I really like the way you explained the Austria-Germany Section, and can personally say that you did a good job, The German and Austrian unification debakle actually goes alot deeper then just Language, History plays a big part as historically Austria was (through the HRE) the ruler of the German States, and such if you were born in that time and ever thought of Austria taking over Germany, you werent actually that far off. The only real problem with the Unification debate is caused by Nationalists who want the Großdeutsch resolution to happen, and Austria and Germany to unify, which alot of people nowadays, expecially in Austria, do not want. Also while we do speak the same Language, its still distinct, Someone from Kärnten is going to speak differently then someone from Nordrhein-Westfahlen thanks to the Dialects. Would love to see some more stuff in the future about Austria, even though there's not much to say lol. Good job again!

Toycat i hope you read this but you and me are a lot alike, I'm absolutely obsessed with geography and i watch this channel religiously (proof that I know geography is my 3rd newest video, i broke the world record on sporcles countries of the world quiz). I also like minecraft a lot which is your main channel haha. All my friends and family members know me as this geography genius, and whenever i watch your videos i either already know everything, learn something really cool and new (never knew austria couldn't join germany!) or notice minor mistakes and feel the need to point them out haha. You said during the video that you didn't know why Serbia still claims Kosovo, well historically Kosovo was an integral part of the Serbian Kingdom during the middle ages and also the site of some major Serbian military victories over the ottoman empire which lead to their independence from the Ottoman empire. The Serbians have never claimed that Kosovar's are a part of the Serbian nation, in fact it was granted wide ranging autonomy in acknowledgement of the Albanian speaking majority; its about territory and the historical ties to that territory. Vojvodina is another Serbian territory which still has wide ranging political autonomy in acknowledgement of it's extremely diverse population groups which include Magyars, Croatians, Slovaks, Romanians etc. Vojvodina has always had a very diverse population but there has never been any doubt that it is a Serbian territory. Perhaps if Kosovo was more diverse population-wise, there would be fewer problems.
It has become a meme now, not reality. Kosovo is now an independent republic with a majority of its population being Albanian. 60% of the UN recognizes it at independent. Albanians too have strong connections to Kosovo, since it's a part of their motherland. The Community of Serb Municipalities has also been given self-governance, and if compared to the one given to Kosovo in Yugoslav times, the exception to the autonomy given to the Serbs now, in relation to its people is that they are not being harrased and killed because of their ethnicity. What Serbian victories in Kosovo lead to their independence from the Ottoman Empire? You mean occupation? You have to remember that Kosovo was mostly Albanian-populated in that time, which resisted to Serbian "occupation" during the 1st Balkan War.

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard "You're being racist against me because I'm Muslim", I'd be a wealthy man. I grapple with people thinking Islam is an ethnicity or nation, its a religion and you can't really be racist against a religion... I'm really straying from my original point so I'll just stop here.

Chandler Short there are many reasons, for example the struggle for power between Prussia and Austria-Hungary. A unified German Empire would be led by the Prussian Emperor and the Austrian emperor wasn't too fond of that idea. Also as he said in the video, Austria-Hungary included a lot of ethnic minorities that didn't speak German and wanted to form independent nations rather than join with Prussia and the other states
Merging Ukraine and Belarus into Ruthenia could be neat in the long run, our people are really similar, I imagine it working kinda the same way as Czechoslovakia did.

You can't compare 18 century politics to modern one. Kosovo is not a real country, it doesn't even control it's entire territory. But if Serbia fully recognizes it's independence then it will become UN member and a real country.
North and South Korea and also Taiwan and China are all UN members. So they are real countries, but these cases are not comparable to Kosovo, since all of them strive to achieve one united big country. Kosovo is unrecognized break-away state created by war and occupation, like Northern Cyprus,Transnistria , Abkhazia...
You can't compare Kosovo case with ROC and PRC case, since both of those countries claim one another. Same goes for NK and SK. Kosovo has it's entire territory disputed by another country, and until Serbia recognizes it's full independence and it becomes full UN member it will never be considered as a ''real'' country. Same goes for other self-proclaimed states like South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Northern Cyprus and many other, that achieved their independence when foreign power supported separatism in one country.
Plus the only real value in Kosovo is for war. It's a huge natural barrier into Balkans for potential Turkey/Nato advance. That's why Serbia isn't allowed to let it go, cause Russia needs Kosovo to survive WW3

Right, Bosnia and Hercegovina could split up and a part could join Croatia and the other part could join Serbia, but since the Dayton Agreement in 1995, it thank god stayed calm! But another example is Belgium, which had a gouvernment crisis back in 2013 because of their language problem. What if they would split up and the North joins the Netherlands and the South would join France? Everything is possible!

There is a thing you are missing. Serbs and Bosnians (and in a wider range Croats as well) are one same people. Serbs took Orthodox Christianity (so did Bosnians initially), while Croats tok Catholicism. Montenegrins are also same people, just Littoral Serbs. So, what happened is that in 14 century Ottomans invaded the area, and some Serbs and Croats took Islam. Those are the ones considering themselves "Bosnians" as they live mostly in Bosnia. Some Bosnian intellectuals do admit they are not a separate nation but just Serbs of different religionn, while nationalists insist on the separate nation theory. Vatican and Germany favour this separation of them from Serbs and Serbia so no Orthodox Russian-friendly nation wouldnt become powerfull and have access to the sea right there in Italy back.

Chandler Short there are many reasons, for example the struggle for power between Prussia and Austria-Hungary. A unified German Empire would be led by the Prussian Emperor and the Austrian emperor wasn't too fond of that idea. Also as he said in the video, Austria-Hungary included a lot of ethnic minorities that didn't speak German and wanted to form independent nations rather than join with Prussia and the other states

You can't compare 18 century politics to modern one.
Kosovo is not a real country, it doesn't even control it's entire territory.
But if Serbia fully recognizes it's independence then it will become UN member and a real country.
North and South Korea and also Taiwan and China are all UN members.
So they are real countries, but these cases are not comparable to Kosovo, since all of them strive to achieve one united big country.
Kosovo is unrecognized break-away state created by war and occupation, like Northern Cyprus,Transnistria , Abkhazia...
You can't compare Kosovo case with ROC and PRC case, since both of those countries claim one another.
Same goes for NK and SK.
Kosovo has it's entire territory disputed by another country, and until Serbia recognizes it's full independence and it becomes full UN member it will never be considered as a ''real'' country.
Same goes for other self-proclaimed states like South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Northern Cyprus and many other, that achieved their independence when foreign power supported separatism in one country.

Right, Bosnia and Hercegovina could split up and a part could join Croatia and the other part could join Serbia, but since the Dayton Agreement in 1995, it thank god stayed calm! But another example is Belgium, which had a gouvernment crisis back in 2013 because of their language problem. What if they would split up and the North joins the Netherlands and the South would join France? Everything is possible!

There is a thing you are missing. Serbs and Bosnians (and in a wider range Croats as well) are one same people. Serbs took Orthodox Christianity (so did Bosnians initially), while Croats tok Catholicism. Montenegrins are also same people, just Littoral Serbs. So, what happened is that in 14 century Ottomans invaded the area, and some Serbs and Croats took Islam. Those are the ones considering themselves "Bosnians" as they live mostly in Bosnia. Some Bosnian intellectuals do admit they are not a separate nation but just Serbs of different religionn, while nationalists insist on the separate nation theory. Vatican and Germany favour this separation of them from Serbs and Serbia so no Orthodox Russian-friendly nation wouldnt become powerfull and have access to the sea right there in Italy back.
