The Power of "VOO": Vagus Nerve Exercise for Overwhelm

Polyvagal Theory states the vagus nerve mediates our freeze response. In this video, I share some info on the vagus nerve and the role it plays in our felt sense of safety.
I also teach a simple exercise that uses your voice to stimulate your vagus nerve. By exhaling the word "voo," you can stimulate the vagus nerve, which can help you feel safer, more alive, present, and energized.

I'm currently using a blood sugar monitor. I was getting a big spike this morning. I had an idea that some of my blood sugar spike is due to anxiety.
Then I remembered your Voo video I'd seen a few weeks ago. I did a minutes vooing and by magic my levels shot back down again within 2 minutes!

My understanding is that "om" and "voo" are similar, but "voo" is a lower tone/deeper vibration in the body that can possibly create vibration lower in the viscera.
Thank you. Can I ask why I started yawning and release of tears (not crying) after a few rounds of the "voooo". ?
Yes of course! Yawning is typically a sign that you are moving from a Sympathetic (action-oriented) to Parasympathetic (rest+digest) state in the nervous system. Tears releasing/eyes watering usually represents a small discharge/release of emotion/energy. This all makes sense because "Voo" vibrates the viscera and can help move emotional energy out of the gut so that it can discharge in some way.

It's important to pause after every round of "voo" to see what effect it is having on your nervous system. If it feels like it's helping you, you can continue to do it. My training is to bring a "less is more" approach, though, so just be mindful of how your nervous system and belly continue to respond as you play around with the sound.
My cat looks very anxious when i did vooooo. Her tail thick and her ears flat and big eyes. She sat on my lap when i did this voooo.

Is practising 'AUM' and Voo the same?
My understanding is that "aum/om" and "voo" are similar, but "voo" is a lower tone/deeper vibration in the body that can possibly create vibration lower in the viscera. Of course, if aum is practiced correctly, it also starts low in the belly as a three-syllable sound - but it is not often taught as such in the USA.
Great... It works much better if you put over the ear head phones on.. It increase the vibrational feel x3...
