward to catching up and seeing people's work at future events here on the west coast.
My Del Rio wagon showed up at the 7:16 mark, and my other builds are featured from 24:22 to 24:39. Thanks for providing all of this footage!
Great to see you again Ajax! Sorry I had to pass on lunch with you and BG, regretting that, but as you can see from the video length I had my work cut out for me lol. I NEEEEED some videos on your AE86 and FD man!! Those were so cool, glad I got to check them out in person
Alot Of Great Builds. Thank You For Sharing Your Video. Great Show!
Thanks for checking it out, glad you liked it
Thanks for the video and yes my 6 builds are at time 1:30.12 to 1:30.33 and I also had a 1957 Ranch Wagon Del Rio Pro Street build at the Long Roof theme table. Awesome show and turn out.
You had some outstanding builds out there! Thanks for checking out the video and glad you had a good time at the show
Thank you for showing glad I met you you are a awesome individual build some amazing models.
The pleasure was all mine Leon, it was awesome to meet you and see all of your talent and unique models. Keep doing what you are doing man, I love seeing your Bay Area take on all your builds, makes me feel like I'm back home. Hope to see you again soon my man!
Great coverage of the show! Sad to see it go away. Thanks for sharing bud
Thanks for checking it out buddy, glad you enjoyed it! I am hopeful the show might return in a few years under new leadership, even if it has to move elsewhere in California. We'll see what happens, but the few times I've been able to go it's been an awesome event.
Great video mine are at 42:31 the crashed helicopter diorama and a few cars, it was good to be there and see all the other displays.
You had some cool stuff out there! Thanks for checking it out, glad you had a fun time at the show.
Always good to see your builds! You know I love your Porsche build! Thank for the exposure. 53:14
Great to see you again! Sorry we didn't get any time to catch up, but thoroughly enjoyed your builds, especially that crazy taxi
@@scaleffectit was crazy packed for the last alleged event. Every time I made a round the tables, I would see something new. I guess that’s what happens when there’s 1,300+ entered and 150+ just for display. I’m shocked at the reactions I’ve been getting from the cab.
Very cool video!
I didn’t get to attend, but I got to see my builds on the table like I was there walking through. Thanks for sharing.
1:21:03 to 1:21:13
Thanks for checking out the video and glad you got the "almost" experience! Loved your 32 Ford hot rod, beautiful color and that engine detail was outstanding.
@ thank you 🙏
Awesome video. I like the way you paused on each model, Way Cool and Beautiful Builds. Thanks for sharing.👍👍
Thanks for the feedback, I've been trying to improve my coverage by pausing an extra second or two on each model, so I'm glad people are liking that.
So many new ideas! Great coverage my friend!
Thanks for checking it out Joe glad you got some inspiration from it!
Very professional thanks for the reply!
10:21 my junkyard and 11:12-14:10 are all mine, thank you for filming them
You brought out a ton of great stuff! I really liked your junkyard scene; so often I see them done where every car has the same amount of rust and weathering, but yours looks like each individual car has a story behind how it ended up there at different points in time. Really well done man
@@scaleffect Yeah, all of them besides the vega and studebaker, weren't suposed to be rusty, but I either got a run or had a reaction between the primer and top coat. So I painted and aged them to be rusty, and slowly over time like in real junkyards I've been robbing parts off them
Great coverage! Your cars look amazing especially the Mustang and Corvettes! Sorry I didn’t meet you this time.
Thank you I appreciate that. Hopefully we can connect at a future model car show somewhere in California, would be great to put a face to the channel!
Awesome coverage! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for checking it out, appreciate it
Thanks for filming this great event ! I'm honored to be in your video...............Dennis ( The GTO guy ) lol
Thanks for checking it out and great GTO again!
My model club's group build is at 33:15, great to see all of these amazing models. Nice video too!
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it! Your whole club had some excellent stuff out there, I really enjoyed looking over that whole section.
