Here is the video with generation loss. For some reason, it's still 30fps. I have no idea why, but it's still cool to see ua-cam.com/video/so_paan-Xo4/v-deo.html
All the warbly colors in the main phase are kinda awesome. It's like Giygas is struggling to even be contained inside the TV. I also never noticed the scanline effect at the end before. He's not just the battle background anymore, he's possessed your TV.
That's a really great way of putting it. I never thought of him as possessing your TV, but that is exactly what he's doing. The fact that the player prays to help stop Giygas adds up to it.
I'd like to think the static effect is caused by Giygas' power affecting their vision because they're not really in person. They're robots at this point. But I can see how his evil influence could affect your TV.
I always felt bad for Giygas, but something that always freaked me out is how he turned from a noodle-like cat alien into a screaming mass of red faces...did he *physically* tear himself apart with his own power
He started to lose all memory of who he was. In the battle, though, he was saying, "It hurts Ness." Probably feeling awful for killing his adoptive parents
@@BlueStinger475 I don't think there's anything stating he killed Maria and George; iirc the latter was kicked off the ship because he was studying PSI without his race's permission
After listening to this with AirPods, I dont think I heard the heartbeat sound while the devil machine warmed up when you first approach it. Goddamn, this game was REALLY freaky at times.
To anyone watching, I still have this gameplay footage recorded onto DVD. I have no idea why MakeMKV converted it to 30fps. I will re-upload the same video since you all want it, and I'll add some generation loss. I hope my AV2HDMI doesn't screw up with the blue screen during the recording.
dude if this is an actual vhs recording, you gotta get more tapes and copy this footage so that you got like 8 tapes of this same gameplay, each with worse generation loss than the last, then edit all of those together into a Giygas boss edit where everytime you progress to the next phase of the fight, the generation loss in the vhs intensifies so by the end of the fight, the entire screen looks like its basically some straight up analog horror. mixed with the music, sounds and visuals of final-phase Giygas, im sure it would create an insanely unsettling effect and probably go viral
Trust me, I wanted to do that. I just didn't have any extra VHS I could use at the time. The next time I play Mother 2, I will give it that amazing generation loss. Seeing it now, I know it could have been much cooler.
I really HATE this boss and yes the FINAL boss uses a FF games Bad breath skill where as in this game it can cause EVERY STATUS ailment INCLUDING KILLING the ENTIRE party (instant death effect) instantly and even the 1 spell that is supposed to make instant kill moves NEVER work won't ACTUALLY work HERE at all.
Its not a skill issue the boss can't really HURT you OTHER then using that FULL party status effect move which STILL WORKS even with the SPELLS that are supposed to null ALL of its effects.
It was an actual VHS. I only recorded it 1 time over, so it doesn't have that creepy analog effect. Maybe 5 I replay the game, I'll give it the analog horror effect eith real VHSs. I'll record it 5 times over

@@BlueStinger475 this is great
Really damn cool, Love Earthbound, and the VHS recording really fits the mood of the Final Battle, Instant sub.
Thanks. I love it, too. I had a blast playing it again!
why was the early praying that made everyone including giygas fall asleep funny
I dunno but that almost screwed me over 😭

@redacculous I still need to play the original for myself sometime. I've played Mother 2 and Mother 3, but never Mother

TOP 5 FINAL BOSSES OF ALL TIME
This is so good. It feels like it looks as the devlopers intended it to look on the Screen. It translates really well!
And then, our scary boss has joined mugen for The_None creations

This is sick!!
Anyone here still think Gigyas is one of the most terrifying bosses?
I love this
I love this video record style, i wish if you can setings to 60FPS, just like in real life when you play in room
I wanted to, but when converting it to DVD, it changed it to 30. Maybe when I replay the game again, I'll re-upload it in 60fps

bonus points if you make it so that the generation loss of the vhs goes away after Ness and the gang wake up after defeating Giygas

W video!
ig u should play Zelda as well :)
I need to buy another Famicom AC adapter. I gotta play Zelda on my FDS again.
Holy shit, robot Paula has a ribbon?
Yes. I am playing a Rom Hack called MaternalBound Redux. It is a really good Rom Hack. I definitely recommend it.

Next time, make it downloadable as interlaced video(MPEG2 or DV)
I'm not sure how to do that.
@@BlueStinger475 I've read that H.264 can also be interlaced

It actually was recorded in 60fps. I guess when converting it to DVD, it went to 29.59fps

Can you remaster it then
@@novostranger I would have to redo the whole game. I lost my save file because my USB got corrupted.
