Right handed and this was so helpful. Another tip, some municipalities require special sharps disposal. Mine does so I save old blades in a glass container until I can take. And out of sight of little hands looking for sewing snacks.

Just for information. I had my husband change out my rotary blade. I found that it was not cutting really for a new blade but we were in a hurry to get out to the airport…I just grabbed the piece of fabric to go to the store. The next day, I am trying to cut fabric to make placemats for a friend only to notice that he had inserted through error as they are very thin…TWO blades. In my rush to separate the 2 blades I had to refer to a video to do it right! Thank you! Experienced quilters, please forgive me….

Thanks so much for the help - that solved my issue. Just FYI I purchased a needle disposal box from amazon (about $5). The lid is wide enough for the blades to fit and Ive had it for a year now and still filling. I also toss in old needles... anything sharp. The thought of someone accidentally cutting themselves after tossing troubled me to know end.

You can buy it anywhere that sells sewing gear! Joanns has it. Or online anywhere. It’s an olfa 45mm disc. Be sure that it looks identical to mine- make sure it retracts when you release. ✂️✅

I use the plastic holder the blade originally came in when it’s time to dispose of the blade. I then wrap that with some tape. It is really hand for when you are at a class and need to transport the bad blade.

I put a "P" on my old blades and use them for paper. Works great when wrapping gifts!!!!! Then i put the old ones in a small box and when i have to go to the doctor i ask if they mind if I put them in there sharp container. they almost always say yes. or you can by a sharp container and then see if the doctor will take care of them. just don't ask if its a new Dr.

My 60mm Olfa cutter doesn't have the yellow guard part. Can't remember if it came with it & I lost it or, if I never had it in the first place. Is it necessary?

Hello, Thank you for your video. I have a question. Well, its more of a dilemma. I did this exactly how you did it but my blade is wobbling when I use it to cut. I have the nut tightened as far as it will fo, I wrote to the company asking for advice but they never responded. So now when I cut with my rotary cutter my cuts are crooked because the blade wobbles around. I just don;t understand. Any advice or thoughts?