AWESOME VIDEO!!!!!THANK YOU
Thanks for checking it out, glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video, very well done, thank you for making it. 1:18:17 - 1:18:34 are my builds, my aqua ‘64 was not present at the moment. I can’t believe this is the final nnl west😭
Thanks for checking it out and great builds, I really liked your dark colored Chevy on the gold wheel!
My revell 54 Chevy 210, thank you sr. That one was a fun build, I had to make a pair of skirts for it & a custom muffler/exhaust pipe for the inline 6 as it came with I think a 409 v8.
1:40 and my dad's at 1:46
Again at 1:12:28 , although my Mercedes was missing because it was over at the AutoModeler Magazine photo booth and my dad's other 4 builds at 1:12:34
Thanks and your coverage is so thorough it's crazy. Can't wait until the next show as always, see you there!
Definitely missed a few entries as people were getting their beauty shots done. Great to see you guys again and always a pleasure getting to see your Honda and Porsche. Until next time!
Nice Video I was at the 39th NNL West and sorry to see it go there was only about 400 models on display last year
Thanks for checking out the video glad you enjoyed it. I don't recall the count from last year, I'd have to go back and watch the video I made from the 39th, but I thought it was more than 400. It's been a whole year though so I don't remember exactly.
@ take away the display only models there wasn’t crap there
Awesome video!! ✌️😁
Thanks for checking it out my friend, I appreciate you!
Awsome show. Lots of cool builds.
Too many cool builds! It was impossible to check them all out up close in one day. Thanks for checking it out Mars, appreciate you pal.
@scaleffect
I really wanted to go, but you know, work, life, things always get in the way..
I guess Pomona will be whats left for us here in Cali.
Saw my car at 1:36: 19 Thank you so much!
You had a lot of great stuff out there!
Wow wish there was something like this where I live.
There might be one closer than you think, there are NNL events all around the US, maybe in other countries too I'm not sure. A lot of real car shows will have model car shows alongside them as well. And if all else fails, you can always try to find a local IPMS show with all sorts of models, not just cars.
Great video coverage thanks for featuring my models It starts at 41:49 and runs thru 42:17. Sad at the "passing" of a great event, here's to hoping someone picks it up in the future.
Thanks for checking it out and you had some excellent builds out there. I love NASCAR so very cool to see some representation, the #1 Coke car was one of my favorites of the whole show
Just found and subscribed to your channel. Mine are shown from 2:43 to 3:12, and from 4:28 to 5:15.
You had some outstanding builds on the table! I especially liked your Skyline, Datsun, and Civic, I like JDM cars a lot I just haven't worked up the courage to try building any yet. You hot rod pickup Ford pickup truck was really slick too. Thanks for checking out the video and pointing out your models!
Nice j9b thanks
Thanks for watching
Starting @22:30 the orange 33 Ford as stated was built by the late Steve Travis and I'm so honored to be the caretaker of it.
The black VW (type 82)and the Humvee were kits I built.
Both are Tamiya kits in 1/48. The Humvee I built OOB for a facebook Gulf War group build like 10yrs ago.
The VW can either be built as a type 82 staff car or as a civilian car. I have built both and they are very simple builds.
Very special to bring that to display, I really enjoyed checking out Steve's ford as well as your builds. The Humvee was especially cool to see. Looks like you traveled all the way from Texas! Hope you have a smooth and safe trip home.
Yooo! Those are my cars that start at 59:50
Matt you had one of my favorite sections of the whole show with all your race cars man! That's the type of stuff I want to get to doing. Do you have an Instagram or anything I can follow you on?
why did they stop with this after 40 years. That's real sad.
@@LSCModels the venue is getting very expensive, especially after the San Francisco 49ers built their new stadium across the street, and after 40 years the organizers are retiring from doing the event. A new group could take it over, but aside from unverified rumors I'm not sure if it's going to happen any time soon.
