To answer your question, I mostly listen to electronic music, where it’s not too uncommon for the artist to repeat the same line 50 times through out the song. I just think there’s way more to it than that. But like I said, referring back to the OP, Faith is just a good song. The chorus pops, the new age/ambient break towards the end give me chills, and Abels vocals sound great

Tbh this might be one of the biggest snubs of the history. At least the others were nominated, God. Abel had everything this year to sweep the Academy: charts, reviews, bets, public reception. At this point, I don't really know why we give attention to an award that changes it's pattern so much and it's more on to make a concert than to actually value year's biggest impacts.

Also I think Perfume Genius should have gotten some sort of nomination, even though he's a lesser known artist he released one of the most critically acclaimed albums this year and it completely deserves that praise. People like Mac, Weeknd, Cole, Cudi don't make music for accolades/trophies. They make music that stands the test of time, that changes lives. Now we know why Ye was pissing on his Grammy. Honestly Mac Miller should've gotten a nomination for his song “Good News” alone. Circles in my opinion was one of my favorites of this year and to not see it get a single nomination is disappointing.

After Hours is NOT JUST AN R&B ALBUM. If a white man recorded After Hours, it would 100% be considered a POP ALBUM
He submitted to rnb, complained about being pigeonholed, got moved to pop by the committee, but then the pop voters either didn't like him or didn't know they could vote for him. Supposedly only 50-500 people vote for nominations, and up to 12000 vote for the winner.

I read online that the grammys didn't nominate him because they wanted Abel to preform at the grammys but he also had the Super Bowl halftime show 7 days after and it would have been very difficult for him to preform at both but after many meetings they finally agreed that he could preform at both but by that point the grammys were aggravated therefore they didn't nominate him for anything. This isn't conformed its just something I read in multiple different places and it also makes sense because of his most recent tweet about planning the performance.
If that's true it just shows how biased the Grammys are. They don't actually care about awarding for quality it's a scam :/

whatever they want. People should stop acting like Grammy's matters in any way. Complain complain complain they didn't get their little fake gold trophy.
They snubbed him bc they were in talks to have him perform at the grammys, but he chose to perform at the super bowl a week before, while still hoping to retain his billing for the grammys. Obviously this was unaccaptable for the grammys, as it would likely be a repeat performance and would garner much less attention, so they could no longer offer him the same deal. Abel and his team refused to accept a lower offer however, so talks between Abel and the Grammys ended on a very sour note.
I understand the frustration the grammys feel, as Abel essentially just leveraged their offer only to leave them in the dust, but to have that reflect on their selection criteria only calls into question the integrity of the selection committee (which no one buys anyways).
I feel like Abel wouldn’t give in a rehashed performance tho, especially if he’s playing both SB and Grammys. Lots of people definitely aren’t watching the Grammys now bc of this

Blinding lights was literally the BIGGEST song of the year, the fact that it isn't nominated shows how much de Grammys are influenced by things beyond music. @@gabrielaflorez4093 honestly it makes no sense. i think they're broadcasted on the same week and maybe 2 performances wouldn't be impactful and the superbowl one would get a lot more attention. it just sounds so petty, it's not like bliding lights would be the only song he would perform at the superbowl and that song being the huge hit that it is, people really wouldn't mind watching 2 performances of it. abel is also a great performer, he's been giving some of the best "quarantine" performances this year. or maybe they didn't want to give him too much airtime and made him choose between the two because cbs broadcasts both.

I didn't even like the Weeknd before Blinding Lights. I was kinda surprised when I heard it. I can't deny it's greatness. Deserves formal recognition but ya know... it's the Grammys.
After Hours deserves Album of the Year, Blinding Lights deserves Record of the Year, and the people who didn’t nominate The Weeknd deserve the death penalty

Grammys have always been very much related to commercial success, as we can see from the nominees (even Yummy got nominated lmao). So it's weird that Blinding Lights, which was the biggest hit of the year and universally liked, didn't get a single nomination. After Hours was also top 5 biggest album this year and positively received. I was expecting him to WIN a major category but he didn't even get a nomination in a minor category lol. Baffling.
I didn't love After Hours, but even I can see that this is a catastrophic snub. I also think Phoebe Bridgers got snubbed for AOTY, or just that in general AOTY needed some rock and rap inclusions. Yeah, an abnormally large number of head scratchers this year, after the past couple years when the Grammys seemed like they were starting to get their act together with Janelle Monae, Lizzo, etc.

What I don't understand about the Grammys is that they are committing to be the worst of both worlds.
