It's important to remember it's not a competition, everything in its own place. The love for a mother, for a mother, and the love for a woman for a woman.

Mexican guy here and while some things may vary within mexican regions, the video is pretty accurate. It was funny to see how someone outside our culture can see us.

As gender roles have been changing, machismo is slowly dying out. In theory jealousy is apparent in all cultures. Whether it's in work, relationship or even between neighbors, there is always going to be someone that is jealous of your success. I do agree with the dancing part however, besides banda, there is also cumbia, danzon, norteno, and guapango we dance to. The public displays of affection are true but not all Mexican men are this way, neither are a lot of Mexican women for that matter, at least in my own experience. I think as long as there is an attraction from both sides and they get a long okay, than it's a good sign for a healthy and long lasting relationship.
