- I pulled the lid on my LT4 Supercharger and removed the built in sound dampener. This did add more supercharger whine and being that it was easy and free, I am very happy with it ! That noise is so happy. Like your Aussie Shepherd when you just get home.
sounds really good!
cobra351ci thanks !
Sounds really good! The roto fab intake is always a nice touch in camaro’s! I used to own a 2018 2ss 1LE and i loved it but got too many tickets 😂 really good video bro! I subbed!
Thanks ! I can understand the tickets, the 1LE's are fantastic camaro's and these 6th gen's can really make power and handle ! Appreciate the sub !
Trash Panda Productions ohhh yeah man! Gm did really good with the 6th gems, that’s for sure! I really miss mine but I’ll pass with the tickets because i know i can’t control my self with all that temptation lol anytime bro, keep up the good woe and awesome videos!
I talk to engineer from GM about catch can for C7 zo6 and he told me the car didn’t need one if it did they would have installed at the factory
Has there been more oil visible with the removal of the cover since removal
I wish you'd have done a before video.
Thanks man!
You bet!
hello man i need to ask you if i remove the lid and i have meth injection headers and smaller pulley and tune with 12-13 psi of boost can this cause some problem to my car?????? PLZ ANSWER
Is it safe to do with a whine kit from froster
Thank you for great video. One question on 2019 zo6 dies it have same plate to remove ? Thank you
Yes, same lid.
Any issues while Doing this
only if the 1le had tht hellcat whine sheesh
What’s that torque sequence on the 89in/lbs reset? Or is it just a center to out type pattern? Never taken my lid off before is why I’m asking and don’t wanna warp it on the re installation/ thanks man
Same question here.
7 ft Lbs
Can you do this with a 2012 CTSV?
No, different supercharger.
Any issues since removing the plate? Codes or anything?
Nothing 😀
@@DemonWorks awesome thanks for the reply!!
How tall is your supercharger lid. I think they came with the smaller lid for a few years then they changed it to the taller one from heating issues
The Camaro got the tall lid, the z06 had the short lid in the beginning, but all Camaros were tall.
Is that a roto fab intake? Ik that helps with the louder supercharger whine also
It is a rotofab and it does help out for sure.
Did you have to get a tune for that roto fab
@@racj2011 don’t think so, could be wrong
@@racj2011 not for the basic rotofab cai on the ZL1 only the Big Gulp intake requires a tune
Have you changed your mind on the Catch Can or have you purchased one since this video? Im thinking of getting one for my 19 ZL1 1LE and wonder if it's worth the money.
Haven’t changed my mind on it. Just not seeing a “need” at this point. Instead, I bought a mamo v2 throttle body that I think was a great upgrade !
@@DemonWorks How much horsepower do you think that will add? You would need a tune with that I assume.
@@DemonWorks would u prefer the 1le over a scat or hellcat?
@@yssnfilms for sure. The 1LE serves a better purpose for what I want, autocross and road course while also being loaded with all of the comforts.
It's almost been a month. Any issues you may have noticed by doing this? Have you taken the lid off and inspected since?
Haven’t taken the lid back off for inspection and I am still enjoying this !
@@DemonWorksany updates on it 😭
Did yo7 replace the Torx s reds leave them out ?
Left them out
Just put an MBRP exhaust with TSP 1 7/8 headers and highflow cats... i dont think ill be able to hear a whipple 3.0 lol
I have a 2016 Z06 can i do it with my car?
As long as you have the lid that looks like this one. The early, lower ones I’m unsure if they have the plate or not.
This would have been a perfect opportunity before dampener removal and after dampener removal video .
Deadpool Z agree, but I didn’t want to get it warm before taking it apart. Poor planning. Lol
Trash Panda Productions I just did a before and after video of mine. Real short nothing special.
The only difference is heard was a louder whine down.. I do need a oil catch can though, mine wasn’t as clean as yours, but then again it has 18k miles.
ZL Garage nice ! Can’t beat free ! For the catch can, any specific one you have been looking at ? I personally like the Elite Engineering.
Trash Panda Productions I’ll be taking a look at Elite. You weren’t the first person to mention them either. lol. I just have to figure out a way to explain it to my wife that I need this part so the car doesn’t blow up scheme. LOL
Just remove the Hood gasket for that extra nosie..
😂😂😂
is this the same for 19' z06's
Yes, as long as you have the same looking lid. Which, I’m confident you do, it was just the very early ones with the very short lids.
How do you know it’s just a muffler?
From everything that I read about it, even GM referred to it as a sound dampener.
Does the rotofab need a tune on the zl1?
The regular one does not, the big gulp does.
@@DemonWorks so with the regular one i should get more whine from my super charger right?
@@METALFACEDOOMXXXX yes ! Noticeable.
@@DemonWorks ok thanks
Did you reuse the same gaskets?
Yes, I did.
how much did that piece you took out weight? I'm looking for any way to reduce weight without compromizing daily driveability and spending too much money.
New headers with greencats should reduce some weight, new lithium Ion battery.....Track days I will remove the back seat backing and remove everything in the trunk.
A pound or two. The headers will net a decent drop because of the 4 cats you will remove.
@@DemonWorks planning on keeping cats with new headers. Green cats are what ill do with kooks headers. Want to keep the deep grumble. I have already cut out the secondary cats....changes the car dramatically.
How do I know if my supercharged is bad?
No power and / or horrible noises are usually the first red flags.
It whines 🤣
Will this void any warranties?
I often say, if you have to ask, you should probably leave the car untouched. too many variables to that question.
No. It's a support panel to divert warpage...put it back on
It diverts warpage ? Gm says it’s for sound.
No. You need to contact Eaton. End of discussion.
@@4EVERCAMARO No not end of discussion. This is what GM says about the supercharger. Learn something. "The design of the supercharger system incorporates advanced features for noise reduction. The rear cover of the supercharger gear case has changed from an Aluminum casting to a constained-layer damping material designed to absorb radiated noise from the supercharger drive gears. Additionally, the supercharger lid has a constrained-layer damping panel assembled over the discharge port to damp the high frequency content of the air pulsations exiting the supercharger discharge port. This reduces the traditional "whine" noise associated with superchargers and gives a refined yet powerful and pleasing sound to the engine..."
@@4EVERCAMARO lol looks like you might be inexperienced...
@@epicoolkid he likes taking things off maybe I can convince him to take one lug nut off each wheel to make it go faster weight wise. He said he likes free mods. 😂😂😂😂
Why would someone want “more scream’? If a move makes more power, great. Otherwise...
I like to hear it :)
Shut it Karen! MORE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Same reason you’d put different exhaust on. If it’s not your car then why worry about it?
That cover is not designed to hide the whine dude, sorry to have to tell you that! It's to flatten and smooth out the air fuel charge. Kinda like a port and polish. Silly boy.
Your lack of knowledge on this part is unfortunate as it's been pointed out several times within the comments here. It is actually referred to as a sound deadening plate. To compare it to a "port and polish" is embarrassing. You can check the comments in here as well as do a google search. Knowledge is power, child.
@@DemonWorks since I've owned 5, c7 corvette with supercharges so far and modified many, I call bullshit! I don't care what forums say or people like you that only had 1 vette.
@@raydelfa1125 I’m also a GM tech, so I’m not just one of those guys that buys their way around cars. I completely understand your ignorance now.
@@DemonWorks So you know how noisy the motor is in the C7 Corvette Z06 correct
@@DemonWorks And you know it's a very small supercharger not A671 blower seriously dude
