This has been my #1 favorite movie (and soundtrack) for 20 straight years, I can't even believe it. I find myself going back to it every once in a while, it speaks to me on so many levels.
'Bend it Like Beckham' is in my top 20 favourite films of all time. The way it captures various cultural, gender and interracial barriers and breaking all that using football (symbolically) as a medium is absolutely fantastic. Kudos to the director, Gurinder Chadha and the entire cast and crew. If you like feel-good films, make sure you watch it. You won't be disappointed.
Jules and Jess were awesome female movie characters. Enjoying Bend It Like Beckham 18 years later! Such cheeky performances and cultural diversity throughout film.
Im indian and one of my professors in US was a Welsh, He loved this movie so much that he would mention it in our "Fatigue and Fracture mechanics" lectures all the time. IN our final exam one of the questions was "What is the real name of the character Jess" , just to see if we were paying attention in class. IM glad i knew the answer !!
